@AttyVette @gogrrl Someone I know has a coon eat with the feral cats. All of them with their nose in the bowl at the same time. I’ve seen it as they are likely only around 1/2 feral at this point and the coon knows a good thing when it has it.

Yes! A baby possum. Didn’t see any others, so I guess he was venturing out on his own. Have also had raccoons, but the cats tend to give them more space and not get too close. They hiss at them, but don’t run away. I don’t blame them. Those raccoons can get quite large.

@gogrrl @Kyeh I was once taking college students canoeing in the Okefenokee Swamp. We were camped on a platform. The outhouses on the platforms had some upper shelves, I presume to do what we did which was put food up there at night. Anyway we had a black garbage bag still sitting out and a coon came by, grabbed it (it was a 45ish gal one that was full of food), and started dragging it away. He was a good 15’ from the platform across mud when someone got the bag. Snakes and gaitors be damned. That thing was not getting out food!

@rinrinrin I thinbk I recognize that caterpillar from personal experience of long ago. Just make sure that you don’t try to handle one of those; the cactus-like spines are venomous, and will raise an impressive (both in appearance and pain level) welt on your skim.

@werehatrack Agreed. I work with the baseline of any fuzzy/spikey caterpillar doesn’t want to be my friend, until I learn otherwise. I didn’t know what these were the first time I met them, but I didn’t touch, and by the second time I knew they were best left alone. (minus taking lots of pictures )

@Kyeh Fortunately the puppy had already tired itself out running around and so just lay there while she was getting up the nerve to pet it. My kid lives on someone’s non-working farm where there are a couple of skinny horses, a tractor with an open trailer, a bunch of dogs and cats… and so my grandkids have a blast playing. It’s at the end of a road so no traffic issues. They play a lot in the yard. When the oldest (who just turned 8 ), was younger, his favorite toy was a rope he’d tie around a sledge hammer and drag it around the yard. Shades of, my favorite part of this present is the box or wrapping paper. It also means no one sees when they decide to use a fire ant hill as target practice with pee.

@Lynnerizer Cool ! Breakfast cereal cat Mine usually do that head first and then get stuck. I’ll have to open the other side too. Looks like he has a future as a new “angry cat” on the internet. Very cut looking guy.
