I got an early shipping date this time. Hopefully that’s a positive, auspicious sign. I don’t know if the pattern still holds, but in the past the better IRKs seemed to ship early… Or was it late … I’m doubting my optimism now. Scheduled delivery tomorrow… This is the quickest I’ve ever had one arrive.
Mine is scheduled to arrive today via FedEx… which means someone in my neighborhood will be receiving a damaged and probably wet box with my name and address on it within the next few weeks. The chances of FedEx finding my house, on the scheduled delivery date, with an intact package, are extremely slim. I have more confidence in Lasership and DHL than FedEx. Did you know that the FedEx logo actually features a hidden arrow pointing to the wrong house where your package was delivered? My last FedEx delivery was marked as delivered as the truck drove past my house without even slowing down. The “proof of delivery” photo was a closeup of the label on the box, too close to see anything in the background, obviously done to prevent showing that the package was actually not delivered. Can you tell I hate FedEx? How can a company whose sole purpose is to deliver things to clearly defined locations while being guided by GPS, be so incredibly incompetent at delivering those things?
@warpedrotors The guy delivering the parcels for FedEx Ground is not a FedEx employee. He works for a contractor that “owns the territory” where your address lies. FedEx didn’t invent this idiocy, they got it from RPS, the parcel disservice that they bought out and renamed to FedEx Ground.
@werehatrack I don’t particularly care for the reason for the idiocy. The fact is that FedEx allows it to occur in their name, over a period of many years. You’d think they’d try to change something. There are countless memes about how FedEx is worse than UPS and Amazon. All I know is a FedEx truck shows up, with a person dressed in a FedEx uniform, carrying a damaged package that’s 3 weeks late, and then punts it into the neighbor’s yard and marks it delivered.
P.S. my package that’s due by the end of today is still showing in the same city in Missouri where it was at 1:10pm.
@warpedrotors The more-fun part is when it briefly shows delivered, and then changes to exception, and then shows up a little later as if nothing had happened. I have no idea how their system is designed other than “not well”.
The only competition for “worst” used to be from Amazon’s own delivery system, but that one mostly works correctly now. (And I try to avoid using it.)

You’ve described EXACTLY what has been happening to me every time i had a FedEx package due, including the blurry, close up photo they call “proof of delivery.” They’ve improved slightly since i spent almost $60 to post a highly reflective, weather-proof, neon sign at the end of my driveway with my house number on it. I did everything but light my house up like it’s on the Vegas strip! They really are vile. Never had nearly as many issues with any other carrier.
The other day a home depot order showed on the truck for delivery, then delayed, then on the truck the same day. Then the next morning on the truck again. That was weird. Lots of texts but it always shows up at the right spot at least so I’m ok with it.
I’d be ok if you could select batched delivery at the carrier level… I’m not usually in a rush/I feel a little bad when I’m getting a package every day in the middle of nowhere. You could just make one trip dude I’ll wait
@unksol I feel the same way, the fewer boxes, the better! I think they breed when I’m not looking… They’re worse than rabbits… AND cats! Even when i select the shipping day option on the Bezos Express, they’ll send them in multiple boxes, i presume because they’re coming from different warehouses. Ugh.

A substitute driver pulled in once in a full UPS truck. Then tried to do a u-turn in my yard. Which. Totally inappropriate to drive through someones yard but. My yards shit. They were now having a very bad day so. I just let that go.
Problem was they steered into the steepest/mudiest/worst part of the hill. Off the driveway. Instead of backing out. Trying to get out before I heard then.
If they’d asked we could have blocked traffic/backed them out. Instead we spent an hour or two trying to get them unstuck because they didn’t want to call their boss. With everything we had available.
None of which worked, still had to call and get towed out. Didn’t do my drive any favors either but. Meh.
I don’t usually care that much when it shows up. Most of the time. I’d be fine if UPS let me say keep them on a shelf for a week and then just do it all. That may mess up their logistics in other ways but. I don’t want to be a pain. I def ordered my 200lb tiller to home Depot instead of ordering 5 of them to the house…

The craft paint will go to a different teacher.
The faucet is not terribly useful without the control box, so that’s probably zero value.
That means the only thing truly useful here is the IRK bag.

