I had some Airpods Pro, I bought a new pair because I lost them. i found the old pair and they were used until the case stopped working so I used the new pair until I lost the left bud, then I only used the right bud until I lost the case.
So, now I am thanking you for reading this inane rant. I wish I could stop losing things and here’s to whatever crapnis left over.
@ronnyd@zachhh I apparently have small ear holes, so earbuds shaped like these fall out of my ears. I’ve been sticking to the wired pair that came with my Samsung phone; the shape fits my ears pretty well. I’ve hesitated to buy wireless ones because I worry that they’ll fall out and I’ll lose them.
I just bought a pair of Lenovo wireless earbuds for $15 from Temu. They’re shaped something like the Samsung ones, but they sort of clip onto the cartilage of the ear. I can’t decide if I like them or not. They stay on fine, but the speaker part doesn’t sit fully inside the opening and the touch controls are really sensitive, so I turn them on and off when I adjust them to sit in my ear holes better. I’ve only used them a couple times, so I’m withholding judgment for now. And if I hate them, I’m only out $15.
@ircon96 if you change each consonant to the next letter of the alphabet, you get Lamod. If you separate that into Lam and od, you get two animals, Lamb and Odie. As we all know, Odie is Garfield’s dumb dog friend. If you change the b in Lamb to an e, you get Lame. So, Lamb and Odie becomes Lame and Dumb. These things are lame and dumb. And you want to stick them in your ears? Wow!
The brand brings back memories of the hard drive brand, Kalok, of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Or rather, the lack of memory since their hard drives were rather unreliable.
“Active Noise Cancelling and Environmental Noise Cancellation technologies allow you to minimize distractions while maximizing audio quality” – ANC for $10. Wow.
I didn’t see any information about the control(s). I assume each earbud (or maybe just one?) has a play/pause/pair/power button and maybe a second button to cycle through ANC and no ANC modes?
@andymand I don’t know anything about this brand in particular.
Earbud power is usually controlled in an intuitive way. They are off while in the case, and on while out of the case.
The rest of the functions may be very hard to remember. The programmer may have invented something much more complex than Morse code. Without the benefit of standardization.
My wife recently bought a pair of Skull Candy buds that used:
tap,
double tap,
hold for 1 second,
hold for 2 seconds,
hold for 4 seconds,
a combination of the above.
The left bud would say “low battery” within about 40 seconds after it came out of the charging case. So she took it back to the store. Since she didn’t want to learn the codes, she got her money back rather than a “working” pair.
@hamjudo Yeah, I’ve probably bought two-dozen earbuds and headphones over the decades and more than half have a similar, cryptic structure like you described. I’m currently beta testing a pair and they lack a volume control which I’m finding is a dealbreaker for me. (FWIW, my favorite so far is a pair of bone-conduction ones by Shokz.)
@andymand@troy I went to the links in the description above, and functions are listed on a photo or two. One reviewer said that that one bud raises the volume and the other lowers it. I guess it’s worth $10 to have as a back-up. /buy
@irenegade@narfcake for you people who seem to know about these things, where else can I use these / commands besides here? and does the /8ball give different answers? or is it always most likely, actually you won’t have to answer that part, I can try that here. I tried googling it and most is referenced to Discord, which i know noting about, but am wondering if this chat is run by Discord?
And now my test:
/8ball
Don’t count on it

So while looking for the above mentioned buttons I found they have $16 smartwatch and Powerbeats clone on Amazon but not these. Usual mix of reviews “they’re great/stopped working in 31 days “
The write up today sounds kind of like my experience just recently. My go-to pair of wired/wireless BT earbuds for outside work(soundhub xd2s that I bought from here) finally bit the dust. I am super fond of them because of the way they attach to my t-shirt when I’m working outside and I don’t have to worry about them falling in the fish pond or off while I’m mowing. I ended up having to find a pair on eBay to replace them with, so I had to fall back on some other backup (true wireless) ones that I have that I don’t like as much since they fall out easier.
Good job!
I bought these during the mehathon. The basics work ok, but the ANC is useless. It announces whether its in ANC mode or not, but I can’t detect any change in the sound. Also the Kaloc website is basically not functional, registration fails. It smells like a failed product with a company out of business. Again, basic functionality works pretty well for $10.
This has been a disappointing purchase. The right ear bud stays charged for all of about 15 minutes. The left one stays for almost 1.5 hours. I wasn’t expecting high quality, but I was expecting functional.
Well got what I sort of paid for. Crappy ear buds
Bought jan 10th if this year and 5 month later they hold about 1hr charge, and the left one looks like it won’t connect any more, or getting really flaky.
$10 was about $8 too much.

