@Stumpy91 Except in the olden days, they weren’t selling them on SideDeal at the same time and had at least 50 to offer each time it showed up for sale. I think they are limiting them to 12 each time to not compete with the SideDeal offer which is what they want people to buy – it’s not as good a deal.
@Lynnerizer I never thought about it but that’s why there are only 12 per offering. Maybe next year’s birthday they will have 13. That’s why they are $12 too, I bet.
@cengland0@cfg83 I don’t know about anyone else, but my current laptop F5 button also controls the screen brightness, so I have to add Ctrl to refresh.
@cengland0@cfg83@mossygreen oh, sorry you Ctrl+ guy. Welcome to laptop Hell.
It’s a configurable option in most cases — manufacturer-dependent. It’s often in the Bios or setup config screen. Some used a Fn+ instead of Ctrl. Also often business/professional series defaulted to F# keys, and consumer models to volume/brightness/etc.
But yes miss the old days on the W site. Some might remember the W-off song included the line My finger’s got an F5 complex.

I used to have meh.com timed just right. I would wait about 1.5 seconds before hitting refresh. At some point that 1.5 seconds broke because the 1.5 second delay would just refresh the screen to the previous item. That means I have to refresh again and wala, it’s too late.
@jmhsrv 11 bags of crap
10 broken laptops
9 jars a’leaking (what was in them?)
8 TrackRs tracking. Or not
7 small underwears
6 pastels painting
FIVE golden IRKs!!!
4 calling homephones
3 batteries failing
2 Meh shirts
And a packed full box of Regret…
@cbatte I used to WFH so was easier for me. Couldn’t go out shopping or go to lunch, though. Would plug in the USB Woot-off lights to remind me to keep on F5-ing. Now I am retired, NLWFH (no longer working from home). More time to shop. Need to get rid of a bunch of Amazon and Meh boxes before wife comes back. Get rid of the evidence. Honestly, I don’t know how all this stuff got here!

Dangit!
These were sold out before my page refreshed. Dang.
@cengland0 12 of them total
These go so fast
@sproinky There were only 12
@jmhsrv I get it, hyper competitive now for the cheap ones, at least they’re offering them. What am I going to do, spend $18 more? Inconceivable!
I’m still trying…
Like the olden days. Sweet.

@cengland0 wow, twelve? That’s meh.
@cengland0 @Stumpy91

Well… they haven’t ever celebrated their 12th year anniversary!
/giphy HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY MEH!

@cengland0
Yup, that’s why!
I must say I enjoyed the thrill of trying. The problem (again) is that my manual method of CTRL-F5 until I see the IRK is broken.
Gone are the days when just a little bit of effort gave me a reasonable chance of instant regret.
/showme Charlton Heston at smashed statue of IRK is yelling “Damn you HTML5, Damn you all to Hell!”.
@cfg83 Why CTRL-F5 instead of just F5 alone?
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “Charlton Heston at smashed statue of IRK is yelling Damn you HTML5, Damn you all to Hell!.”

TWELVE WHOLE IRKS

@jmhsrv @pmarin I am sure I could cobble together 2 working laptops out of 10 broken ones.
Yay! I am stoked for the old school irk play!
Didn’t realize there would be any in the mehrathon! Haven’t gotten one in over a year or so I think.
@mehrrychristmas well, lately the $5 ones are full of crap, or sometimes only 2 or 3 craps. The $30 ones, same craps, but more expensive.
I am going to have to start taking off work so that I can catch the irks. Having a job is getting in the way of watching for them.

@pmarin LOL! I blame all of my recent Amazon Prime day purchases on the dogs. Clearly it was them not me.
