Well, heās home now and seems pretty okay, but very hungry since heās been without food since 8 pm last night. They took out some teeth; he has 8 new holes in his gums and I have one big hole in my bank account.
But Iām so relieved that heās going to be feeling better; his mouth has been bad for a while.
@Kyeh@OnionSoup Lately I have noticed that while the dark patches on his head and rear quarters have remained black, the patch over his shoulders and mid-back is starting to fade to a hint of dark rusty brown. If he went full calico, he might be worth some $$. (Instead of just a lazy overweight lap warmer )
@Kyeh The kitty where you can see her blue eyes I found in the median strip of the highway on my way to work 14 years ago. She was about 6 weeks old. The one sleeping on the cat tree I picked up on campus when she had been dumped at the end of the term. She had been abused and needed several bone pieces removed from her jaw, a bunch of teeth that had been broken off at the jaw line and now infected taken care ofā¦ Took her 2 years not to flinch when Iād try to pet her coming at the top of her head from the front. Now she is fine with that and is the biggest love bug ever. She is glued to me. She is about 7 (was about a year when I got her).
@Kyeh Of course Mr. Road Kill took posession of my pillow as I was ready to go to bed last night. Because of course. It. Is. Not. My. Pillow. Let alone my bed.
Smokey: (this is about the only way that sheāll let you pet her for more than a few seconds. If you cradle her sheāll stay that way almost indefinitely.)
@chienfou Heh. As others have observed, we knew that those two were going to move in with you. I have a kitten here at the moment that looks a lot like bandit, and is about 8 months old. She has gone from being a hissy little feral to very accommodating to scritches in the past week and a half. I think she has decided that sheād rather have a gig with us than be at large. I just had her fixed last week.
@werehatrack
both are still outdoor/indoor cats. They spend the vast majority of their time outside, but will come in to eat from the feeder (or get some wet food) or visit us to be sure we arenāt doing anything TOO interesting (or havenāt received a new Amazon Box cat toy.)
@ironcheftoni I have one cat tree from the early/mid 1980ās, another from about 1990-91 and one from about 2008. I have had to replace the carpet on the oldest and re-screw in the raised sides (like your cat has a paw over and is supported by). I now have my first and only cat (the orange one) who uses the rug on the trees as a scratching pad.
I no longer have any indoor cats, but I have some outdoor ones (of the canine variety) that hang around on my patio. I donāt feed them, but I also donāt chase them away as they cut down on the local mouse population.
@macromeh@pmarin My yellow cat (further up the thread) is rolled up exactly in the same way although this cat ended up a bit ārounderā than mine did.
@Kyeh
Thanks. Kind of reminds me of some of the stuff my mother-in-law used to do with watercolors. She had an amazing ability to transmit light and reflections! I miss her (new) paintings still.
@chienfou Sort of reminds me of one you posted when he was littler where he was also very wet from jumping in to go after them I think it was? At least I think it was you that posted that.
@chienfou learning how to make cats yawn is the best skill I ever learnt!
Find a cat at rest.
Gently with one finger stroke it between the eyes on the top of its nose for a few seconds.
Step back and wait, usually about 5 seconds after that it will give a massive yawn.
You have to be ready with camera because usually the trick only works once and then you have to wait a few hours before doing it again. Works on most cats but not all cats.
The sleepier the cat the more likely the stroking nose between eyes trick will work. It sometimes works on a completely wide awake cat but it will be a smaller yawn.

@januarymick He is keeping an eye on you.
Iād participate but our cats are only regional.
@macromeh Oh, come on - those cats are fun to see, especially the one who looks like Adam Driver.
@Kyeh You mean Wishbone Soul Patch? (AKA McGee)
Here he is with his equally choncky sister, Molly.
@macromeh Yay!
@Kyeh @macromeh he looks like he could be brother of my cat, (and best bud) Badger. Similar shape, head shape, markings, fur length.

@macromeh @OnionSoup Badger - good name. Why not put in a photo, so we can compare them?
Edit: oh, you did! Cool!
These are from today taken for this thread:
Road kill on my bed.
Not road kill. On a bed that belongs to them.
Why use a bed when you can use a cat tree?
All of you have it wrong. The floor is best.
@Kidsandliz I love cat #2ās blue eyes.
@Kyeh Cat #3 has blue eyes too.
@Kidsandliz Thatās kind of unusual - are they related?
@Kyeh No. They are both mixed mutt with Lynx Siamese and Siamese have blue eyes.
@Kidsandliz Oh - you got lucky!

@ironcheftoni I am glad to see that my cats arenāt the only ones who destroy cat tree rugs.
@Kidsandliz That is a 35 year old tree that has seen much love, survived 5 moves and many cats over the years.
Missy is in her Meh bed that I got for her when they were offered not too long ago. Except to eat and visit the litter box, she rarely leaves it.

@rockblossom Oh, nice! Foxes do seem like the most feline of the canines.
Happy Halloween!
This was my sister-in-lawās cat. Sadly gone this Spring.
I call this position Sourdough Boule Cat
@pmarin Is that a cat or a tribble?
