If I were going to try to consolidate all of my keys on one ring, it would have three car fobs and just one metal key, so this isn’t particularly useful for me.
I had one of these I no doubt bought here or on the old site.
There was no practical advantage, but it wasn’t annoying enough for me to change until after a few years when my keys started getting caught on each other. Maybe one or more got a little bent.
I bought the bottle opener, because I’ve carried a bottle opener for over forty years. It was awkward to use.
Also the bolt part worked its way loose over time, but a drop of Loctite would probably fix that.
I had a ton of keys at work. This thing was great until it just cratered… I put all my keys on a back-up. Same thing… Cratered. Idea is great… Longevity or lack of is not. Meh
I’ve gotten down to 3 regular keys, a car key that is the fob, a mini box cutter, and a tool shaped kind of like a key, only the 3 keys would fit. If the box cutter and tool could be replaced with ones that fit this, and the car key wasn’t going to be a problem with a ring attaching it to this …
I’ve been using one of these for around a decade and it’s held up pretty great. The black scratched off of the edges but it still holds my keys just fine.
I’ve got a few of these and they have held up well. For years I walked around with a lot of keys from one ring. I retired so I don’t need work keys anymore, so that lessened the load. Now I have a house key, a basement key, and a car fob. These are great for extra sets of keys for my old truck, a set for when I take a walk and don’t want/need the car fob dangling from it, a set for keys that are not needed that often, or when I have something else in my pocket that I don’t want scratched up by the teeth of the keys. Not so good for keys with thick plastic heads. Not so good if you need to have a lot of keys on one ring. For $5 I’ll probably get a few more for spares and gifts.
If you look closely at the photo in the email, it appears you need two thumbs on one hand to use this product. I guess it won’t work for me cuz I don’t only have one thumb on each hand
@spirit299 if you look at the round metal ring there’s another thumb under there if you look closely. They photoshopped the index finger and put a thumb on it.
You could give me 3 of these for a dollar and it wouldn’t be a buy. Unlike the guy who doesn’t not have a couple thumbs in each pocket, I’ve just found that minimalism rarely means another gadget.
I bought this because keys tend to put holes in my pockets over time, especially mesh pockets. I think they’re less likely to do damage when they’re tucked into this Swiss Army-like fob. It was a little bit of work getting the keys in there; you have to stack the keys and spacers on either side in such a way that placing the second plate on top will be pretty much level. Then you have to hold it all steady long enough to get the screws seated properly, not so tight that you can’t push the keys in and out, not so loose that the whole thing falls apart. But you’ll probably need to tighten the screws moderately every year or so. Having gotten it together, I like it for the reason I bought it and also because by now I know where in the apparatus each of my keys is, so less fumbling overall, despite that pushing the keys out individually is a little awkward and you have to hold it a little differently to get the key in the lock. …This may be the most OCD thing I’ve ever written…
@tarpaper Ha ha! I’m glad they’re working out for you! My job as a property manager and landlord requires me to have lots of keys. So I switched over to the KeySmart system for awhile. A dab of blue (removable) Loctite helps keep the screw in place. But I still need labels for my units so I’ve gone back to traditional keyrings.
I operate on touch for my own household keys because I’m usually carrying something in my other hand. The KeySmart really excels at this because the keys will always be in the same spot.

If it’s not mac compatible, you’re just holding it wrong.
Looks like it’s available in Georgia Red.
Interesting idea,.but bad when implemented.
@hchavers EXPLAIN why.
DAGNABBIT!!
I was gonna get one but then I noticed it’s only for PREMIUM Keys and I ain’t got none!!
Mine are just plain old regular ones.

@werehatrack yeah, I only have a car fob, and two keys (one of which is a bike lock key, which would not fit in these).
I lost one of these inside the house a few years ago. Still haven’t found it

Maybe if I was a janitor or knew one…

@Mandamm How did it crater?
@andymand It just came apart one day. I am sure I had too many keys on it, but figured if they fit, it should be OK. Was great while it lasted.

Is that a “KeySmart” in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

@Syvehc Only see one thumb.
@Syvehc he’s just missing his little finger on his right hand hehe
@spirit299 if you look at the round metal ring there’s another thumb under there if you look closely. They photoshopped the index finger and put a thumb on it.
@pskemp2 The index fingers where the thumb should be. They photoshopped it out and put a thumb there, it’s just really weird.
@Syvehc yep, i noticed that too, just threw in a little humor, or so I thought, ha!
@Syvehc Great if you have AI hands.
Worst color combinations possible for the headlines and buttons. For me at least. Sigh…

i have several cars; individual key rings for each one. Each key ring consists of (a) the ignition key, (b) a house key, and © a decorative tag which lets you know at a glance which key ring goes with which car.
i keep a separate key ring for all the general keys (mailbox, security system, the shed padlock, etc.) Most of those rarely get used.
i keep one set of spare keys for all the vehicles on a single ring.
also all car keys are the remote fob type and probably wouldn’t fit into this thing.
Pass.
@visioneer_one I suspect that the declining use of old-stlye keys for cars (and bike locks) is probably why this item has ended up on Meh.
/8ball Will I lose this key holder with all of my keys?
Yes definitely
Got one of these last sale. Still have no idea what I’m going to do with it
