@phendrick I always kinda wondered just what purified water is, compared to filtered water and distilled water. Maybe “ultra” filtered or is is just marketing-speak for filtered?
@tohar1@tweezak Well, there was that time I was on a bus in Nicaragua (a old American school bus) waiting to leave the busyard/station. I was sitting next to an open window, the sun was shining, and it started raining. (Whaaat?) It splashed in just a little bit. Then I heard footsteps on the roof of the bus…
@PooltoyWolf I lived in Florida for a few years. The beach was miserable because it was so hot and humid and the water was warm. Who wants to take a warm bath when it’s hot and humid?
@pmarin
Maybe. From what I’ve been told there’s a hole at the bottom that goes to some underground caves. They had to block off that hole because too many people have gone down and died.
@kittykat9180@pmarin
I think that’s actually the Blue hole in Santa Rosa New Mexico… I was just there in july. And yes that water is freaking cold. Diving in from the edge and swimming across was a lot of fun though.
@kittykat9180@pmarin When I checked into the county park they mentioned that they were having fireworks that night so we decided to spend the night in town. I went down and checked into the RV park then brought the rig back and set it up on the parking lot so we could have dinner and watch the fireworks. We had primo seats. Of course an hour before the show a storm blew through and just about ripped the awning off the side of the RV. Thankfully we got a nice rainbow out of it and it cleared up in time for them to go ahead and shoot off the fireworks.
What is this “fun” you speak of? Especially during the Summertime?!? I work, then I work, and then I work some more. Pretty much 7 days per week. (I did take last Saturday off I guess) Most days I do get a good walk in at the end of the day, even if Ma Nature decides to grace us with some precipitation…so I guess I’ll go with that as my answer.
Back in my youth, it was a hike to the beach or cove. Maybe sit in the shade of a tree.
Then it was the neighbors who set up an outdoor pool.
Eventually it became a sprinkler and some tarp in the backyard.
When it came down to sitting down in the frozen foods aisle of a supermarket, I just stayed home and slept.
@chienfou We used to just rent them when we went to the island, but I figured out that I could buy one for just a bit more than a week’s rental. It was an inflatable SUP and in my brain I was thinking fancy pool toy, but it is actually a sturdy craft
I did buy a proper air pump, because there is no way I’m doing that manually Ain’t nobody got time for that
@capnjb
Absolutely that! (Pricing and sturdiness)
I was totally amazed at how rigid an SUP is at only 11 psi. Blew my mind. And plug-in air pump is the way to go. I’ve actually got mine set up so that I can use a portable power bank to run it at the beach side rather than being tied to doing it in the parking lot.
After my hip replacement I generally use mine more as a kayak, and there are some really nice clip-in kayak seats that make it very comfortable to do that. We have two of them and enjoy the heck out of them.
@chienfou What pump did you find? Mine needs a 12v car outlet but it’s not so bad since we typically have a house on the water when we go to the coast, but we have several lakes around here that my wife would like to explore and filling it by the shore would likely be better than the parking lot and walking it down the long path And I have all the batteries

I think mine goes to 14 psi. I could be wrong. But my pump remembers It shuts off whenever it’s done and it gives me a nod and tells me, ‘have fun, don’t get eaten by a shark’
@capnjb
I may have a slightly mispoken. I’m using a jump starter pack like you would use for a car. The one I have (Tacklife …from here) came with a cigarette plug adapter. If you have one that doesn’t have the adapter you can order them cheaply from that " A " site…
@chienfou I actually have two of those. And I think they both might actually both have the 12V socket. I didn’t even think of that. I’ll have to give those a test run
Spent yesterday (95ish with 90+ humidity) trying to reclaim the veggie garden after being gone for 3+ weeks. Jumped in the pool every couple of hours to drop the body temp to some manageable level.

@capnjb
I was in Roswell for 4th of July during the alien fest. Pretty cool. Got a picture of the granddaughter and cousin from France with a whole group of Star wars decked out folks. It was fun.
BTW I love that picture of you!
@chienfou
During the pandemic, my wife taught taught pre-k through a laptop. I would frequently do a drive by Stormtrooper dance when she was on camera
@chienfou The kids did love it. She would bolt as soon as I entered the frame. I’d look at her and ask ‘how do I get out of this’. Her answer was always ‘just dance your way out’ I’m glad no one was rolling video
We are all about the water! Oregon kind of spoils us for it. Now I just need to figure out how to make it down to Crater Lake before the end of the summer.
Swim with the fishes.
Go to the lake.
Stay home. Water immersion is off limits for me until further notice.
@werehatrack very much so. The sun hates me.
Make do with what you have

@lonocat
So many things to go wrong in that picture… especially Kitty nails and inflatable pools!
Watch a 1960s beach movie with Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon.
/showme a realistic cat swimming laps in a regular pool
@mediocrebot Is that cat doing a dog paddle? Is that even legal?
@mediocrebot @phendrick No, he’s doing the crawl.
@Kyeh @mediocrebot @phendrick No, it looks like they’re disengaging their cloak.
People are animals. Don’t want to be in the same body of water with them.
@Salanth That’s how you make people soup.
Purified water is a decent chaser for a good scotch.
@phendrick I always kinda wondered just what purified water is, compared to filtered water and distilled water. Maybe “ultra” filtered or is is just marketing-speak for filtered?
Are golden showers still a thing?
@tweezak Ew…

Yeah, a thing of the past. Hopefully!
@tweezak I sure as heck hope not! But you do you boo!
@tohar1 @tweezak Well, there was that time I was on a bus in Nicaragua (a old American school bus) waiting to leave the busyard/station. I was sitting next to an open window, the sun was shining, and it started raining. (Whaaat?) It splashed in just a little bit. Then I heard footsteps on the roof of the bus…
@ItalianScallion @tweezak I repeat…eeeeew!
@tohar1 @tweezak My thoughts exactly… when I realized it wasn’t rain!
It’s too hot for the beach, I don’t have a pool, and water parks are too expensive…so I don’t get to have water-related fun at all.
@PooltoyWolf You could set up the sprinkler…
@Kyeh Actually, a couple of the outdoor inflatables need washed, one of which is a sprinkler…
@PooltoyWolf I lived in Florida for a few years. The beach was miserable because it was so hot and humid and the water was warm. Who wants to take a warm bath when it’s hot and humid?
Leave the state and go to San Diego.
I did recently go here in June. It’s a couple hours drive from my house.
@kittykat9180
Looks beautiful
@kittykat9180 @Star2236 so do the floating white and red buoys mark the locations of the bodies?
@pmarin
Maybe. From what I’ve been told there’s a hole at the bottom that goes to some underground caves. They had to block off that hole because too many people have gone down and died.
@kittykat9180 @pmarin

@chienfou @pmarin correct.
This is July so you were there earlier this month?
@kittykat9180 @pmarin
Yes on the 5th.

Outdoor concert season
I stay at home in the air conditioning.
My ninety degree rule says stay inside if it is over 90 degrees.
I just like to bother my wife with a drone while she is on a SUP.
@capnjb
I love our SUPs!

@chienfou are you sure we don’t live in the same house? Because that’s exactly what I did Sunday.
@chienfou
During the pandemic, my wife taught taught pre-k through a laptop. I would frequently do a drive by Stormtrooper dance when she was on camera
@chienfou I’m scared to see what happens when I finish my Vader build
@capnjb
I’m sure that got her extra points with her Pre-K students!