Even though there was still IRK’s available at the end of the Mehrathon, I resisted the temptation to buy $ 30 worth of shit I really didn’t need. Given what people have gotten so far, my forbearance paid off.
Probably the end of my buying crap just to get an IRK. It was difficult but I did it.
@Felton10 I did buy one item in the Mehrathon, but I couldn’t find a second item that took me to $30 that would make me consider spending $38 on an IRK. Based on what people are reporting, I made an excellent decision!

I had given up on trying to get IRKs because the two or three I have gotten over the years weren’t worth the effort. Since I was going to buy something that cost over $30 in the most recent Mehrathon I decided to splurge the $8. It looks like I’m going to regret it.

I do like the new system of “You were spending money anyway, here’s a cheapo/ freebie”. It feels more inclusive. I don’t know how some people managed multiple IRKs before but it definitely was hard if your wifi was slow.

As I am sitting here working I see the FedEx truck pull up. The anticipation builds as I see the driver jump out of the truck with a larger than normal box! It’s not the usual small cube, this is a large rectangle that @Charliedoggo can lay down inside. Oh my, whatsoever did they send!
My excitement is dashed as I see the driver hoist the box on their shoulder and run at a full clip from their truck to the porch, gently setting the box on its side and retreating. He was moving too fast, that box is not heavy enough. My hopes are dashed.
As I run outside to grab the box my Head of Security, @charliedoggo and his deputized assistant, Uncle Buddy stand at the ready. They are at the door barking warnings to the driver to stay away…or maybe to bring PB treats. I can’t really be sure…Oh well. Likely it was the later, they do enjoy a good PB treat!
Anyway, after picking it up I realize the box has some heft to it. Maybe it is a good one!!! It is now Schrödinger’s Irk!!!
Upon entering the house, I set it down in my home office, balanced precariously on a small task chair allowing the security team to thoroughly inspect the box before I open to reveal its contents.
When I am given the “all clear”, I grab my scissors and break in. My god, the bounty before me!
@warpedrotors@werehatrack also, no profit. Most of what I get I save throughout the year and use as little prizes for games with the family on Christmas or New Years. If I receive something completely off the wall then I will donate or trash depending on what it is/its condition.

The kids, or my wife typically score better from the IRKs than I do. It’s pretty rare I keep an item that arrives that’s any good because someone else wants it more.
Even the prize pillow in my irk today is going to the wife (despite me needing a new one) because she has made comments in the past about wanting a new one… and tomorrow is our anniversary, so I can’t claim the new pillow and remain in good standing.
As for what I do, I buy loads of cheap gift bags from the dollar store and put all these various items in the gift bags. I pretty much fill my dining room table. Then I make word games, puzzles, I have bingo, etc. Winner of each game gets to pick a bag! It keeps everyone busy for a few hours and lots of fun is had. Gifts are swapped, stolen, and sometimes no one wants them
Ill finish my reveal tomorrow. Long night with my niece and now Im in bed!

My kitties would be jealous if they weren’t still enjoying the very fine box my new mattress came in (don’t tell them that bulk trash pick up is next week and the box will disappear on Sunday). My kitties would say that they probably didn’t give the box a very good catscan, but I’m sure their inspection was just a thorough.

I save stuff from meh irks all year long and my family has kinda a white elephants with it. It fun. Sometimes I wrap good stuff, sometime it’s dumb stuff but either way it gets it out of my house. It also all depends on what I get. I also wrap them about a month in advance so I never remember what’s in them. I got the idea from another mehtizin and this will be my 3rd or 4th year doing this with my family.
So GODS OF MEH WAREHOUSE!!! I would still love that new nice pot and pan set or a pallet of somethings cool (not broken tvs) in my driveway. I really need neat, funny interesting things that can used as Xmas gifts.

