It's official: 3DR Solo MSRP drops to $799
0Today 3DR announced they've lowered MSRP on the Solo to $799.95, and on the Solo Gimbal to 199.95. $1,000 is still too rich for me, but I'm keeping my eye on B&H and Adorama and the like, waiting for a sale or promotional deal for... maybe $750 with gimbal, or $800 with gimbal and a spare battery, or something like that.

They fear the p4!
Thinking about getting one? :)
@garyhgaryh I've been wanting one since they announced them in 2014. Aside from the price, the only thing I'm concerned about is some owners have reported a GPS stability issue they suspect is related to the location of the battery. The battery is on the top of the UAV and some folks believe this is causing signal lock issues. I surely don't want to wrap up another $1,000 in a system that's going to give me fits. So I'm watching, reading and learning before I hop on.
@ruouttaurmind I wanted one of these, but now I'd either go for a cheap P3 or a P4 (love the follow me with obstacle avoidance).
@garyhgaryh The feature set on the P4 definitely has me intrigued. The closed system definitely turns me off. Built-in camera and gimbal (that you can't even remove for transport) is a problem for me. As camera technology advances, it would be nice to be able to simply upgrade my GoPro (ala Solo). But with the P4, you're married to the system you have, married to DJI for replacement and repair parts.
But it surely does promise some impressive features, innit.
@ruouttaurmind The issue about the closed system is a point that will come up eventually when the camera or gimbal is damaged. I have a friend with a P2 Vision plus and he has had gimbal issues that basically has left him in limbo. DJI had his v2+ for almost two months (it got lost at DJI).
