@commonhero@JKKJR us tall folks probably dislike that they are called California king in general.
Never any sheets. Etc but while I’m pushing it to stretch out all the way lengths wise on a king I don’t really sleap that way so. Maybe next time I get a mattress why bother
really
@commonhero@JKKJR@rpstrong@unksol OK, I’m a little late on the reply, but I can’t say I’m any closer to understanding why tall people dislike the name California King.
I did think the comment by @commonhero that mentioned “recall” was clever, but then that somehow turned into @unksol having a few more things to say about the recall. But don’t worry @unksol, I don’t think anyone is too bothered about your stance on California.
Fun Fact! Ok, it may not be fun, but it is a fact! Texas, Wyoming, and Alaska also have mattress sizes named after them. (although I can’t imagine agoraphobics are too happy about any of these names).
@commonhero@elfunkman@JKKJR@rpstrong because it’s just weird to have custom bed lengths named that way and then you get into the whole cant find sheets thing
Did not know those other states did and it is a fun fact and they are also wrong
@commonhero@JKKJR@rpstrong@unksol OK, I understand what your saying now and it’s a fair point. I don’t buy size Meh shoes, so why do they make the strange change in bed sizing.
Thanks for responding and not yelling at me because I didn’t get it initially(and made a confusing typo). Go Team Meh!
@elfunkman there was I time I used to think we’d be better if California floated away. Now I think that about Florida sometimes. Just cause out there in the oceans. Extremes both way are awful.
It’s hard to let go “everything causes cancer in California” though since it’s on everything
@IndifferentDude It took your Sofa King Great post to make me realize that you CAN upvote a comment, that is what that STAR is for. I am Sofa King We Todd Did.

So, what you are saying is that somebody had one job to do, and failed. Was it the designer who thought that was a good idea to start with or was it the manufacturer who couldn’t follow simple directions?
And if they were at the foot of the bed, why wouldn’t spinning it 180° just move them to the other side, and call it a “left-handed” model? You’re welcome.
@mike808 I got a set of these in an IRK. It had two sets of pockets but they were on opposite corners. So even rotating the sheet 180 degrees kept the pockets on the foot/wall side.
@vlpronj I have a set of these. There are pockets on both sides. The pockets, though, are just a bit of the same material sewn on to the side. In the picture There’s a phone sticking out. In reality the phone would be deep in the pocket and leaning, and the weight of the phone would cause the pocket to bulge outward.
Still though, if you want pockets there they are.

Who doesn’t love the idea of a convenient place to stash your notebook, pen, tissues, phone, flashlight, iPod?
The images simulate the stages of use by your average college freshman over one academic year: white->beige->turqouise->black oh look a missing sock then toss in the trash at summer break.
@commonhero Good point, but I put that in there only for the photo
In reality we really don’t use the pockets. But the sheets are not bad, especially for $20. At least ten washings and no visible wear yet.
@commonhero@unksol At least once a week. I’m not sure I understand the rest of your question. The photo is of the pockets. I put a bottle in there to show it in use.
@ParadisePete i was trying to Google what that was a bottle of. My googlefu flubed. So now I’m mildly curious what was that bottle. Not that you need to tell me
How often you wash would be a good indicator of how they stand up.
I’m def not one of those weekly sheet washers but maybe I should be
Pockets in fitted sheets big enough for a tablet, but women have to put up with getting none, or ones that might hold a carefully folded postage stamp until they sit down. (Or, most infuriating of all, fake pockets that are just a decoration with no actual pocket.) At least at this price, the buyer’s not getting nicked for extra to cover the gimmick.
@werehatrack I fail to see how this product is sexist. Some have said it has pockets on both sides. And don’t all women everywhere in the whole entire world make the men sleep on the side closer to the door so we die and they can run?
In my house that happens to be the right and my .45 does not do pockets anyway so.
Cute idea, and would be handy. But microfiber? YUCK. I’d rather sleep on wax paper. The wife bought some like this a few years ago- they were practically translucent! You could feel the mattress pad underneath them. They do make decent car-cleaning rags…
just got mine today. only 2 pillow cases in my queen set. although it promised 4 already not impressed with the feel. You get what you pay for. Will I ever learn ? I think not
Yes, they’ll stretch over most mattresses, even with most floofy-pad or gel-foam toppers, but the elastic on the bottom sheet is very wimpy; do not expect that the sheet will stay firmly in place. This renders the pocketses rather pointless; when the sheet shifts toward one side or the other, one set of pockets climbs up onto the top, and the other falls over and empties onto the floor. If you don’t have a topper, and you’ve got a normal-thickness mattress, maybe the bottom sheet will stay in place via being well sandwiched along the edges. Maybe.
So, on a one-to-ten scale, Ima give these a solid 6. They don’t actively irritate me via texture issues, they don’t smell funny (and trust me, with stuff coming ashore from Random Unknown Factory Operating Without Oversight, that can be a big problem), and the cats haven’t poket holes in them, BUT the fitted sheet doesn’t fit terribly snug nor stay in place very well, and the real-world utility of the pockets is potentially zero. All in all, I think it’s obvious why they ended up on Meh.
The packaging claimed to have four pillow cases but there are really only two as the write up says. I totally forgot about the pocket, I think it’s on husband’s side of the bed. Overall they are perfectly fine sheets for the price.

