Of course it is just a status thing now since unfortunately there is no difference between between VMP’s and members (that was also a sad day when that happened).

@Kidsandliz very true not much difference now, $1 difference in price per month, also never got any of the vmp items.

@mbimeh I was meaning no difference in that all the VMP perks we, as VMP’s and only VMP’s, used to get are gone.

Juat checked, havent bought anything since July and haven’t received anything for being VMP in a looong time. Sad to end both my streaks like this.

Someday I’ll fully break the habit of checking wha’s for sale every day.

I won’t be able to forget Meh though since 80% of my shirts just say “meh” for some reason…

@TaRDy I was in the same boat. The only reason I was hanging onto VMP was for the bragging rights. It was a hard decision, especially since you get a poop symbol next to your name as if you don’t care about the company anymore. Almost a decade of paying $5/month and they give you a poop.

@ChadP sorry, yes. I guess it’s apples & oranges! It was Casemates, and I had to re-up on Meh. I didn’t notice I lost my acct when my CC was changed. I appreciate you reaching out!

@ChadP they said they could sign me up for the new membership, not reinstate my old one. I can sign myself up for the new membership, I was asking for forgiveness after noticing I missed last months membership payment. This they could not help me with.

I think that one of the private events (maybe the only one) was/is the vmp, now called “members only sale,” during Mehrathons. Also, I received a couple of IRK knickknacks at the very beginning and the infamous Mediocre socks.

I guess the most recent thing was the coupon for the 20 bucks worth of pasta. I think my purchase turned out to be for 100 pounds. That was pretty cool.

I agree it’s not what it used to be, but I guess I don’t have any big complaints about it.

I do still buy enough to justify my VMP to cover my shipping costs.

Years back I they sent me free socks, a couple of handy, tiny micro USB dongles, sort of like a USB cable but a solid piece about 2" long, handy for connecting external drives to my laptop without a big-ass cable that’s in the way. Might have received a free shirt too, can’t remember. I seem to recall this was during the first couple years of VMP existing.

My wife would have LOVED that, but I seem to have missed that one, and I’ve been a VMP since about the start. Maybe the email got accidentally sent to my spam folder or something. Oh well.

@barnabee @mbimeh I never got the pasta either, and I’ve been VMP since almost when they started it.-I just checked, I’ve been paying the $5 a month, and not resenting it, since November of 2014. The biggest problem is deciding what category it is in our Quicken check register. Now it is in the miscellaneous expense category.

@yeppers That’s a coincidence. I have that too, although I have them separately. But for me, they are business categories, so I can’t put Meh in them. Thanks for the idea, but don’t worry, I’ll continue to manage.

@Star2236 Have you checked the cost of postage lately? Meh is probably losing money keeping the VMP’s and Member’s deals. Anyway, it’s not Meh’s fault if someone doesn’t order something to make up for the monthly payment.

@barnabee @Star2236 this is not how shipping works for what’s effectively a mail-order company.

Rates are contracted, often flat-fee’d and are not even remotely close to what you’d pay walking-in or even printing your own online.

Snapster understands this business very well and I have zero doubt the VMP/Mehembership program is a profitable one.

The fact that rates were raised not too long ago is proof they’re analyzing the profitability of it.
