Most Made for IPhone lightning connectors don't. This is why I always buy a case with an open bottom so I can dock it properly.

I have a different speaker doc that I can use an aux cable with and it does work my laptop.

Whether or not they're better than your laptop speakers will be up to you, though.

@ceagee, like @cettel said, you'd still need AC or batteries to use them as a speaker for your Mac.
