@Lynnerizer@pakopako A now-deceased friend used to relate that in High School, her Junior Achievement group sold alligator clips with a decorative hand-braided cord attached as their entrepreneurial fundraiser, and had a devil of a time coming up with a name for the product. They’d already sold most of them before the school admin caught up to the fact that these were recognized as roach clips by the other students. A lack of hilarity ensued.

I remember those alligator clips, we did the same thing with them, attached a macrame handle but we still called them roach clips. Lol
You’re never going to get enough torque to use the wrench or even screwdriver function. Also, good luck on catching anything but a flathead.
I’ve got a two-part key multitool (WalletGear Utili-Key); that opens up (with heavy resistance) like a scissor (hinge at the base of the key) and allows decent grip (when you open the key halfway so it looks like a corkscrew grip). The tool claims multiple heads (cross/flat/micro), but only the biggest (cross-head) is worth a damn.
@pakopako The screwdriver will work well enough for say a battery compartment. These multifunction tools just save a bit of hassle of running out to your garage to grab a real screwdriver for a two second use.

420 stainless? Cool, man, no need for a roach clip.
@werehatrack I can’t believe they’re called that. Even cigarette extenders had a more direct name.

@pakopako You had to be around when the term was coined, I guess. (Which I was, although I never indulged in that particular activity.)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like that. Back in the day we used to use hemostats!

If this showed up in an IRK, sure, I’d drop it on a keyring. But this is some standard milling on a key blank.
And TSA-approved?? Does it include a blade of any type? Are my keys somehow potentially not approved?
@brainmist I have one. The serrated edge will cut twine but that is about it.

@pakopako That’s an easy fix. Just attach a pair of 10" vice grips to your keychain and clamp onto the key to provide extra torque.

@mehcuda67 while technically true, it ruins the portability aspect (which is why I carry around a small pencil case with dedicated tools)
@mehcuda67 @pakopako Does it look like this one?
@ircon96 @pakopako Love it. Certainly looks like a dedicated case.
I wonder how often someone would use the protractor on the other side? Seems like an odd feature.
@heartny It might come in handy for those parents doing their kids’ homework for them. Er, i mean helping their kids with homework.
@heartny @ircon96 Back in the day, when the mule died, Dad hooked us kids up after school to pull the plow. We quickly became protractor.
But, really; does ANYONE ever use any ‘tool’ other than the bottle cap opener?
@JohnQ118 it’s not a great bottle opener
@JohnQ118 Most likely I will forget that I have it with me when I actually need one of the tools.
@pakopako good to know. I’ll continue to carry my ‘ol’ trusty’ from the late 1980’s still on
my keyring.