Also the oil diffuser is an item of value to one member of the family. This marks the second or third oil diffuser my daughter has received from me from IRKs/BOC. She has two already… I know one came from an IRK or a BOC several years ago, not sure if the other did too. She will consider this a win… I think. I didn’t open it, assume it’s in one piece.

Just drop off your stuff at UPS with the pirate ship label (so you need to know the weight or make two trips to UPS - one to find the weight and one to drop off the package) and you are good to go.

@Dakini@Kyeh We’re at 20-some-odd spayings in the last decade, between fosters and residents, and we gave up on the cones post-spaying long ago with zero repercussions. The only time we’ve coned a cat was when Spot compulsively overgroomed herself to the point of having bare spots on her forelegs and chest.
@Kyeh@werehatrack right, I tried taking it off last night and she started grooming herself, areas she couldn’t get to for the last 10 days…but then she moved to her belly and before I knew it she had two red raw spots from licking. I decided to put it back on. They said 10-14 days, she doesn’t HATE the suit, although she got pretty pissed at me when I put it back on. Even overshot her littlerbox…I could swear it was in spite as she never does that, but can’t be sure.

@Dakini@lonocat At this point, I am half willing to volunteer to haul the remaining stock of those car chargers and TrackRs to an e-waste site for disposal. (The Casery stuff is just hopeless; it’s packing material at best.) But then they’d be short of IRK Things with which to plump the dump, so we’re undoubtedly going to see more of them in the future.
I really hope that when the last TrackR goes into an IRK, they shoot a short video capturing the blessed event, and then have it end just before we could see the address or name on the shipping label. That would be a cause for Great Celebration.

I personally dislike the hands-free feature - a friend of mine had it and I was excited to try it but found it disappointing. So even without it I’d consider it a win.

@jeepgrl note the trackers are known to arrive with dead batteries if you’re harvesting. I’d check them with a multimeter. They also have some sort of lifetime battery thing though. I couldn’t find any takers. I thought about getting all the cats collars for a minute but they didn’t send me enough and I don’t think they’d like it anyway

But I kinda already know, they have never had collars since they are indoor kitties and at least three would not let me. I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with the case of craft paint. My twelve-year-old niece has been focusing on painting in her summer art program, but that’s an awful lot of red. She has a dark sense of humor, though, so maybe she’ll come up with a blood-themed project.
The Casery stuff…exists.

@medonsw My local grocery store was frequently out of cheetos during the pandemic, so now I always have multiple bags in the house because I can’t go through that trauma again.
So does anyone know what to do with these pixels? I got a dozen of them and I have a drawer full already. The iOS app is dead and I don’t have any android devices.
@bxm83 I was able to download the Trackr app via APKPure but you have to register to use it, which is (of course) impossible due to their servers being now defunct.
SwiftFinder is listed in the Apple Store and says it works with iPhone, iOS 11.0 or later. Can’t verify since I don’t have an iPhone but store says app version is 4 months old.

@werehatrack shout out for the app referral it works for the THIRTY TRACKR PIXELS I received. Extra meh touch ALL THE F@_&$_CKING BATTERIES ARE DEAD in the trackRs so if I actually want to use them, I have to buy new batteries. Mostly the same as others. The ecru bag, et cetera; my case of paint is French Teal Chalky paint . The best thing is the Sleep Restoration gusset pillow…it’s soft, very cool, and very comfortable!!! Since I was able to spend exactly $30 on Meh, it’s free!!!

I can’t believe anyone would pay that much for that purse but hey. Had the misfortune of buying 10 TrackRs for under @$1 from meh 4 years ago. It turned out to be a blessing because I downloaded the app to my iPad mini. With those 10 and these 12, I have 22 solutions looking for a problem and a working app. Lots of app features now disabled like crowd find and history but the activate and find function still works. Even the batteries are fully charged. So that’s a win.
Will keep the diffuser to use up the peppermint essential oils I used around the kitchen to keep the rats at bay. Rats no longer a problem because traps worked better hence the extra oil.
Will keep one pack of car chargers for my two cars and donate the rest as well as the phone screen protectors.

