@phendrick too much work…
mix up the quickrete beforepouring it in the bucket??
Just pour the dry mix in the bucket.
you’re literally about to throw the works into the drink anyway… just tie on to the handle, or one of the products fully submerged in the dry mix.
you’ll have to stay anchored in place for a while to let things set up… but much less muss/fuss.
@earlyre@phendrick I think you have this confused with pouring dry cement mix into a post hole around the post and letting the moisture from the soil set it over time.
Burying a slimy politician alive in dry concrete mix is similar as it gives them time to consider their life choices.
I’m usually not this dark but there is an alarming number of deserving people in office these days.
Gee Whiz-both of the above have what I was going to say. I made an anchor last year as per phendrick’s instructions, but I left out the Anker products since I was using them!
Anker products are made too cheap to serve as an anchor. Maybe if I encased on in concrete, but that is the concrete acting as the anchor, not the Anker.
@jsfs exactly! Daisy chain a few of today’s deal together and you could anchor, uhhh, something to uhhh, something else. Not that i have any experience in that, mind you.
Of course it’s possible to build an Anker anchor! It probably wouldn’t work very well and wouldn’t be very durable though, and nobody would try to use it more than once. That is, there would be no Anker anchor encore.
@phendrick That’s a really nice photo of that. I was there, many years ago (3 years after the Khmer Rouge finally surrendered), well before the big tourist crush. The scale of that temple complex is hard to appreciate from photos. It’s the biggest temple complex in the world, the temples are on the scale of the pyramids, and there are so many of them in the jungle. And the carving is everywhere. Angkor is the biggest temple in the area. While this shows what most people would consider a moat, it is actually part of an extensive water project from 1000+ years ago. The currently thinking is that a major, long term drought is what caused this area to be abandoned.
@KidsandlizLucky you to have seen much of the world when you had the opportunity. I always wanted to see many such places. Now I’m not sure I’ll even see all of Texas.
At least I saw much of the north east US and Canada with my parents when I was a lot younger.
@phendrick My kid is from there (adopted at nearly 10) and I have an ngo there. Haven’t been back in a long time as no money for airfare. Once I am there if I don’t mind “local” accommodations then it is dirt cheap. First world ones cost as much as they cost here.
Encased in cement, yes
Yes.
If this doesn’t hold your boat, repeat and scale up on everything.
@phendrick You forgot to use the chargers to bind the hands of the slimy politician who is standing in the cement. Also, no rope is necessary.

It greatly depends upon what you want to anchor.

No, and please stop anking our chains.
You mean like this?
Angkor Wat

@phendrick Angkor Wat?
@macromeh @phendrick Yes that is Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

anchor for what?
@cornchip Maybe for the news media since there seems to be objections to using as a boat anchor due to the need for adding cement?
Yes, if you’re using it on Barbie’s boat.