@commonhero @JKKJR @unksol Why do us talk folk dislike that sheets are called California King?
@commonhero @elfunkman @JKKJR @unksol Listen to talk radio - talk folk dislike everything.
@commonhero @JKKJR @rpstrong @unksol Not sure if your response refers to my talk/tall typo, but your comment still works either way – I think.
@commonhero @elfunkman @JKKJR @rpstrong
Whats his face opened with some sort of recall vote that only California cares about.
I was only talking about the sheets. Us tall folks have limited options and why are they called California king… Weird
I have no bias against that state. Little sad I need to clarify that though
@JKKJR no twin XL either

Microfiber yuck
@ponagathos
“microfiber” noun. American Standard English, Marketing dialect synonym for “plastic”.
@ponagathos
If it had been any other material, I would have smashed the buy button. I have been tricked by microfiber too many times already.
@guyfromhawthorn Same
Actually the sheets are not bad for price. Have bought before.
Ok…but how deep are the corners? Will these fit my 16" mattress?
@Curllyq looks like 16” depth

@Curllyq @miller998 I’m never asking @miller998 for directions… or any question that would require back story.

@commonhero @shahnm i feel a need for some monsters Inc “wrench the nut”? All I got
Imagine not using magnets to solve your problems.
@dvermilion Great idea! Now, I don’t have to imagine how they work!
microfiber = polyester = plastic do not buy
So, the pockets are only on ONE side? Not gonna work for my household.
@vlpronj I have a set of these. There are pockets on both sides. The pockets, though, are just a bit of the same material sewn on to the side. In the picture There’s a phone sticking out. Jeez Meh, read the comments for the last 30+ months. Pretty negative for microfiber crap.
@craigcush which is probably why they keep throwing it in our faces. Honey Buyer don’t care.
No wireless charging pocket,
no sale
@2many2no so you too lazy to put your phone on the night stand but not lazy enough to put your wireless charger in the pocket?

Me. Why? Also why?

Finally, the ash tray for the bed is making a comeback. With all the new smokes, they had come back eventually.
@hchavers can a vape pen also work as a humidifier or essential oils diffuser?
@commonhero @hchavers more importantly can a vape pen lead to spontaneous human combustion conspiracy
@commonhero @hchavers @unksol you can’t prove it’s not real…
/giphy the truth is out there
Nightstands are so overrated when you can have what appears to be a set of pockets on just one side.
@ocifersven probably not even the side closest to the outlet or router.
@ocifersven I think that’s a mistake in the description. I have a set and there are pockets on both sides.
The images simulate the stages of use by your average college freshman over one academic year: white->beige->turqouise->black oh look a missing sock then toss in the trash at summer break.

Action Shot. That’s a 16 oz bottle.
@ParadisePete that’s a 3 am get out of bed.
@commonhero Good point, but I put that in there only for the photo
In reality we really don’t use the pockets. But the sheets are not bad, especially for $20. At least ten washings and no visible wear yet.
@commonhero @ParadisePete but how often do you wash and what ever is that

@unksol It’s BodyArmor Lyte. Watermelon flavor. It’s not that good.
@ParadisePete it looked for second like a bottle ofv antiseieze.

Antisieze in a pocect in your bed. Well
Pockets!

@werehatrack maybe you were going on a rant about pockets in womens jeans but that was not at all clear.
How deep are the sheets? Got a 15" deep king
I’d be in for several sets of these if they were polar fleece instead of microfiber.
For 20 bucks, why not? They can join the nicer ones in the sheet rotation…
@carolineecou and if you lose the nicer ones, be sure to look in the pockets!
Finally, something that’s truly classic Meh: Sheets with pockets.
Cute idea, and would be handy. But microfiber? YUCK. I’d rather sleep on wax paper. The wife bought some like this a few years ago- they were practically translucent! You could feel the mattress pad underneath them. They do make decent car-cleaning rags…
/giphy not bluetooth compatible
My set arrived today. It has pockets in the right place on both sides of the bed.
I won’t know if the microfiber will be a problem yet. I fear it may be a problem during the next heat wave.
Only 2 pillow cases in my queen set
just got mine today. only 2 pillow cases in my queen set. although it promised 4 already not impressed with the feel. You get what you pay for. Will I ever learn ? I think not
@Nashuajp The packaging may have said four pillowcases, but according to the Meh specs, only 2 pillowcases were to be provided.
One set had rips in it. How do I contact someone about that?
Not Always Inevitable Review Post:
