@CaptAmehrican You could do the boat of the day for years and not run out… perhaps a permanent goat thing in the works? And see - you are being a good goat.
Like that boat, as you said, fun to sail and would be fun to own. The only catch (for me) is that it is hard to sail solo in much of a wind. Well and the other catch is it feels like a bathtub toy that can capsize compared to a 100 ton schooner. Most of what I did was solo sailing when sailing bathtub toys. LOL
I have owned
(well used and trashed when I bought it) flying junior (15’) but mine had a red hull with a white deck, etc.
Barnett 1400 (14’) - used and in practically perfect condition
@f00l Then you’d be able to sail the Barnett 1400 I had and with about 5 min of messing around learning what to do with the jib and the flying junior by yourself instantly since it is rigged like the sunfish. Much fun.
I learned to sail on an old Comet in the days of long ago, but the boat I mentioned in a previous boat thread was the next step - a Coastal Recreation Aquarius 23 (more than 24’ with bowsprit etc.) At just a foot or so longer than that J22 it was trailable and had a step-mast so you could take it anywhere there was a boat ramp. It had a tiny galley and was capable of sleeping four, though a little tight in the bow double, and the two other people had to sleep in sort of slots under the cockpit seats. We vacationed on it until my parents were too old to sail - I wish I was organized enough to have her now! We took it all over the east coast, from Hatteras to Georgian Bay.
@aetris Sounds like a blast and what a great thing for kids to experience. My family took us car camping every summer all over the place. That was fun too. I miss living by the ocean. A reservoir just isn’t the same. Haven’t for a while now.
Moar than just a dinghy, goat!
I’m into this boat of day thing. I’m the least nautical person ever- but I could follow this
@naropa I am glad it is fun even for the less nautical.

@Kidsandliz i am being the meh boat, i still refuse to goat.

The J-22 is a fine craft. I’ve raced other Melges boats, in a previous life.
I’ve sailed a sunfish all by myself.
Woohoo!

My submission for boat of day: this Viking 35 Convertible, with a very big, bouncy bow ornament!
@PooltoyWolf
(You know we’re going to want more details in the future, right?)
@narfcake Of course! Ready, willing, and able…Fenris tends to turn heads
@PooltoyWolf (future) GoaT!!!
@mfladd Oh noooooooo
@PooltoyWolf
@mfladd I like it here o3o

This is more of what I am used, to for a sailboat.
@CaptAmehrican
I wonder if any of the home-build boats from Mechanix Illustrated or Popular Mechanics will make the list this month…
