Just sharing a dinner pic with you.
9I made this for dinner
It’s called dosirak (도시락) but sounds like doshirak. In its simplest form, it is composed of white rice, a fried egg, kimchi, and some seaweed. Some versions get pretty involved and end up looking like a small picnic. Anyway, it’s not my picture and this one was far better looking than what I made but at least you get a nice representation of what it looks like. What did you all have for dinner?

A corn dog and a soft pretzel stick from Sonic. I never really ate there because it tasted like it came from a fair… But then I actually tried the foods you would find at a fair. The corn dog is one of the only ones that doesn’t give me heartburn or the burps. The pretzel… OMG. I am obsessed. I probably went there 7 times since the middle of September.
@RiotDemon Yeah I love Sonic. Especially the Ocean Water.
@RiotDemon @Targaryen I’ve always wondered what Ocean Water (at Sonic) tastes like.
I’ve tasted the natural kind; wasn’t impressed.
Is dosirak the Korean equivalent of a bento box?
@RiotDemon similar but I don’t know enough about Japanese culture to make a firm yes or no.
I had a salad.
And emu tenderloin, medium-rare, with spinach, and mushroom risotto. It was delicious.
I ate out and had lasagna with a small Geek salad. No pic. You’ll just have to trust me.
@heartny
Pork tacos and nachos. I’m just leaving a rock festival so they were way overpriced.
@cinoclav who’d ya see?

A Sam’s Club frozen cheeseburger and BBQ Fritos.
Why can’t I lose weight?
Boneless pork ribs, mashed potatoes, and apple sauce (around 7pm). Now having 1/2 cup of vanilla soft serve with blueberries (10:45pm).
@compunaut
Big salad at home. Planning on making salmon tomorrow night.
Curry bacon cheese chips for starter, toad in the hole, and sticky pudding. This morning my stomach is regretting the all the curry, and the dates. I was supposed to be on for a fry up, but I really shouldn’t leave my room.
@ruouttaurmind I’m not sure I understood anything you just wrote.
@moonhat Pub chow. Curry bacon cheese chips are fried potatoes smothered in curry sauce and topped with bacon and cheese. Not stripey bacon, but rashers (similar to Canadian back bacon).
Toad in the hole is sausages baked into a batter made from flour, eggs, milk, and seasoning (often savory seasonings).
Sticky pudding is a hearty sponge cake filled with dates and drenched in a caramel vanilla sauce with more date bits sprinkled on top.
Tasty at the time, but 12 hours of the flaming bubble guts struck at 2AM. Not worth it!
Oh, and a fry up is breakfast. Usually eggs, beans, toast, fried tomatoes and some kind of meat. Sometimes black pudding, rashers and bangers (plump sausages).
@moonhat @ruouttaurmind sounds yummy
@ruouttaurmind that all sounds delicious. Thank you for explaining!
Tonkatsu and miso pork and home grown watermelon and gyoza and a few other dishes that I forgot already. It was a feast.
Shrimp alfredo on rice pasta.
I ate lunch and then had a piece of lemon cake for dinner.
That looks… not bad, but I can’t tolerate seaweed. I like kimchi, but only by itself.
Friday’s dinner was out at a Mexican restaurant- shrimp & chorizo quesadilla with Mexican street corn on the side.
I made fried chicken, mashed potatoes and onion rings and there were a couple pieces left over for cold fried chicken lunch! I found a recipe a few years back online that’s very pared down: no buttermilk, no herbs. Salted chicken, peppered flour and hot-sauced egg wash. So it makes the fried chicken doable on short notice. I added zaatar to the dry ingredients last night, and it was a hit.
I can’t find the recipe now. Sorry. But y’all have to believe me it’s super simple and turns out nicely.
@2palms wow that sounds really tasty!! Are you sure you can’t find the recipe?
@moonhat OK I was not able to find it in the cookbooks last night but it is very similar to this one online:
https://food52.com/blog/18000-is-paula-deen-s-fried-chicken-recipe-the-bestest-of-them-all
I know my recipe didn’t come from the same source. It’s a shade simpler. 3 bowls: Raw chicken gets the salt ; Beaten eggs gets the hot sauce ; self-rising flour gets lots of ground pepper.
But it’s pretty close to this recipe. Give it a shot! Especially if you have an electric deep fryer already filled with oil
@2palms hmm, we do have a little one already filled with oil. I’m gonna have to print this out and think about it sounds wonderful!
I’ve been sick in bed with a cold so I had a PB&J and also a root beer float. Total comfort foods that weren’t very comforting really.
I had the best grilled mahi mahi taco. I normally do not like fish tacos, but this one was amazing!
Decided to save the salmon for tomorrow night when I’m cooking dinner for friends. So tonight I had Oscar Mayer cheese franks with bacon, sauerkraut and brown mustard. Breakfast was fried eggs with cheese and bacon. 14 days into Keto diet.
@moondrake That looks good! Franks and 'kraut is one of my favorite things to eat
I really need to get back onto Keto. I dropped 20 lbs in 6 weeks the last time – and I’m about 20 lbs higher than my ideal weight right now. The math just adds up!
@capguncowboy I’ve lost 10 in 2 weeks but I have a lot to lose and the first pounds are the easiest.
I was feeling lazy, so asparagus, green beans and bacon.
Last night I finally got around to making a boxed kung pao chicken meal kit I had bought a few months ago. It was actually pretty good. I went ahead and cooked up a couple pounds of chicken while cooking last night so today will be chicken something.
Skipped it. Lately I don’t feel like eating. Had a small bowl of homemade miso soup for lunch, though
Spaghetti.
@unmlobo300
Last night I had meatballs… Nothing with them.
I’m also “keeping it keto”… that’s sirloin fillet and lobster. Both prepared sous vide, the steak was seared in a cast iron skillet at the end. Cauliflower rice seasoned with cajun blackening powder and a few other goodies. Mixed salad had cabbage, a bit of olives, pickled onions and mixed greens.
Kids had the same but white rice instead of cauliflower plus they had macaroni salad as well.
People feel sorry for me when they hear how restrictive keto is…
@jester747 Here’s tonight’s concoction… Zucchini and spinach lasagna.
Although this is totally keto-friendly I’m considering it my first cheat meal because of the cheese. I was given this eating plan by a doctor, it’s keto plus no-dairy, no fried, low acids. I don’t follow the alkaline-foods mumbo jumbo, but I promised the doc that I’d follow his plan to a T if it worked. Started in late January and I’m down 90 pounds so I kinda think it is. About 30 more to go.
I must say, I’ve never been lactose intolerant or anything but having eaten this after so much time being dairy-free I can tell that there’s something different being digested. Nothing major just an off feeling.