I got an early shipping date this time. Hopefully that’s a positive, auspicious sign. I don’t know if the pattern still holds, but in the past the better IRKs seemed to ship early… Or was it late … I’m doubting my optimism now. Scheduled delivery tomorrow… This is the quickest I’ve ever had one arrive.
Mine is scheduled to arrive today via FedEx… which means someone in my neighborhood will be receiving a damaged and probably wet box with my name and address on it within the next few weeks. The chances of FedEx finding my house, on the scheduled delivery date, with an intact package, are extremely slim. I have more confidence in Lasership and DHL than FedEx. Did you know that the FedEx logo actually features a hidden arrow pointing to the wrong house where your package was delivered? My last FedEx delivery was marked as delivered as the truck drove past my house without even slowing down. The “proof of delivery” photo was a closeup of the label on the box, too close to see anything in the background, obviously done to prevent showing that the package was actually not delivered. Can you tell I hate FedEx? How can a company whose sole purpose is to deliver things to clearly defined locations while being guided by GPS, be so incredibly incompetent at delivering those things?
@warpedrotors The guy delivering the parcels for FedEx Ground is not a FedEx employee. He works for a contractor that “owns the territory” where your address lies. FedEx didn’t invent this idiocy, they got it from RPS, the parcel disservice that they bought out and renamed to FedEx Ground.
@werehatrack I don’t particularly care for the reason for the idiocy. The fact is that FedEx allows it to occur in their name, over a period of many years. You’d think they’d try to change something. There are countless memes about how FedEx is worse than UPS and Amazon. All I know is a FedEx truck shows up, with a person dressed in a FedEx uniform, carrying a damaged package that’s 3 weeks late, and then punts it into the neighbor’s yard and marks it delivered.
P.S. my package that’s due by the end of today is still showing in the same city in Missouri where it was at 1:10pm.
@warpedrotors The more-fun part is when it briefly shows delivered, and then changes to exception, and then shows up a little later as if nothing had happened. I have no idea how their system is designed other than “not well”.
The only competition for “worst” used to be from Amazon’s own delivery system, but that one mostly works correctly now. (And I try to avoid using it.)

@warpedrotors You have crystallized my thoughts eloquently! You’ve described EXACTLY what has been happening to me every time i had a FedEx package due, including the blurry, close up photo they call “proof of delivery.”
They’ve improved slightly since i spent almost $60 to post a highly reflective, weather-proof, neon sign at the end of my driveway with my house number on it. I did everything but light my house up like it’s on the Vegas strip! 
They really are vile. Never had nearly as many issues with any other carrier.

The other day a home depot order showed on the truck for delivery, then delayed, then on the truck the same day. Then the next morning on the truck again. That was weird. Lots of texts but it always shows up at the right spot at least so I’m ok with it.
I’d be ok if you could select batched delivery at the carrier level… I’m not usually in a rush/I feel a little bad when I’m getting a package every day in the middle of nowhere. You could just make one trip dude I’ll wait

Granted I’m only a mile off a state highway. Just a not highly populated one. And my driveway is short, but steap gravel. With a drop off.
not usually driveable for them although you can back down it with a delivery truck if you’re good. A back out or turn around is not an option. Better to drive the block, carry it, drive out.
A substitute driver pulled in once in a full UPS truck. Then tried to do a u-turn in my yard. Which. Totally inappropriate to drive through someones yard but. My yards shit. They were now having a very bad day so. I just let that go.
Problem was they steered into the steepest/mudiest/worst part of the hill. Off the driveway. Instead of backing out. Trying to get out before I heard then.
If they’d asked we could have blocked traffic/backed them out. Instead we spent an hour or two trying to get them unstuck because they didn’t want to call their boss. With everything we had available.
None of which worked, still had to call and get towed out. Didn’t do my drive any favors either but. Meh.
I don’t usually care that much when it shows up. Most of the time. I’d be fine if UPS let me say keep them on a shelf for a week and then just do it all. That may mess up their logistics in other ways but. I don’t want to be a pain. I def ordered my 200lb tiller to home Depot instead of ordering 5 of them to the house…

