Hey, can these things climb onto like half inch thick carpet and actually work still? I don’t want to get it stuck on just the living room or the kitchen. It has to work in both places. Or I will hate it.
I am looking for one for a while. I really don’t need it but want it, and don’t want to spend too much money on em. Any suggestions or input? At one point i was ready to spend $500 on 985 roomba from costco, but my wife persuaded me otherwise hehe
@bluetide I have a deebot I bought on sale for 170. It is great. If this deal was going on when I was looking, I would have totally jumped on this one instead of the deebot. This is cheap and the reviews look good. Also, it has the corner brush (not all have this). Hope this helps.
I wonder if we’ll ever get to the point that every Mehtizen who wants a roomba has a roomba. Apparently we’re not there yet, since five more of y’all just bought one…
@Xkeeper macho-paramount-library
So am I allowed to click the meh button but then recant and buy the thing? Should there be an asterisk next to my meh click count?
Ahhh, another day, another vacuum for sale here at Meh. It’s not just every shape, size, color of Roomba and its competitors’ models, it’s also the Sharks for when you just gotta do the job yourself! I already have five vacuums so I will sit this out. It’s like the odd situation in my town where there are mattress stores every block it seems. Not to mention furniture and Department store mattresses. Who buys all of these two things?
If I see one more post about this deal sucks I’m going to lose my mind. What little I have.
Look meh it’s been too many days without a response from the staff. I am determined and now my next mission is a Christmas list, sponsored by meh and presented by everyone who posts on my comment. Without further ado, I present the meh Christmas shopping list:
IRK Plushies, Mehgic 8 Ball (all responses some form of meh.), Squatty Potty (because we don’t have the fukubukuro anymore and our crap needs to go somewhere), AAA batteries, poop meh emoji pillows, and candy corn because it’s near Halloween duh.
The write-up’s right: a lot of the Roomba models are variations on a pretty limited theme. A couple of months ago, though, I got an amazing “early adopter” deal on the new e5 series, and I can say with conviction that it blows the brush roller models (800 and below, I think) out of the water. Cleaning the unit used to be the biggest pain in the neck, but it’s insanely easy now because of the tweaks they’ve made to the levers, bins and rollers.
I’m a Roomba hoarder. I’ve got models going back to the Discovery. But if you’re considering a new one, do yourself a favor and go with the 900 or the new e5 or i7, especially if you’ve got pets or anyone with long hair in your house. The 600 series models I use on other floors are still going strong, but I’m looking forward to the day when I can finally throw that round comb-type thing with the sharp teeth away.
@sparkle_motion Thanks for the info. I ended up making a sleep-deprived impulse buy because I wanted to see if a robot vacuum was right for me. We don’t have pets or very long hair, but I will keep in mind those aspects as we review the quality of the purchase and see if we want to consider upgrading down the line.
Is this “Factory” refurbished?
(never mind … with jc293’s link above I see that Woot clearly explains their “Factory Reconditioned” tag and Meh dismisses any similar definition. I’m guessing someone in the Meh warehouse is brushing off old, skanky returns and tossing them in a box for shipment.)
@lauravogel saw your post over on Mediocre and want to make sure you got the request to check in with support http://meh.com/support. Hopefully no more like this but if anything similar, please check in and we’ll take care of it.
@Seeds Mine has the same brush problem, and is missing a power cord. I can buy a replacement brush module for $15 since sending the whole thing back would be a hassle. I had an extra power cord that worked.
Mine arrived. It at least came with a battery btw. But here’s the issues:
(1) Charge base LED doesn’t stay illuminated, it’s very intermittent. Doesn’t necessarily mean the base is borked, but it could?
(2) Like above, the corner brush mounting screw seems way too short. That corner brush doesn’t seem secure.
(3) As per the manual, when docked it started charging as expected (Clean button pulsed amber). Went to sleep with it in that state (charge over night as directed by manual). Woke up, the “Clean” button wasn’t solid green (as per the manual). The roomba was COMPLETELY unresponsive.
OH, and another thing: This is a model that has a Clock and Schedule functions, right? I mean, those buttons are present on the roomba. When I follow the directions for setting the time (using the day/hour/minute) buttons, the directions seem to imply that there would be some sort of numeric digital readout FOR WHICH TO SET THE TIME. My roomba as delivered has no such display, so I’m wondering what function those buttons serve.
Meh shipped me an additional, new battery. The battery that arrived was actually one manufactured by iRobot. The first one that came with the Roomba was a third party substitute battery.
After installing the new battery and allowing to charge, the Roomba was able to successfully complete a vacuum cycle in the room I set it up in. There was one problem though: as I suspected would happen, the screw that holds the corner brush gave out after a short time and I found the corner brush on the floor while the roomba was off doing its thing. I’ll have to go to a hardware store and replace the screw.
Regarding the corner brush and the improperly small screw that was included for attaching the brush: a #4 3/8" pan head sheet metal screw worked fine as a replacement. You can get them at HomeDepot or wherever easily.
Regarding the lack of a digital numeric display for setting the time on my Roomba: still don’t have an answer. Any insight would be appreciated.
Mine also came with no battery. I called irobot support, they told me sorry, not their problem since it’s a refurb. Contact the place you purchased from…Oh meh.com? I need a battery!
This is the reply from iRobot regarding the missing battery:
Dear Jim,
Thank you for contacting iRobot. It appears the web site provided is not an authorized retailer or reseller by iRobot. When you purchase an iRobot product, you are making an investment in your home. Purchasing directly from iRobot, through our site, our call center, or through authorized resellers, is the only way to ensure the products you’re buying are worthy of your investment.
Please click the link below to view a list of our authorized retailers/resellers:
Received the device, front spinning edge brush threading is absolutely destroyed. The brush wasn’t even attached when I received it and wouldn’t screw in. Device makes a clicking noise when charging (looks to be a common issue with old depleted NI batteries that are junk.)
Really disappointed with this purchase and I’ve requested a refund. I’ve purchase a number of things from meh before and have been incredibly happy with the items received but this is in no way an acceptable standard of “reconditioned” device.
Just hooked mine up to charge and it’s making a high pitched hum and a rapid ticking noise. People online suggested a few tricks to solve it but none have worked so far.
@theQueenZ This is the issue with mine too. It works great, except no way to attach the side brush, and I don’t want to shell out another $60 to replace the module
FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO is download the manual from the iRobot support site! Mine came with a printed generic “600 Series” manual, and the 650 differs in significant ways from what is in there. In particular, the charging lights are NOT expected to stay on while charging with this model.
I also have the side brush problem, will try a larger screw. I suspect that’s why many of these were returned in the first place?
I ordered this Roomba on Oct. 19 and have not received it. What happened? I still need it and would very much like to have my ordered filled.

