@Portlis we've been in constant lack of supplies lately. It was literally all we had.
The spoons have vanished. Paper towels are scarce. People are drinking coffee out of whatever containers they can find. I don't know if we'll make it through the summer.
@JonT Did you ever think that a certain someone who put their career on the line by buying such a large number of currently advertised ice cream makers, and who found out there was to be a "tasting" whilst that certain someone wasn't going to be around to partake, might have been brilliant enough to stash all the spoons, bowls and paper towels that are in our head office, fulfillment center and neighboring places of work?
@Portlis I prefer to call them "leaky spoons". Remember, spoon is all you need. You would think the people at Meh would know that and only have spoons in the office.
@medz So, just for honesty and transparency, yes, the lights did play some tricks on the ice cream. For the purpose of the time-lapse, we ran the machine a little longer than what is recommended. The lights plus the extra time left us with ice cream that was just under perfect texture. It still came together well and tasted great, but the texture was somewhere between soft-serve and regular ice cream.
No, I wouldn't recommend using an array of film lights to make your ice cream.
@ChadP I really liked "It's Ice Cream Time" at the very tail end also. Was that an older Sony Contour? Midland Action Cam? Difficult to make it out. Just curious.
@ChadP Unfreakingbelievable - and had I not just witnessed it with my own eyes I'd have slapped you harder than the doctor did when you were born and called you a liar. I thought it might have been a Midland . . . guess I'll be in for three (to use the phrase) the next time they go up so we can eval them. If you can pull footage for the Web like that off a Midland Action Cam - well, hell . . . I'm dumb but I ain't stupid, I know a good value when I see one.
@Pavlov Thanks. @moose will be happy you you enjoyed the Midland. I thought it worked really well with the GoPro. The two matched well, outside of typical GoPro color issues.
@ChadP If you enable Protune you get a flatter color profile with more data that you can correct / match in post - but I feel your pain on the color issues with GoPro. Plus, fixing it is time consuming and really best left to a pro - but I really can relate. We've taken to using an ND filter full time on all our older GoPro cameras - we've got more Hero 2's than I can shake a stick at and although we lose an effective stop to the filter, the result is worth it in most instances. Flatter profile without Protune and easier to correct.
@Pavlov Yeah, I'm thinking of going ND filter all the time on my GoPro. Protune is easier to match for me, but wouldn't mind a flatter overall video. Damn kids filming their snowboardings.
@ChadP There are a lot of people that say the ND filter will help with the "Jell-O" effect also - we use isolation mounts (either rubber bushings or wire) so I couldn't speak to the effectiveness of the filter alone re: that issue. I, personally, have never combined ProTune w/ the filter (although I would think someone on my end has, I'll ask tomorrow when I go in the studio) - that might be interesting now that I consider it - may have to give it a try.
@caseyapeterson Looks like someone in the background was anxiously looking forward to having some ice cream.
KuoH
@kuoh Ice cream should be its own food group. :)
@katherine It is, kinda. I don't mind it having to share with chocolate cake and candy bars.
KuoH
"tastes like ice cream". That's all I need to hear.
Ice cream was actually really good. Would try more complicated recipes in the future, but the simple recipe was great.
Why are you people eating ice cream with forks instead of spoons?!
@Portlis it's an office thing, it is a mystery as old as "where did my pudding cup go?".
@Portlis we've been in constant lack of supplies lately. It was literally all we had.

Don't get mad, don't get even... get AHEAD

@Lister Thank you for reminding me of this:
@Willijs3 My daughters still sing this song all the time. I couldn't forget about it if i tried.
Looks like a lot more work than grabbing a pint of Ben & Jerry's...
@katylava - With so much immediate attention to grammatical syntax, it is no wonder you're a programmer.
Nice budget setup guys - more than one light source was utilized it seems - the world as I know it might be coming to an end.
Franky, really good job on the time-lapse - the sequencing was ultra smooth. A+!
@Pavlov i was very tired.
@Pavlov Thanks! We were happy with the time-lapse setup. Also happy with our "this is what's available" lighting.
@Pavlov Franky had nothin' to do with this!
@ChadP Did the heat from the lights impact the ice cream in any way? Would you recommend mixing the ice cream under such lights at home?

@Pavlov It's Ice Cream Time is magic. Glad you enjoyed.
Midland Action Camera all the way. Those things are pretty useful for their form factor. Video is super usable.

Amazing. Again, really good little clip.

I have two ice cream makers already. What I need is a deep fryer. For ten bucks. Like the kind you've only had available one. Stinking. Time.
That's all I have room for.
@lisaviolet Have you tried putting boiling oil into the ice cream maker's canister? Then how do you know it won't work?
@editorkid you make a very good point.
@editorkid I'd try, but I ain't cleanin' it.
@ChadP No, he doesn't. Be quiet.
@ChadP And if something does go wrong, what, she's already got two more. I'm not understanding her hesitation here.
Ha, this video was awesome. Was nice to see how it's suppose to work. The slight How It's Made vibe made it that much better.
@DrunkCat For the spinning machine part, I kept expecting the How It's Made voiceover guy to break in.
