We voted the week we got our mail in ballots. We had signed up for tracking and followed their progress to make sure they made it to where they needed to be.
i’ve voted by mail in two different states and neither one of them sends an ‘i voted’ sticker with the ballot. i just want my damn sticker. it’d be much less confusing than this one:
Unpopular opinion. Encouraging “everyone” to vote is a bad idea (at least on election day).
Encouraging everyone to educate themselves to vote is a good thing. Telling people to vote even if they haven’t been paying attention is reckless. In my opinion, voting without understanding what is at stake is irresponsible.
Maybe it isn’t a huge deal in Presidential elections. You might even be able to argue that its the first step of getting someone engaged. But in smaller local elections that are sometimes decided by a few dozen votes or fewer, do we really want people making a choice between two names they have never seen before, merely based on which name they like better? It may only take a handful of these uninformed voters to swing an election. And don’t get me started on propositions or referendums that may include quadruple or quintuple negatives (e.g. “To discontinue the law prohibiting the ban of cars that don’t meet the requirement of not exceeding a maximum decibel level of 80 dB”). Those aren’t the sort of things about which people should be making a snap judgment while in the voting booth.
I strongly feel that it should be advocated, “if you aren’t informed, don’t vote”.
@tinamarie1974 What party are they? I know Republicans are pachyderms and Dems are asses, but I haven’t encountered the frog mascot yet, though I think they are much cuter than the previous two. Might they be for the Green party? Or are they maybe Libertarians, since they are hunkering down from the political storm?
Voted already! – so here’s a circa 1996 Pinky and the Brain shirt:
@narfcake I love that!
@callow @narfcake and I want that. @meh, make it happen!
@callow @narfcake @njfan no
@narfcake Username checks out.

@mehcuda67 @mike808 Probably not.
But maybe if you vote here…
@Kyeh
“Don’t forget to vote if you haven’t already”
haven’t what? forgotten? voted?
@graffito
never mind… it doesn’t apply to you…
@chienfou @graffito that’s good, as I’ve already forgotten if I remembered to forget that I remembered to vote. Already.
@chienfou @stolicat
Well, it’s been a long year.
Or, ich bin ein Berliner.
@graffito
which, contrary to urban mythology, does not mean I am a donut…
Already dropped off all 12 of my ballots. Had to drive all over the place to avoid using the same drop box more than once. What a pain.
@tweezak
@tweezak good job

@DrWorm I think there are several good reasons to not vote. Being uninformed is only one of them.
Just injecting some smiles

I’m wearing my I Like Irk shirt today.
@sammydog01 Mine still hasn’t made it to the wash pile.
@narfcake @sammydog01 do you just have an entire room for t-shirts now? I know your old photo of your closet is probably way out of date now.