@siolregnaz check your order status at meh.com/orders if it’s shipped you should have a tracking number there. If you need more help you can contact support by hitting the “I need help with this.” button on that page or going to meh.com/support
A small plastic tab was broken off on the underside, which allowed the roller brush to fall out. Thankfully Meh.com sent me a return label. What a bummer.

Suck it up meh— clean sweep tonight
These actually make decent waffles.
No letting up on the sucking, huh, Meh?
I realized that my deebot I got in a fuko this summer is trapped under my couch earlier today. I really need to rescue “Bot”.
@tnhillbillygal No bots about it. Sounds like an opportunity to invent a Rescue Bot.
This deal sucks
@mdknudsen This deal manually sucks or can be scheduled to automatically suck 7 times per week.
FTFY
Hey, can these things climb onto like half inch thick carpet and actually work still? I don’t want to get it stuck on just the living room or the kitchen. It has to work in both places. Or I will hate it.
Meh, gone are the days of getting your D**K stuck in the vacuum cleaner
@Stallion Duck?
@shahnm @Stallion I’ve gotten my dirk stuck in the vacuum more times than I can count.
/image scottish dirk
@awk @Stallion Dork Dick did dunk his dank dirk in a dark duck.
Going back to Meh’s roots tonight, I see.

If you buy this, you need the outfits to go with.
Does this have the app or is it just the dumb version?
@capecodcaper
I’m glad I live in a time where a robot that vacuums for you can be considered dumb
I wonder if we’ll ever get to the point that every Mehtizen who wants a roomba has a roomba. Apparently we’re not there yet, since five more of y’all just bought one…
@shahnm I want one and have been hoping to get one in a Fuko someday. I’ve also been hoping I’ll win Mega Millions.
@shahnm First everyone had to have a fidget spinner… Now that everyone on earth has at least two of those, we are onward to vacuums collections…
@shahnm we are replacing aging fleet
Or what about a Roomba that just came with one completely functional human finger?
/image //www.pond5.com/stock-footage/77179427/humanoid-male-robot-giving-middle-finger.html
@phendrick
@tiranno Not at all creepy.
@tiranno I wonder if it has a vibration option?
@tiranno I should not have watched that before going to bed.
@tiranno A whole new outlook on “pull my finger”.
Can this one free itself from rug fringes?
I want one that understands it’s not gonna fit under the sofa or between the legs of the barstools. The Deebot I own should have come with a winch.
@hutchnow just tape a few popsicle sticks to the front of it
@outz It a split second, my reaction went from “Why the hell would I do that?” to “That’s fucking brilliant.”
I reversed field so fast, I threw my back out. I’m heading out to Walgreens for ibuprofen and superglue.
If you only read one Amazon review for these, make it this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1VJCO4TUKHNU7/
@Xkeeper Thank you for this ye purveyor of wisdom
@Xkeeper I am now considering retracting my Meh click and getting one just to see what it could do with cat vomit …
@Xkeeper My wife thought this review should have been the writeup for today’s sale.
@Xkeeper macho-paramount-library
So am I allowed to click the meh button but then recant and buy the thing? Should there be an asterisk next to my meh click count?
@stolicat - Go ahead and buy one - I won’t tell anyone about the clickface if you don’t.
@Xkeeper omg, that write-up review. Wow…
@Xkeeper I came to the board just to post this review… thank you for informing the world of this more quickly than I was able to.
Skynet continues to suck up my dreams of Pop sockets
Will it clean my son’s room?
Are these the ones other Mehites returned?

No speaker dock on top, so I’m out.
Speaker dock roomba
Tactical Roomba
Garden Roomba
What about Roomba Covers?
Does it have universal voltage or is its charger fixed at 110V?

Woot regularly has these refurbs on sale. The last instance was about a week ago for $180 - https://www.woot.com/offers/irobot-roomba-650-automatic-robotic-vacuum-28?utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=WootStalker&utm_campaign=CJ&cjevent=fae0c5f3d39b11e880cd01af0a240610
Interesting to note that the Woot offering is a 90 day warranty through iRobot, where the Meh offering this is through Mediocre.
I bought one, I hope it breaks on day 89 rather than day 91.
Too late Meh. I already bought one. Otherwise, I’d totally buy this.