The solar lights might be interesting to somebody I know, but they really are too small to be more than a truly insignificant decoration.
USB chargers with a one-amp output (total) were hot stuff in 1998. Not so much today.
I know no one who has AirPods.
I know no one who wants to trash their ability to use wireless charging on their phone.
The craft paint will go to a different teacher.
The faucet is not terribly useful without the control box, so that’s probably zero value.
That means the only thing truly useful here is the IRK bag.

@tinamarie1974 Erm. I opened the thread because the box was reportedly on the porch here, and then I got hijacked before I could open it. It was a while later when I came back that far in the interrupt stack before I got around to adding the description of the extremely mediocre contents.

Even though there was still IRK’s available at the end of the Mehrathon, I resisted the temptation to buy $ 30 worth of shit I really didn’t need. Given what people have gotten so far, my forbearance paid off.
Probably the end of my buying crap just to get an IRK. It was difficult but I did it.

My first IRK and only got it because I was getting Mehrathon stuff anyway.
Received mine today.
It included:

4 bottles of hand sanitizer (expired in July)

Do I regret this? Only a little. The mug warmer, the tea, the bag, and the kitchen utensils will all get used. My teens already claimed the phone grips.
I’ll probably donate the paint and hand sanitizer to a school or community center. And donate the rest to goodwill. Not bad for $8.

I do like the new system of “You were spending money anyway, here’s a cheapo/ freebie”. It feels more inclusive. I don’t know how some people managed multiple IRKs before but it definitely was hard if your wifi was slow.

As I am sitting here working I see the FedEx truck pull up. The anticipation builds as I see the driver jump out of the truck with a larger than normal box! It’s not the usual small cube, this is a large rectangle that @Charliedoggo can lay down inside. Oh my, whatsoever did they send!
My excitement is dashed as I see the driver hoist the box on their shoulder and run at a full clip from their truck to the porch, gently setting the box on its side and retreating. He was moving too fast, that box is not heavy enough. My hopes are dashed.
As I run outside to grab the box my Head of Security, @charliedoggo and his deputized assistant, Uncle Buddy stand at the ready. They are at the door barking warnings to the driver to stay away…or maybe to bring PB treats. I can’t really be sure…Oh well. Likely it was the later, they do enjoy a good PB treat!
Anyway, after picking it up I realize the box has some heft to it. Maybe it is a good one!!! It is now Schrödinger’s Irk!!!
Upon entering the house, I set it down in my home office, balanced precariously on a small task chair allowing the security team to thoroughly inspect the box before I open to reveal its contents.
When I am given the “all clear”, I grab my scissors and break in. My god, the bounty before me!

The kids, or my wife typically score better from the IRKs than I do. It’s pretty rare I keep an item that arrives that’s any good because someone else wants it more.
Even the prize pillow in my irk today is going to the wife (despite me needing a new one) because she has made comments in the past about wanting a new one… and tomorrow is our anniversary, so I can’t claim the new pillow and remain in good standing.

