Who would have thought woot would be the place to keep containers of mystery going strong? This has been so frequent that I’m not even disappointed anymore…that’s the sound of losing customer engagement…
@bfg9000 That’s actually the smarter way to do it. The IRKs are unlikely to sell out, so there is zero reason to fork over most of a C-note speculatively on the theory that you’ll find enough Mehrathon crap to whittle that down to a buck after the refund.
Most Important Thing To Know: ONLY the stuff you buy FROM THE MEHRATHON ITEM LISTINGS counts towards the refund.
And you cannot get more than one refund. No buying six IRKs, spending $588 on Mehrathon crap, and getting half a dozen IRKS for half a dozen bucks after refunds.
@bfg9000@werehatrack The SideDeal items (ARE ? / ARE NOT ?) part of the “Mehrathon Item Listings”? It was not clear to me.
The wording says “Mehrathon Event” and the SideDeal items are sure getting highlighted, as if they are definitely part of the “Event”, even though not being sold directly on the Meh.com page.
@ExtraMedium@phendrick@werehatrack i still get the Side-deal-o-rama image and link at the bottom of the current deal/home page instead of the Meh-rathon ICYMI until I reload the page (sometimes it takes 3-4 reloads), so definitely confusing.
I was thinking that same thing, the SD site has some pretty good stuff and I wish they could be included in the items that count towards the IRK refund! I’m also thinking SD purchases SHOULD BE part of the IRK refund since we had to go there to purchase the IRK in the first place!
Jus sayen… ¯\(ツ)/¯
@bfg9000@ExtraMedium@Kyeh@werehatrack@Lynnerizer I don’t think confused customers will make for happy customers on this one.
I bet Customer Service will be fielding a lot of questions over amounts of refunds on the IRK, concerning purchases that didn’t apply.
Also, the only list of eligible Mehrathon purchases that is linked to (the Forum) contains older Meh offerings and also SideDeal items that will not apply. Some Meh programmer should put a marker by those that DO apply (such as an Irk icon).
I might completely sit this one out, because I usually fill out on SD items. And too many of the current Mehrathon items are repeats of past items that I either have already bought or decided I didn’t want back then. And it is amounting to a lot of trouble to cull through to see which are actually applicable for the refund. So far, I don’t regret not having bought the current IRK. And even won’t, if it does sell out, which I doubt.
Hey Meh. Serious question for once. Deals from days ago are still available for purchase and have the mehrathon logo on their respective deal pages. Are you saying that they’re part of the deal, or what? Specifically talking about that power brick thing for $149 from a couple days ago
@ExtraMedium Want to weigh in on this? I’m of the opinion that the item’s listing continuation into the Mehrathon’s run does not make it a 'Thon item, but that screen cap sure muddies the waters rather a lot.
@thechinglish@werehatrack Purchases from previous days will not count toward the IRK. The banner and logo stuff are swapped as a site-wide change during the event, but only items internally marked as event items count toward the IRK refund and this isn’t on that list yet. I’m not saying it will be later, nor can I say it won’t be since I haven’t peeked at the list for this event, but if they’re sold during these 24 48 hours, that would be the only way it counts.
@ExtraMedium@werehatrack Also, the meh FAQ heavily implies the availability of only one item per day, but you’re leaving shit that didn’t sell out up for much longer than that these days. Make it make sense.
@ExtraMedium@FreePasta Now that you mention it, the only place where I see that “2 Day” is cited is on the Ink-For-IRK thread, and I think that’s a plea for the IFI deadline to be past the end of the 'Thon. That’s a separate issue.
My apologies if I wasn’t clear. If you make a purchase from an offer that started before 12 A.M. on 9/22 or starts after 12 A.M. on 9/24, it will not be counted toward the Meh-rathon IRK refund. Feel free to debate the phrasing on the site or be pedantic about my description, but it won’t change that the refund won’t happen if the product is purchased from an offer that existed outside of that window.
Also, I’m sorry about the 24 vs. 48-hour error. I’ve corrected that above. It’s one event that lasts 48 hours and as with all previous events, you can only get one IRK per event refunded. You’re welcome to pay $99 for a second if you want, but it’ll just be a $99 IRK with the contents pulled from the same random selection that has driven our past IRK construction guidelines. That is to say, you will regret it.
@thechinglish JFC, we get it. And frankly it doesn’t take a fucking genius to figure out what’s going on. Does someone spoonfeed you your pablum every morning?
@ExtraMedium I appreciate the explanation, clarification and measured responses. Sometimes I fuck up too. Must be nice to be perfect, I guess. To be clear, perfect seems like a genuine asshole, but what do I know?
Truly, I launched into a small rant a while back and got lectured to and preached at by a mob that acted like I’d just sexually violated each of their grandmothers. I’m not saying I altogether agree with you, but I’ve got a lot more respect for what you’re slinging than whatever bullshit they were up to.
Not that I actually give a fuck what most of them think (except for the one I consider a friend), but, goddamnit, don’t make me nostalgic for the good old bad old days, motherfuckers.
Not to mention that your response was solid, and I answered it in earnest, no satire intended.
@joelmw Aw, I love it when you show up and get into fights. Not that it brings back memories of the good old days, (our only fighting then was against nasty interlopers), but at least you spark a little bit of life out of what is left of this forum.
I blame Meh for the mess that the forum is in. If they had only had the balls to clamp down on an individual or two when it was needed, this place might still be fun. Now, it is pretty much the walking dead.
I really do miss you and a lot of the others. Take care of yourself, young man, and never apologize for doing the right thing.
$99 for trash in hopes of receiving another $50-100 worth of trash. That is an understatement. Tell me again how much am eye washing away every month. Cost of a Blu ray rental well okay than when it gets to the cost of a matinee showing eye will question my insanity.
Will all of the items from the first day still be available for purchase during the second day? My recollection from the last time was that the answer was . . . . eventually . . . . yes, but someone had to make a manual change to get the items from the first day available again. What’s the plan this time? Asking for a friend. . . .
So the list you have posted on the Meh-rathon that goes back weeks and weeks are not eligible for the IRK ? Where are the dates of release listed. Or to keep it simple, what was the first IRK eligible offering so I can move on from there ?
I’m sitting this SHITSHOW out!! I refuse to waste 48 hours desperately trying to find SOMETHING that I actually can justify buying yet, in reality, I’d still be filling up my home with more CRAP!! These IRKs used to be fun to try to get (just like BOCs), but given my last $49 IRK that I struggled to find enough to buy to get the refund. That entire SHITSHOW netted me absolutely zero worth of anything but only TRASH that I was stuck with until I had to throw it out! IRK NO MORE!!
@RICHY531 Yeah, I bought an air purifier for the $30.00 IRK last time and got a box of trash and an air purifier (that I purchased to get the refund on the IRK) that my wife does not like. Then I purchased the $17.76 IRK, which was pretty much the same except for some Barbie Pink acrylic paint that my Daughter-in-law fell in love with. I know some people scored some nice stuff but I am not rolling the dice again. I much prefer the old way but this seems to be working for MEH, so more power to them.
To get the $98 refund for the IRK, is meh being hard nosed about spending $98.00 or more on meh to get the full refund? So far, I’ve come up with purchases that total $97.98. Lots of stuff ending in .99. Maybe I’m just being shitfaced picky and should just live with a $97 refund instead of a $98 one. If there was something to eat like stroopwafels, I would have sprung for another item.
