@CANNONFODDER I knew that the reference chased back far enough into legacy that some would not recognize the pointer, but hey, that’s one of the few perks of being ancient. Someday you’ll probably be able to do the same with Cheezburger references, assuming that the global warming catastrophe doesn’t trigger an all-out nuke battle at some point. (Humans in large groups are idiots, particularly the ones who have appointed themselves to “Leadership”. I’d be entirely unsurprised if the inevitable collapse of capitalism caused some high-ranking asshat to decide that if their game is getting cancelled, so is the whole damn world.)
I’m glad you clarified that the microphone can be put back on. I was worried they were just cheap. They are, I guess, but they’re cheap and functional.
Hard to pass up. I actually prefer wired, JVC… 1 White, 1 Black… Hope they are comfortable as my Turtle Beach. I prefer in line adjustments and mute, oh well…And I do Not need more, but I game… Always need a back-up, so 2? LOL
LOL: “lightweight design (199g)” versus “ultra-lightweight design (209g).” Also: “High-Quality 40mm Driver” versus “high-quality 40mm driver.”
I’d get the wired version, but would likely have to keep my head below desk level, given the absurdly short length of most wired cans actual wire (conveniently not given, but appears to be about 24 inches)…
I know the mandatory question is “does it work with apple?”. However, the important question, for those who don’t know, yet have grandkids who love their xbox, is “does it work with an xbox?”
Of course, “JVC” is just another old name [Japan Victor Corporation] probably sold off to somebody who slaps the name on cheap Chinese imports. I got burned on those “electrostatic” headphones, but the detachable mic is attractive. Black/wired for me.
@radi0j0hn Or, you could look things up. JVC is mostly still the same company, though they merged with Kenwood (which was also still the same company) about 15 years ago and are now JVCKenwood.
Just to make sure it’s clear, the wireless version of these headphones uses the included 2.4GHz USB transmitter (not Bluetooth) that you plug into a USB-A port on your computer or game console. Grab a couple cheap adaptors if you’ve only got USB-C ports.
@dave As long as the buyer does not plan to try to use these with a cell phone or Bluetooth-connected PA system, that’s actually a really good feature and important to know, because the 2.4GHz communications dongles usually have a greater range than Bluetooth. I don’t know if these have that extended-range capability, but at least the potential is present. And it means that the whole “pairing” thing gets sidestepped. Plus, they might work with a Win7 box, which a great many Bluetooth devices simply will not. (Once again, I have not tested this possibility, and I don’t plan to order the wireless version to find out, but I’m hoping someone will test it and post the results.)
@rickhart1959 Shipping labels are generated in large batches anywhere from hours to days prior to the day they get applied to the packages and sent out. Once the label has been generated, it’s essentially impossible to cancel; the labels are not run in an order that lends itself to finding just one in the batch, among other issues. (This is true for many, if not most, places where stuff is shipped, it’s not unique to Meh.)
@sammydog01 I’m so glad I could help. I actually don’t know why I am wasting my time replying to this. Maybe it’s just to let you know that you really should work on your stand up, before you take it public, again.
I got the wired ones. The sound sounds like it’s coming out of a barrel with a pillow over it. Is that to protect the person’s ears who plays for hours on end? Was hoping to use it to listen to music at work and attend online meetings.
All gaming headphones suck. My advice is to get devices dedicated to a single function. My set up is Sony wh-1000xm2 noise cancelling cans with an Antlion mic that snaps on magnetically when needed.

The deal sounds soundy.
@yakkoTDI Or maybe head-phoney?
JVC? What in the 1998!?
Auricles on the left and right. OK, either auricle, who will be our next president?
@phendrick I hope not, because we need to keep our best first base man.
@werehatrack That’s pretty arcane; bet most here are too young to get that.
@werehatrack AND will be very hard to google…
@phendrick Can you even say on the Left Auricle on a family site?
@sligett Looks like i did get away with it.
@phendrick @werehatrack So, what would good search terms be? Lost. Something about where to aim? Or something to do with Caligula?
@CANNONFODDER Costello baseball
@werehatrack Ah. I was way off.
@CANNONFODDER @werehatrack
That wasn’t obvious?
@phendrick @werehatrack Err, apparently not.

This sounds like a deal.
@reedmo I see what you did there.

I did not need another pair of headphones. I really didn’t. But JVC. Dammit, Meh!
I’m glad you clarified that the microphone can be put back on. I was worried they were just cheap. They are, I guess, but they’re cheap and functional.

@Mandamm I think the wireless can also work as wired?
@kus @Mandamm That’s what it says, and it’s not particularly uncommon. I prefer wired, myself.
I will play pong against these headphones since they’re gaming
I wonder who will win
@OnionSoup The ghost of Atari past.

@beachhead - FWIW, an Amazon review states this: “The Wireless version sounds amazing on my PC and is great on my Xbox and PlayStation.”
Of course, “JVC” is just another old name [Japan Victor Corporation] probably sold off to somebody who slaps the name on cheap Chinese imports. I got burned on those “electrostatic” headphones, but the detachable mic is attractive. Black/wired for me.

Does the wireless charge with USB-C?
Not looking for any more Micro stuff…
@chienfou Amazon listing shows it comes with a USB-C Cable! https://www.amazon.com/JVC-Ultralight-Connection-Detachable-Lightweight/dp/B09LGBKF42

I see they are sold out, which is a bummer. Was hoping to snag some for wife and I, never tried JVC before but heard good things.
@Mootkins They paused the deal. They aren’t sold out but they’re close. Try at 4:00 PM.
BUT - when I looked an hour or so ago they WERE sold out of the $15 wired sets so you may only be able to get the $25 wireless.
Can I cancel my order?
@rickhart1959 Contact Support to see if it’s not too late.
https://meh.com/support
I had asked 1-1/2 hrs ago that it be canceled. Thank you
And you shipped it right after I send my cancel request. Seems a little suspicious.
@rickhart1959 Wow, you got them to ship mine at the same time. Thanks!

I wish they would have shipped mine too.
They canceled my order without me asking.
@WarlordFDC Did you get a coupon?
You who canceled are the smart ones. Did anyone who got the Wireless model find it DOA? That is, no light comes on when charging.
@sjk3 Refund has been issued. The wired one does work but haven’t used it much.

Oh no. I bought these for my kids at a gift for upcoming birthdays. Are they really horrible?
All gaming headphones suck. My advice is to get devices dedicated to a single function. My set up is Sony wh-1000xm2 noise cancelling cans with an Antlion mic that snaps on magnetically when needed.
I bought the wireless ones and they will not charge.
@bware62 looks like your next stop should be meh.com/support to request assistance

Ugh. Decided to take a chance on these and didn’t open them right away. Turns out they sent the wired ones instead of the wireless ones I ordered.
@mehvid1 Looks like you’re still within the 90 warranty period …
@Kyeh thank you. I reached out and support was very helpful.
@mehvid1 Oh, good. They’ve been great the times I’ve contacted them!