As for what I do, I buy loads of cheap gift bags from the dollar store and put all these various items in the gift bags. I pretty much fill my dining room table. Then I make word games, puzzles, I have bingo, etc. Winner of each game gets to pick a bag! It keeps everyone busy for a few hours and lots of fun is had. Gifts are swapped, stolen, and sometimes no one wants them

Funny thing. My dad saw all the trackers and wanted to know what they were. After explaining he got all excited and asked if he could have them. Tried to explain and he wouldn’t listen so I said take em! Bout an hour later he asked why he couldn’t find the app. I explained again and he was so dissapointed

I save stuff from meh irks all year long and my family has kinda a white elephants with it. It fun. Sometimes I wrap good stuff, sometime it’s dumb stuff but either way it gets it out of my house. It also all depends on what I get. I also wrap them about a month in advance so I never remember what’s in them. I got the idea from another mehtizin and this will be my 3rd or 4th year doing this with my family.
So GODS OF MEH WAREHOUSE!!! I would still love that new nice pot and pan set or a pallet of somethings cool (not broken tvs) in my driveway. I really need neat, funny interesting things that can used as Xmas gifts.

Also the oil diffuser is an item of value to one member of the family. This marks the second or third oil diffuser my daughter has received from me from IRKs/BOC. She has two already… I know one came from an IRK or a BOC several years ago, not sure if the other did too. She will consider this a win… I think. I didn’t open it, assume it’s in one piece.

Just drop off your stuff at UPS with the pirate ship label (so you need to know the weight or make two trips to UPS - one to find the weight and one to drop off the package) and you are good to go.

The only time we’ve coned a cat was when Spot compulsively overgroomed herself to the point of having bare spots on her forelegs and chest.

Even overshot her littlerbox…I could swear it was in spite as she never does that, but can’t be sure.

@Dakini @lonocat At this point, I am half willing to volunteer to haul the remaining stock of those car chargers and TrackRs to an e-waste site for disposal. (The Casery stuff is just hopeless; it’s packing material at best.) But then they’d be short of IRK Things with which to plump the dump, so we’re undoubtedly going to see more of them in the future.
I really hope that when the last TrackR goes into an IRK, they shoot a short video capturing the blessed event, and then have it end just before we could see the address or name on the shipping label. That would be a cause for Great Celebration.

@jeepgrl note the trackers are known to arrive with dead batteries if you’re harvesting. I’d check them with a multimeter. They also have some sort of lifetime battery thing though. I couldn’t find any takers. I thought about getting all the cats collars for a minute but they didn’t send me enough and I don’t think they’d like it anyway

I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with the case of craft paint. My twelve-year-old niece has been focusing on painting in her summer art program, but that’s an awful lot of red. She has a dark sense of humor, though, so maybe she’ll come up with a blood-themed project.

@medonsw My local grocery store was frequently out of cheetos during the pandemic, so now I always have multiple bags in the house because I can’t go through that trauma again.
So does anyone know what to do with these pixels? I got a dozen of them and I have a drawer full already. The iOS app is dead and I don’t have any android devices.
@bxm83 I was able to download the Trackr app via APKPure but you have to register to use it, which is (of course) impossible due to their servers being now defunct.

@werehatrack shout out for the app referral it works for the THIRTY TRACKR PIXELS I received. Extra meh touch ALL THE F@_&$_CKING BATTERIES ARE DEAD in the trackRs so if I actually want to use them, I have to buy new batteries

I can’t believe anyone would pay that much for that purse but hey. At least it is a starting price point to anchor someone high on price when going to sell it (I plan to sell mine too hopefully getting at least a tank of gas out of it). At least it seems well made.

Had the misfortune of buying 10 TrackRs for under @$1 from meh 4 years ago. It turned out to be a blessing because I downloaded the app to my iPad mini. With those 10 and these 12, I have 22 solutions looking for a problem and a working app. Lots of app features now disabled like crowd find and history but the activate and find function still works. Even the batteries are fully charged. So that’s a win.
Will keep the diffuser to use up the peppermint essential oils I used around the kitchen to keep the rats at bay. Rats no longer a problem because traps worked better hence the extra oil.
Will keep one pack of car chargers for my two cars and donate the rest as well as the phone screen protectors.
Thanks meh. Happy with this haul. Except it was actually just over $18: $8 for the IRK, $8.99 shipping, $1.40 tax. Still happy, especially with 12 more TrackRs that work.
