@shahnm This is going to be very tough to keep in my refrigerator.
If I buy this, it will be something that stays attached to my phone, as that is how it is designed to be used.
If I take the phone out of the refrigerator during the day, then the battery will only be refrigerated for seven or eight hours per day.
But if I instead leave it in the refrigerator, then I will need to completely empty my fridge, shelves and all, so I can fit in when I want to use the phone. So far, so good.
I will need to set up some sort of open-loop breathing system to bring in fresh air without letting the cooled air out. Means drilling the walls of the fridge, some hosing, a mask of some sort, a fan, and an alarm if the fan stops. A hassle, but I can do all that.
One more problem will need to be addressed - my refrigerator, like most home refrigerators, is a metal box. No radio waves will penetrate the fridge at all! So I’ll need to get a cell booster that has a wired antenna, and run that into the fridge to get signal in the refrigerator.
OK, that is a lot of work, and a noticeable amount of money. Maybe I don’t need this after all. Or do you think it will be OK to not keep it in my refrigerator?
@cengland0 What you rocking? I’ve got a OnePlus 3 and it is everything I need right now. It’s a shame the company is an asshole, but I am 8 months from having it two years and it looks like I wont need to upgrade for another 1.5 years at least.
@grimblegromble I’m using the 64GB Samsung Note 8 with an extra 256 GB Samsung U3 Micro SD Card in the tray. If only Apple would allow Micro SD Cards but nope, they want to charge a lot more for a little bit of storage space.
@ThatsHeadly I have an iPhone 5 that I use to make reservations at my gym. I’m typing this on an iPad Pro 12.9”. But my main phone is an Android and I definitely like Android better. I would call myself an Android fanboy.
@cengland0 IOS 11 update killed a couple of my favorite apps and is generally getting on my nerves. I have been looking at switching to Republic Wireless. Anyone have experience with them and the phones available?
@ponagathos I only know Republic Wireless’ original service that was 3G for $25 flat including everything and still have one line with them, now on WiFi only. If you have a compatible phone and want to save money (but don’t forget to bolt after the first year), try the 1 year free Sprint offer… https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/offers/free-unlimited.html?ECID=vanity:1yearfree
@rmeden rockin an OP5 from an OPO. I feel ya, Grimble. After buying the OP5, I was thinking, is this really worth $500 over my OPO? Not really, but meh.
I haven’t found any reviews on this specific product, but the few Amazon reviews on the AIRPOWER 15 version are frightening. Too bad. I have two 6s phones that could maybe use this.
@Odysseus1001 I found four reviews at Amazon. Two of the four reviews say it does not fit the iPhone 7 - I’m guessing it was mistakenly being sold for the iPhone 7 at some point.
My iPhone 6 is pitiful; it can’t answer the phone half the time. It’s ringing and ringing and I’m banging away on the screen swiping this way and that and it’s just laughing at me. I’m just waiting for it to die so I can replace it with Android.
@uwacn My 6s plus got so bad, it was shutting down every half hour. I took it to the local Best Buy for the $29 Apple battery replacement program (no Apple Store here, but BB is an authorized Apple repair place.) Turns out Apple is so far behind with the batteries, they’re replacing the entire phone. (Same model, just new). If you’re having issues, might be worth it to book a repair on the Apple support page.
@uwacn my iPhone7 decided to stop ringing completely even with volume used all the way up and made sure the lock wasn’t on and the sound quality in calls were so bad, I had to put it on speaker just so I could hear the caller.
That along with no 3.5mm in the iPhone X convinced me to switch to Galaxy 8 after using iPhone since iPhone 2
@Mescolito yep, this happened to me too. Went into the Apple store to run diagnostics, they put the battery on order. Two weeks later I got notice that my replacement part was ready but they just gave me another phone for $29.
