We’ve had our first half way hot day yesterday. Absolutely not looking forward to the rest of summer. I hate being hot. You can only take off so many clothes before the cops are called.
@kjady It’s freaking freezing here. Maybe we should switch. I’m so tired of the cold. I’ve never lived in a place where I had to run the heater through May. I just moved here in February. And i only live 250 miles north of where I was.
@DLPanther Thirty-ish years ago, as he was coming out of the post office, a friend of mine had a kitten run screaming out of the bushes, run up his jeans and fasten itself to his jacket. He put his hands around it to keep it from climbing any farther, and it stopped screaming, blinked, and fell asleep. As he told me later, he just said “Well, I guess I have a cat now.” He took it home, and it stayed.
@DLPanther@werehatrack Yep I have had several cat/ kittens adopt me at various time in my life. Sadly they don’t live that long. & they steal a piece of your heart. You then have a hold when they are gone!
@phendrick@werehatrack If it trespasses onto your property I’d imagine a stand your ground action would allow you to shoot - although it likely would be a good idea to strongly anchor yourself and hunting blind before you decided to act.
@Weboh@yakkoTDI They made mehgaritas in a returned blender and then repacked it to go out in an IRK, perhaps?
What would be the recipe for a Mehgarita?
Possible suggestions:
1.5 oz cheapest available tequila
1 oz generic triple sec
1 oz store-brand reconstituted lime juice
Shake over ice
Or
1/2 can agave wine
generous splash of Everclear
3 oz Bluebird brand “orange juice”
dollop of simple syrup
one slightly over-age key lime, crushed
shake over ice, strain.
Tomorrow is my last day at a job I have come to hate…hate it so much I quit without having another job - have been there 23 years but the pandemic decimated my team and it has been a series of re-orgs, new leadership several times and too much negative change. Therefore, AMAZING for the lack of stress and tears followed by a European vacation with the kiddos. Will be even better if I find a job.
@pakopako That system ate your life through the years when you were best equipped to enjoy it. Steal back everything you can, and never regret anything you must do to get what you can.
Six days into the month, I’m already past the first missed target that someone else was supposed to be meeting, with zero information flow back to me about when that will be accomplished. It may not be their fault (because an insurance company is involved) but they’ve managed to bollix up things by miscommunication both with me and everyone else before, so I have learned not to have much expectation of competence from the support staff. (And I do not expect that I’d improve the results by starting over with a different provider vs. just becoming a pest until they do what they’ve promised.)
So far so good.
i have pneumonia and a friend died. f u world
@spacemart that sucks. Sorry.
@spacemart @unksol I hope you get better quickly!
And really sorry about your friend.
@spacemart I am sorry for your loss, hope you’re feeling better soon!
@spacemart get well soon and very sorry for the loss of your friend.
@spacemart thank you all very much. getting some energy back, and managed to get some work done today finally!
June? Where did March to May go?
@hchavers yep I agree!

@kjady
It’s much too early to tell. There is a faint possibility that this month could be very good indeed, or it could be much less than that.
I had a cat with a complete breakthrough at m volunteer shift at the shelter today. It was so heartwarming and surprising I’m still smiling about it
@DLPanther I have a Rescue 🛟 cat from a shelter. You can tell he truly Loves me, always wants to be near.
@DLPanther
@DLPanther @mycya4me love this!

Sometimes the cat adopts you.

I will note without additional comment that June 1st is the official start of the hurricane season.
I still have no idea where to get a hunting permit for them, though.
@werehatrack Don’t worry, you won’t have to hunt for them long; they’re good at finding people.

@Kidsandliz @phendrick I’d rather go the TNR route with 'em, really, but even Tractor Supply doesn’t have a trap big enough.
“Month is already
shothot.”I picked “It’s gonna be AMAZING!” but I couldn’t find the sarcasm toggle on the vote button.
@xobzoo I SO Agree!
/showme how’s this month is going so far
@mediocrebot looks like everything is going down the drain
@lonocat @mediocrebot
Or up in a tornado!
a bird

6 rainclouds
a clock
a window
Swirlies
@806D2701 That makes me think of this song:
How is “meh” not a poll option? I guess someone had too many margaritas last night?
@Weboh Or worse, they had mehgaritas.
@Weboh @yakkoTDI They made mehgaritas in a returned blender and then repacked it to go out in an IRK, perhaps?

@Weboh my total thoughts

@cbilyak Congratulations!
@cbilyak Good luck with the new job. Hopefully one with double the money and half the work.

/8ball Will the month of June 2024 rival April 2020 for suckage?
Cannot predict now
Tired of all the rainbows already
45 years ago, June started with a wimper, major june gloom. by the 5th, it was hot enough to cook eggs on the car (well maybe not but you get it)
how do i remember you ask. today my offspring turned 45, so easy to remember weather going in and weather coming out
*of the hospital, wash your minds out with soap
Every winter, I get depressed over another year ending and regretting having not lived enough.
Yet every summer, I am looking forward to getting to the age where I’m owed a living and don’t have to interact with society on a whole.
(I also feel conflicted about entirely abandoning a system that has both robbed me of much of my youth yet promises to sustain me in much of my age.)
@pakopako That system ate your life through the years when you were best equipped to enjoy it. Steal back everything you can, and never regret anything you must do to get what you can.
