I love it when the 13th falls on a Friday. I almost always include 13 when I play the lottery, tho I only play it when a group at the office or friends, etc. is playing… And I call it “I Told You So insurance” because I’m only playing so that on the slight chance of a group win, they won’t be able to say “See! I told you were wrong about the math!”
The explanation and math are a bit tedious for those who don’t like such things, but I find it fascinating that statistically, the 13th of the month is slightly more likely to be a Friday than any other day. I take every Friday the 13th off of work as it’s a very lucky day/number for me. Both of my siblings & a cousin were all born on the 13th of the month - February, March & September! This year has 3 Friday the 13ths…February, March & November!!!
I apparently will listen to the wind scream through the chimney while watching late night/news on YouTube so I can check the the system early after the prod linux maintenance/patching/reboot.
Seems like a good day for it lol. Fridays are normally a scream. Let’s tempt fate.
By getting on an airplane and knowing my tenant will leave every light on while I’m gone because utilities are included in the rent.
I’ll also wonder how many dirty dishes will sit in his room the whole time. Dude is worse than a lazy teenager.

Granted not turning off lights would bother me in my house. But. Not in your control. Also you’re not responsible for his dishes or dating prospects so if he’s not attracting pests/actually trashing the place…
Maybe deep breath. Whoosah. Try and enjoy your trip? In some small way even if it’s work. Definitely if it’s vacation. To many reasons to be grabbing a flight… Hopefully not family emergency

Edison bulbs in most of the house but fluorescent bulbs, those long tube ones, in the garage. The garage light is the one he leaves on most often.
Filthying up my house is certainly my business. Especially when I want to get a glass of water, but all the glasses are dirty in his room. Or when I want to go in the backyard and it smells of dog business.
I will be giving him a 30 day notice on 1 May.

@Kyeh sorry, it’s not like an actual flood it’s just the way the house is built into the hill. And the ground water level. It’s just annoying/I can divert some of it to a drain I put in up hill. I just wasn’t ready for that big storm that early. Water just comes pouring in a window well and most goes to a floor drain. Just not all this time lol. So your more than welcome to some free water

@kittykat9180 ah. Well renting a room/sharing spaces is definitely very different than just being the landlord of a separate place.
Venting is often helpful. So is not stressing about things you can’t change until it’s time. Sounds like you have the plan

I think it’s the hundreds of delayed and canceled flights in/out of ORD due to high winds and equipment damage.