@yakkoTDI What?
I would buy these to juggle with them if they came in packs of three. They look like mini juggling clubs.
I don’t really like earbuds otherwise.
@OnionSoup I find them quite attractive
A 3-Way? nice
@awk Except you’re the charging case for 20 hours of playtime.

@zachhh losing earbuds is exactly why I only buy cheapie earbuds from Meh/side deal/etc.
@ronnyd @zachhh I apparently have small ear holes, so earbuds shaped like these fall out of my ears. @lisagd @ronnyd i do actually kind of like those type of earbuds. There are people who sell third party clips for airpods.

No one wants me talking in their ear.
Kaloc is Colak spelled backwards. Coincidence? I think not!
@ircon96 Huh?
@ircon96 if you change each consonant to the next letter of the alphabet, you get Lamod. If you separate that into Lam and od, you get two animals, Lamb and Odie. TWS?
TWSS!
So really, does anybody have any experience with these earbuds or Kaloc products?
Listing for 3 hours? Listing what? Like a ship lists just before it sinks?
@tweezak Just a heads up… these don’t float, but they do offer 6 hours of listening per charge (not 3!)
@troy @tweezak I’m onto you! You just doubled it because there’s two of them, didn’t you?
Call them what they are: landfill.
Now with lithium batteries!
The brand brings back memories of the hard drive brand, Kalok, of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Or rather, the lack of memory since their hard drives were rather unreliable.
“These suck but they’re only 10 bucks” is an interesting marketing strategy.

@andymand you really think they have buttons for $10? Probably app controlled, and a very bad app at that

@andymand @oldmantick these have touch-capacitative controls
Thanks, @troy. Are the controls listed somewhere? Like I assume play/pause, but skip track? volume? power? Thx
@oldmantick Oh, geez! I hadn’t considered app-only controls! Yikes!
@andymand Multifunction Touch Button for Skipping Tracks, Play/Pause, Volume, ANC Modes

@irenegade FYI, the / commands only work when they start on its own line. For example, /8ball doesn’t work here, but it’ll work if I do this:
/8ball
Most likely
@irenegade @narfcake And at least one of them only works in a comment, not a reply. (/showme)
@troy good to know, thanks!

The slash 8 ball command is generally tied to a question to make it interesting.
/eightball see what I mean?
It is certain

If the ANC worked a damn these might be ok “extra” buds. My guess is the ANC doesn’t.
@ESTNYC https://meh.com/forum/topics/kaloc-tws-3-way-active-noise-cancellation-earbuds-with-charging-case#64f23af2c56c3bbed73d1938
Yeah, I am pretty sure I already know how bad the ANC is on these things.
Guess they are mailing today in and having an early labor day weekend

Funny… 5/17 is SWMBO’s b’day…
@irenegade @mediocrebot I’m disturbed by the poor grammar and punctuation in something coming from a school.
@wilrock @user06166110 @jmichaelhouse @duanewill
Tagging you all since you reviewed these buds as 5/5 stars. How are they holding up? Still enjoying them?
They are holding up well, I was really surprised by the difference between noise canceling on or off.
@Duanewill
Well folks, there you have it!
@Duanewill I can’t tell the the difference between anc off or on.
Bought these last time. They are decent, but a full charge lasts less than 2 hours.
I bought these during the mehathon. The basics work ok, but the ANC is useless. It announces whether its in ANC mode or not, but I can’t detect any change in the sound. “They’re not great, but they’re cheap.”
I couldn’t resist and I’m not disappointed. They work, and that’s good enough for me, especially at the price!
I just got the earbud and I can seem to fit them in the charging case. The crevice for the earbuds seem way to small. HELP!!
slow shipping, there terrible
ANC is non-existent. Literally does not work at all.
This has been a disappointing purchase. The right ear bud stays charged for all of about 15 minutes. The left one stays for almost 1.5 hours. I wasn’t expecting high quality, but I was expecting functional.
@jbobball Time to drop a message at meh.com/support
After 8 months they developed problems connecting. Left will connect after multiple attempts, right will not connect at all