What would happen if casemate kickstarters used a $10 coupon code today? Would we lose the $1 that is left over or would we get a credit of $1. Would one of our coupons be left with a $1 balance? Just curious for future purchases because I’m not interested in today’s offering but I can see a potential of this happening again with something I might want.
@dave Thanks. That’s what I figured but I was hopeful that I wouldn’t lose the extra dollar. Don’t worry though, I’ll always find something to use it on. I did buy some items for $22 the other day (twice) and forgot to use my coupon. I’ll probably do that a couple more times before I remember.
you seriously want a case that can charge your phone consider buying a Morphie Case you get a sturdy case and the battery pack in the case can charge your phone from 2% to around 90% if you’ve charged the case completely.
Only $30 on eBay & Consider getting the dock too so Yip just put the phone in the cradle instead of looking for your cords.
But be forewarned, With the Morohie Case you’ll be switching to Micro-USB foryiyr charging cables instead of iPhone cords.
@rprussell I’m pretty sure that’s how the battery connects to the phone. When not connected like when you’re connecting to iTunes, the battery appears to have a slot for storage of that piece.
@rprussell I think the storage hole is also the port for charging the case. If at the end of the day you want to charge both the phone and the case, there is no place to store the unique Pogo pin to Lightning adapter.
If I were to buy this, I would glue a leash to connect the adapter to the case. Just a few inches of string would give me months of use before a glue joint broke and I permanently lost the adapter.
@Sardinicus Sure it does. The physical size of the 6 Plus permits a larger physical battery. Same deal with the internal batteries. The 6 has a 1810mah battery while the 6 Plus has a 2900mah battery. This is common with most electronics which offer large and small sizes of the same products. From smart watches to smart phones.
@ruouttaurmind Yeah, I take it back. I misread the write-up to mean that this was one case that could be used on both the 6 and 6 Plus (in which case having two different capacity specs would be odd).
In a world of endless cheap power banks, why would you commit this bulk to your phone for 2000mAh? Why not just get a power bank? A keychain power bank is 1400mAh larger at 3400mAh. Also, why not just get a real phone that doesn’t require a daily power bank?
@Kidsandliz I’ve been warning of something like this. I suspected giphy would be first to become self aware, but sure, why not the clicky face eating anomaly?
It’s ok, I’m very close to entering the singularity. This just gives me purpose. To do battle with the evil forces of giphy and the anomaly.
@narfcake This is true I suppose. I’ve been trapped at home this week which tends to make me forget places like Five Below exist. Anyway, the order’s made and I don’t really regret it so everything’s fine.
@capitalist Mine works… but it only charges as long as the phone is awake. If it falls asleep, I have to disconnect and reconnect in order to get it to charge again
@capitalist@iphegenia Did you ever figure out a solution to this? My 6 plus charges fine with the screen of but the gf’s non-plus stops when the screen goes off.
@capitalist@toddlamp After I managed to get the whole thing fully charged the first time, it seemed to sort itself out. I pretty much just charge the phone now, and the case hangs out waiting for an emergency. When I’ve had to charge the case, this problem hasn’t recurred.
You are all luckier than I as mine hasn’t been delivered yet. In fact FedEx originally said it would be delivered this past Friday and now the tracking just says “Scheduled delivery: Pending”
Mine arrived yesterday. Love the feel of it, doesn’t make the phone feel any bulkier than my old case. However, if if falls asleep, it stops charging. Have to disconnect and reconnect to make it start again. Super weird to have the battery plugged into the wall and the case plugged into the battery and wake up this morning with 10% battery…
Last week I sent message that my cases didn’t fit my iphone6’s and asked whether you had the proper cases for iphone6’s or how did I arrange for a refund. I haven’t had any reponse yet and was wondering when I could expect a response.
@statts I’ve been replying to your messages in CS and you’re not seeing those. Check your spam, please and include the order number for those cases in your response to the CS email. Thanks!

