@jbartus Yes, sir. At 10th and S since 1934. I think this video was the last time I played there. First time would have been about 1997 with Natalie Cortez and the Ultra Violets. I had a lot of fun times playing there.
@sammydog01 That’s very kind of you but we disbanded a while ago. And we were never popular enough to tour all the way to Virginia anyway. We had “regional fame” in the Sacramento area. The other Steves (we are all named Steve) are still active in Sacramento music. Steve Randall, the guitar player in the middle is in a band called Bellygunner with Gabe Nelson, the bass player from Cake.
If you send me your mailing address in an email, (my meh name at mac.com) I’ll send you a CD.
The first 6 Frigates of US Navy were Constitution, Constellation, Chesapeake, President,Congress, and United States. USS Constitution is the oldest US warship still in the Navy. It was vs the Guerriere that she earned her nickname old ironsides.
@CaptAmehrican it is also the oldest commissioned warship in the world still afloat. The Brits refuse to decommission the HMS Victory in typical redcoat fashion denying the Constitution her rightful place as the oldest commissioned warship. A ship that is in permanent drydock which would sink the instant it was set loose into the water isn’t really a ship at all, don’t you think? More like an oddly shaped building.
@AttyVette i always said i boat i do not goat. So our peers elevated me as goat. I will boat. This month you and our fellow meh members will have highlighted a variety of boats
@CaptAmehrican My father was on the Constellation…of course it was a much more modern version. It was called the jinx ship when he was on it because of so many bad/unexplained things that happened on and to the ship.
Hey I was there. Well, not in that picture, but the ship. Fun fact: There are actual US Navy sailors manning the ship. I tried very hard to get stationed on that ship, it’s pretty tight selection.
One grandfather was an old salt. Went to sea as a teenager with the Navy (ran away from home and lied about his age). Had been around the world before he was 20.
@2many2no That is sweet! I recently bought an OldTown canoe on Craigslist that seats three and has the square end for the kids and I can take advantage of all the waterways on The Shore.
ENGINES CANNIBALIZED, DECK PLATES UNBOLTED AND PARTIALLY REMOVED TO ACCESS FUEL TANK, ALL FILL VALVES FOR SPONSON HAVE BEEN REMOVED.
TRAILER INFORMATION: PACIFIC DUAL-AXLE ALUMINUM TRAILER
(VIN: 40R6A2ML2EA030688) IS INCLUDED IN THE SALE, HOWEVER MAY NOT BE ROAD WORTHY; PLEASE PLAN REMOVAL ACCORDINGLY.
@OldCatLady Sadly I had to sell my Barnett 14 sailboat several years ago to keep afloat on land (along with my - all bought used- hilo mojo trailer, 88 nissan sunrader, canoe, kayak… basically all my toys). Used to have a flying junior that had been capsized in an oil spill, was sea worthy but looked like total shit and won ugliest boat on the water way back when.
@Kidsandliz I’ve never owned a vessel, but had friends who did. In exchange for some maintenance work and crewing, I got to do the fun stuff. Sadly, it turns out I’m allergic to fiberglass dust, so no more sanding. Darn.
@OldCatLady I sent the info to my sister. She and her husband have always wanted to move to Florida and do tours…fishing, diving, etc. I wasn’t a houseboat or a pontoon, although a sailboat would be nice too.
The book was good too.
Old Ironsides, “Boston, baby!”
@mfladd I played at Old Ironsides:
@SSteve Sacramento right?
@jbartus Yes, sir. At 10th and S since 1934. I think this video was the last time I played there. First time would have been about 1997 with Natalie Cortez and the Ultra Violets. I had a lot of fun times playing there.
@SSteve I would go see you. Let me know if you hit Virginia.

@SSteve Thanks- I sent an email. Looking forward to it.

@CaptAmehrican I see what you are doing — trying to get our “boat” right ?
@AttyVette i always said i boat i do not goat. So our peers elevated me as goat. I will boat. This month you and our fellow meh members will have highlighted a variety of boats
@CaptAmehrican
/giphy Boat Goat
@f00l
Relevance uncertain to non-existent.
But the giphy stays, because many of us could use a tropical paradise at this moment.
@f00l It has Goat Island, and a glass-bottomed boat. Close enough.
@CaptAmehrican My father was on the Constellation…of course it was a much more modern version. It was called the jinx ship when he was on it because of so many bad/unexplained things that happened on and to the ship.
@mehbee the frigate or the sloop? I presume the latter given you said father but…
@jbartus It’s sad that I don’t know, he was in 13 years but got out the year I was born. It was whatever type it was in the sixties.
@mehbee that would be the sloop then, stationed in Baltimore Harbor
@jbartus I will have to make a trip then. He had some bad memories of her because of the jinxiness but he had many more wonderful memories.
@mehbee I mean, I’m assuming you are referring to a sailing vessel and not the aircraft carrier.
@CaptAmehrican
I am loving these topics.
Get long winded if you have the time and want to. I’ll read it.

@Targaryen a friend of mine in high school’s grandfather was Commander of her.
@Targaryen
Cool that you tried.
One grandfather was an old salt. Went to sea as a teenager with the Navy (ran away from home and lied about his age). Had been around the world before he was 20.
Veteran, Spanish-American War.
@jbartus Well damn wish I had known back then.
@f00l Yeah my grandfather was the same, not Spanish-American but the Korean War.
@Targaryen I was docked within walking distance of it back when I worked on a 100 ton schooler
I’m not much of a boat person, but this is awesome!
Still commissioned and manned by the U.S. Navy.
The craftsmanship of this vessel is amazing.
I do like a nice canoe.

Anybody want to buy a slightly used Zodiac? How about an aluminum thing with twin Evinrudes and a trailer?https://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/aucitsrh/?sl=91QSCI18029311
@OldCatLady That is very cool. I wish I had a way of getting it, I’d take my chance at a bid.
@mehbee Fly there, rent something with a trailer hitch, and bring it home. Or look at the other listings, and dream some more.
@OldCatLady
Sounds like a project for sure.
@djslack Details!

@mehbee Keep looking at the GSA sales; most are ex-military but some surprising things turn up. It’s all caveat emptor.
@OldCatLady I’m all about the caveating!
@mfladd Gorgeous!!
I thought that was a ship.
@OldCatLady - riiiight - over 100’ and it’s a ship, eh?
@OldCatLady for boat of the day all water vessels will be considered.
@CaptAmehrican What kind of boat is this one?
@therealjrn
Waterford?
@therealjrn one best filled with a schooner of beer
