Depends on the effect of gravity on the components of the lighting device when it is installed or set in various orientations. IMO if there are no pendant parts that would not remain in place if the device were turned upside down, then it is a lamp. If there are, then it is a chandelier.
I dunno. But if you try to light the inside of your camping tent with a chandelier, you are going to need a really long cord. Or lots of candles and a fire-proof tent. I think the whole tent/chandelier problem was why lamps were invented.

I’m pretty sure he’s a character on Friends.

A chandelier is an upside down candelabra.
@aetris Wait. Don’t candelabras require a piano? Those can’t possibly be regulation.
Besides which, if you turn a chandelier (or a candelabra) upside down, the candles will fall out.
I think this whole thread is dangling by a thread.
You only have to put a candelabra on a piano if you wish your brother George was there.

the light source that produced the mutated lamp came first.
A chandelier is a light fixture. A lamp is a lamp.