PSA: It’s a battery in a case. That does not mean it shouldn’t be stored in a refrigerator. Be smart, people.

@bdb Bluetooth.
@shahnm bluetooth is radio frequency, so it won’t work. Keep on thinking though!
@bdb
/giphy conundrum
Huh
So why would I want 6 ‘Plus battery cases’ with my $9 iPhone6?
Is the iPhone6 in this offer a refurb?
@mike808 I do hope this question is a Joke and you don’t really think they’re selling iPhine 6s for $9
Really have not had a problem with my 6s but it’s in a Magpul case which is the awesome and doesn’t need replacing.
I’m not an Apple Fanboy, so no!
@cengland0 What you rocking? I’ve got a OnePlus 3 and it is everything I need right now. It’s a shame the company is an asshole, but I am 8 months from having it two years and it looks like I wont need to upgrade for another 1.5 years at least.

@cengland0 you have to be a fanboy to use an iPhone? Does that make you an android fanboy?
@ThatsHeadly Androids don’t have fanboys (fanbois). They have thoughtful, intelligent users who made an informed choice.
@ThatsHeadly I have an iPhone 5 that I use to make reservations at my gym. I’m typing this on an iPad Pro 12.9”. But my main phone is an Android and I definitely like Android better. I would call myself an Android fanboy.
@shahnm Truth
@grimblegromble my OnePlus ONE still rocks!
@cengland0 That makes me a little jealous. OP didn’t think they needed an sd for the phone that year.
@cengland0 IOS 11 update killed a couple of my favorite apps and is generally getting on my nerves. I have been looking at switching to Republic Wireless. Anyone have experience with them and the phones available?

@datruandi Thanks. Already using Sprint though.
@rmeden rockin an OP5 from an OPO. I feel ya, Grimble. After buying the OP5, I was thinking, is this really worth $500 over my OPO? Not really, but meh.
Not impressed
A battery the same size as the phone but can only get the phone charged up to 60%-75%.
I haven’t found any reviews on this specific product, but the few Amazon reviews on the AIRPOWER 15 version are frightening. Too bad. I have two 6s phones that could maybe use this.

@Odysseus1001 Can you post a link to the Amazon with the reviews that scared you?
Hmmm no solar panels on the space station… can’t be real.
The cabin on the docked ship looks like it’s from Space 1999… I wonder if that’s where the station image is from.
Cmdr Koenig died a few years ago… can’t ask.
It is from Space 1999. It is called “Space Dock” and was used to launch interplanetary missions before the moon left earth orbit.
You can even see an “Eagle” spacecraft in the image, partially occluded by a truss.
I saw the twitter notification and thought you were selling an iPhone 6 for $9, and throwing in half a dozen “plus cases”. I feel misled and betrayed.
/giphy betrayed
Will these batteries slow down your iPhones too?
No thanks. I prefer Androids.
@JT954 Das right - upgrade to Galaxy y’all!
Apple has enough problems with batteries and old phones already. No need to make them even worse.
My iPhone 6 is pitiful; it can’t answer the phone half the time. It’s ringing and ringing and I’m banging away on the screen swiping this way and that and it’s just laughing at me. I’m just waiting for it to die so I can replace it with Android.
@uwacn Sounds like it’s dead…
@uwacn My 6s plus got so bad, it was shutting down every half hour. @cengland0 I feel strongly that the remaining $1 should regenerate to the full $10 by the next day, because that’s just the right thing to do, Meh.
@cengland0 Assuming the user is VMP you’d lose the buck. A coupon is used or not used, the value doesn’t change.
@shahnm That’s some Bitcoin math right there.

Why?
@cinoclav Good cuisine is built on risks! You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few scorpions!
Does anyone know off the top of their head if these would work for the 6s plus phones?
@bdb Hmm, this article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2016/05/31/iphone-6s-vs-iphone-6-whats-the-difference/
says the 6s is 0.2 mm taller, 0.1 mm wider, and .2mm thicker.
@bdb I have an iPhone 6 Plus and use a case specified for a 6s Plus. It fits perfectly.
Would have been an instant buy if it had integrated Qi charging.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Space 1999 Explorer ship??? Are you saying this battery pack is from … the past?
@cfg83 No. You’re from the future.
Is this type c compatible? Asking for a s8+ user.
People have been complaining about Meh the last few days wondering when it would return to the useless crap we are accustomed to…
Happy Now?..ya rat bastids?
/giphy rat bastid
WTF is that little L-shaped doodad that plugs into the lightning connector? Looks like just something to lose.
@rprussell Yeah I came here to say that’s just gonna get lost. Bad design.
@rprussell I’m pretty sure that’s how the battery connects to the phone. When not connected like when you’re connecting to iTunes, the battery appears to have a slot for storage of that piece.
@cengland0 @xterraguy Ohhhhh yeah okay. I see it now in the 3rd and 4th pics. Huh.
Innovative I suppose, lets you keep your port open if you need. I suppose.
I still reckon it’d get lost in the first week of ownership
@rprussell I think the storage hole is also the port for charging the case. If at the end of the day you want to charge both the phone and the case, there is no place to store the unique Pogo pin to Lightning adapter.
If I were to buy this, I would glue a leash to connect the adapter to the case. Just a few inches of string would give me months of use before a glue joint broke and I permanently lost the adapter.
This makes no sense from a technical point of view.
Not that I trust any numbers claimed for a product like this anyway, but come on, give me a reason to suspend disbelief.
@Sardinicus Sure it does. The physical size of the 6 Plus permits a larger physical battery. Same deal with the internal batteries. The 6 has a 1810mah battery while the 6 Plus has a 2900mah battery. @ruouttaurmind Yeah, I take it back. I misread the write-up to mean that this was one case that could be used on both the 6 and 6 Plus (in which case having two different capacity specs would be odd).
Yes, I am not Apple-cognizant.

