I never joined Twitter, but I have joined Bluesky, just because I wanted to get my real name as a username before someone in Asia took it… I may never use it but I’m sick of my name always being taken before I get to use it as my username… lol… I know weird unused 8th Century Anglo-Saxon names are not normal in China so they’re just appropriating my name…
Actually, I was curious, so I used AI to help me, apparently there are two common Chinese names whose meanings compound to have the same meaning as my first name (in old English).
My theory is that they must google a translation for their name and it shows my name and that’s why they pick it… so if that’s what they’re doing, I guess that’s fair.

@f00l invite only, but I didn’t know anyone… I just tried to sign up and it told me there would be a wait… The wait was way less than a week though. I assume I’ll eventually be given invite codes to give people but it says I have zero.
@KNmeh7 Might give it another shot, then. Chances are good that your first one got bitbucketed when they were doing alpha testing of something. I haven’t tried to join something that’s in startup mode in a couple of decades, but Back In The Day, it was pretty common for early requests to silently vanish and get no response.
