That’s oddly ironic - is anybody else seeing the “M22” road sign on the front page next to this question?
Here it is larger in all its glory:
An ironic image for a trademark question… this sign has been ruled part of the public domain by the Michigan Attorney General.
And yet an asshole company in NW Michigan that trades in “M22” trinkets… on a sign image funded by the taxpayers of Michigan sues anybody who tries to sell t-shirts or bumper stickers using the M22 sign image.
The M-22 road goes through a scenic recreational area of NW Michigan and the image has become so popular that the road signs themselves keep getting stolen.
@RiotDemon@therealjrn the header image was not clear on the device on which I originally viewed the page.
But it still begs the question - this Michigan-centric M22 trademark issue is well enough known in Texas to be made the header image for a national audience Trademark issue?
(I realize there are more than a few Michigan transplants in Texas.)
@RiotDemon yep - just google-image searched the image. It is a photo from a story about the M22 trademark issue and that guy in the photo is one of the asshole-founders attempting to lock up what is a state-created and owned image for their own commercial interests.
So not completely random since it is a trademark story.
It’s tempting to start printing and selling - or even giving away M22 bumper stickers.
@RedOak also I think it’s very important to point out that they aren’t suing about other people using similar products with M22 on it. Where they might barely have a case. Maybe. But it’s not about knock offs.
Per you article that are suing because "The M22 company said the general store’s M-119 wine label was too much like its brand. " I.e. hoe dare another store on a different historic state road use the state highway sign that their store is on. That is on all State highways. For memoribial. It’s like someone trying to say we own route 66. And ever sign that looks like it but has a different number is ours too.
@unksol actually, that article (the image source) was only about a single lawsuit brought by them.
They’ve regularly sued others for making M22 stickers and tshirts.
And they also have their attorneys send threatening “cease and desist” letters… presumably many cases that don’t reach the courts due to the other party not being willing to spend lawyer money.
Scumbags leaching off the taxpayer owned sign… which would be fine if they didn’t also bully others from making money in the same way.

so ask me a question, but make it really hard to understand, ya know what i mean?
/youtube do you know what i mean?
I’m not sure I follow all of what you’re asking, but for the first question, yes. It’s trademarked by NPR.
@djslack story of my life
@djslack Except “trademark” is a noun, not a verb.
@craigthom I (& Skynet) respectfully disagree.

@djslack Dictionaries are descriptive, not prescriptive.
You can find “irregardless” in one, too. That doesn’t make it right.
@craigthom @djslack
I used to use irregardless all the time. Now I’ve switched to just irregard because that is more annoying to people that don’t like the first one.
Hey there @Yoda_Daenerys! LTNS! I see your back on a membership! Congratulations!

This thread has been flagged with a grammar-nazi trigger warning.
You don’t win a thread by asking a question of someone. You win a thread by making the other poor bastard ask the questions!!
Due the ladders of you’re eye den titty, when re deranged like Anna Graham’s, Macon knew letter collections?

@RedOak That’s the sign up there too, except there is a man standing in front of it.
@therealjrn So you’re seeing the M22 sign as well. Apparently not a Michigan Mehtizen thing.
@RedOak @therealjrn it’s the header topic photo. Look at the top of this page.
@RedOak @RiotDemon
I had a brain glitch and didn’t know what to call it–thanks!

@RedOak it’s random from Google. Don’t think Texas matters in the choosing of the photo.
Sometimes it makes absolutely no sense to me, so I change the photo by editing the topic before the five minutes up.
@RiotDemon so it is karma since M22 was a trademark issue!
@RedOak I meant random in a sense that the words in the title or OP get searched on Google and a random result is chosen.

@RedOak i’ve traveled that road before

@RedOak @Yoda_Daenerys Google says maybe you wanted this? ? Even if that’s totally wrong… I like it

@RedOak i either agree with you, or i think of it differently. that’s not a fiddy-fiddy split.