@goldnectar Are you actually asking, or just being snarky?
If you are actually asking, it would be for someone who needs a bit more power, and does not want to make sure they always have a power bank at hand.
@bdb snarky…but the iPhone battery is still less than impressive even today.
Don’t miss this. Not at all my style of music, but it does not sound like it is particularly good.
I would suggest you click here and listen at Soundcloud rather than using the embedded player which I can not figure out how to disable.
@bdb Huh, my last edit disabled the embedded player. I wonder how that happened.
@bdb the meh face click eating bot has mutated and evolved?
@Kidsandliz I’ve been warning of something like this. I suspected giphy would be first to become self aware, but sure, why not the clicky face eating anomaly?
It’s ok, I’m very close to entering the singularity. This just gives me purpose. To do battle with the evil forces of giphy and the anomaly.
@ruouttaurmind Just remember that regardless of the universe the rules of gravity still hold…
@Kidsandliz My universe, my rules. It’s all part of my master plan to make Captionbot my minion and Siri and Alexa my ladies.
Sure, why not. My work phone case is cracked so even if I don’t use the battery it’s about what I’d pay for a new case.
@sinless My local thrift and dollar stores have piles of iPhone 6 cases.
A while back, a local Habitat for Humanities Restore put a free sign for a huge box of phone cases.
@narfcake This is true I suppose. I’ve been trapped at home this week which tends to make me forget places like Five Below exist. Anyway, the order’s made and I don’t really regret it so everything’s fine.
@sinless My personal credo: “Screw it, it’s only money. I’ll make more.”
“a device that makes you feel loved”
The basis of modern civilization.
Probably also the basis of the collapse of modern civilization.
what happened to fun and shenanigans?
its a VMP test on how many will hold out…
@username All the fun and shenanigans are on mehsucks.com
If I had an iphone, I wouldn’t be here.
Seriously all, I lost my love the palm pixi plus, 4 months ago. What should I buy next?
NO! and no. 250 bills is my budget.
o.k. disregard that
This thing’s trash. Died after 1 day of use.
@BossIvan You made it longer than me, mine won’t charge for more than a minute.
@capitalist Mine works… but it only charges as long as the phone is awake. If it falls asleep, I have to disconnect and reconnect in order to get it to charge again
@capitalist @iphegenia Did you ever figure out a solution to this? My 6 plus charges fine with the screen of but the gf’s non-plus stops when the screen goes off.
@iphegenia @toddlamp Nope, never did. I ended up getting so fed up with my lousy iPhone 6 battery that I upgraded to the iPhone X.
@capitalist @toddlamp After I managed to get the whole thing fully charged the first time, it seemed to sort itself out. I pretty much just charge the phone now, and the case hangs out waiting for an emergency. When I’ve had to charge the case, this problem hasn’t recurred.
Mine is beat to shit straight out of the box. Come on Meh, it’s one thing to be a clearance warehouse, it’s another to peddle literal garbage.
Damn it. I got this for my niece.
Link to instructions?
Got the case but no screen protector with it - which was the deciding factor in the purchase. Bummer!
You are all luckier than I as mine hasn’t been delivered yet. In fact FedEx originally said it would be delivered this past Friday and now the tracking just says “Scheduled delivery: Pending”
