I know it’s pot luck, but the quality of the instant regret kits has me regretting buying them. Most everything goes in the trash. There used to be one great item in each, not so much. Meh has taking the Meh fun out of it.
So, they’re accurately described in the product description?
Quality is really very varied. I’ve usually got my money’s worth out of them (even if not stuff I would probably have specifically bought)… But consider it entertainment… A bit like a lottery ticket, only instead of a piece of paper you get something physical to keep when you lose.
@chollo007 Not too bad IF it works. I have a Dreametech $99 vac broken-in-box. Came with manual where someone wrote 800 # for help and SN so figured it was returned non-working which turned out to be true. I don’t want to just put things like that in garbage. and it looks like it would be a nice unit so I contemplated buying a new one from here and then I’d have a duplicate set of things (probably battery or maybe motor/control unit is bad). But I already have Dysons.
Also things my wife will ask why I have, like cheap costume jewelry or 3x size ladies underwear.
@pmarin it works, looks like Meh bought a pallet of returns, in the box I found a slip of paper with a RA# and a note from the customer stating they were returning it since it was too heavy. they had not even unwrapped any of the pieces all still in factory packaging.
I’ve been around at least 9 years now, and I’ve had my fair share of the random bonus booty boxes. Was generally always excited when I scored one, even knowing they wouldn’t necessarily be good.
But yeah, I think over the last 3-4 years I’ve gotten four or five IRKs… and with the exception of one single item, everything in them has sucked. (The obvious exception being the Meh bags.)
I’ve grown completely ambivalent about them now because of it.
@haydesigner I’ve been a mehmber since 2014, and I still have never managed to score what used to be a Fuku, now an IRK.
At this point, I don’t care anymore, and it sounds like I’m not missing anything…
I should post this on the other W site because it was their term, but just doesn’t seem to be as fun over there. You guys are more fun. So here you go; store I found in Beaverton, Oregon; sadly I was there too early but will check back for my BoC someday.
I got the lovely blue & yellow bag, a set of the color LED wall sconces (no idea where to put them), and a case (5 boxes) of Off Limits Spark strawberry cereal.
@LexPendragon seems like a useful haul I think I actually bought a blanket like that a few years ago for about $15. Thankfully the toilet brushes don’t look used. The plastic storage bags are good but on rules from my wife we can’t store anything under a bed; it messes with your dreams and your Feng Shui. Still useful to put on a shelf in a linen closet or under the bed in the guest bedroom (most won’t check under the bed for bad mojo — that seems kind of inherently wrong though).
I have never thrown away anything I have received in an IRK, other than packaging material. It’s often useful, but what isn’t useful for me or my family either gets given away or donated. I’ve never felt like I’ve wasted my money on an IRK, but of course I’ve never paid more than $10 for one.
@PooltoyWolf I got a badly broken (complete with plastic shards) one of these once. It was after getting inked, so I wasn’t out money for it, but I’m supposed to take it to the hard-to-recycle materials drop off, so it caused me more regret than any other Irk I’ve ever gotten. Especially since it could have been useful for my elderly mother.
@blaineg@PooltoyWolf Yikes! I bought 2 sets of the Meh shot glasses in the birthday Mehrathon and one came shattered, but it was all there. (Customer service has taken care of it. )
The expired cereal seemed really wrong to me. I don’t expect the IRKs to be amazing, but I do expect them to not literally be garbage. I’m one of those suckers that has been VMP since 2014 and this was kind of the end for me. It used to be fun to score an IRK or Fuko, but it’s not fun when it’s broken or stale. We have always donated what we couldn’t use out of our boxes, but this can’t even be donated.
@snichola The cereal is not “expired” though, and we tested flavor/quality prior to IRKing. We have plenty of food items we’ve tossed, but chose not to toss these.
@snichola@troy That stuff tasted stale when it was fresh, in my estimation. (I got a chance to sample some after the first time it came up. My reaction was “meh”.)
Yeah. They were much better when they still charged $5 for one. Sometimes, you’d get a crappy one, but more often there was a solidly good thing in it. I’ve gotten a vacuum several times, cuisinart Food processor, cuisinart waffle maker… most had a nice sheet set that was always in a size I couldn’t use, but always could sell it on marketplace and at least make back my money on the irk. All I seem to get now are trackR’s, hand sanitizer, and tons and tons of bottles of acrylic craft paint, all the same color, and never a good color. Oh, and tons of the loop style phone holders, and screen covers and phone cases for iPhone 6 or 7. I don’t have an iPhone at all.

well speaking of IRKs sucking, here is what I just got in today…

@chollo007 @pmarin Have you tried troubleshooting it? Could be something simple or stupid!
@pmarin it works, looks like Meh bought a pallet of returns, in the box I found a slip of paper with a RA# and a note from the customer stating they were returning it since it was too heavy. they had not even unwrapped any of the pieces all still in factory packaging.

@haydesigner at a certain age bonus booty is still good booty. (YMMV).
@haydesigner @pmarin You need to learn to be choosier about your booty.
@haydesigner I’ve been a mehmber since 2014, and I still have never managed to score what used to be a Fuku, now an IRK.

@pmarin I misread that as “crap” three times before I got it right.
I got the lovely blue & yellow bag, a set of the color LED wall sconces (no idea where to put them), and a case (5 boxes) of Off Limits Spark strawberry cereal.
So, the biggest IRK win in a long time.
two pairs of XL granny panties
laura ashley wristwatch
chick-fil-a catering tote
case of post-“best by” strawberry cereal
garment steamer
My IRK arrived, and my wife seems happy with the haul. I … well, I liked the bag!
There’s a two pack of toilet brushes, two collagen something something face creams, two bags to put clothes in to store away, and a pink blanket.
(My twelve year-old already claimed that and left with it.)
@LexPendragon seems like a useful haul I think I actually bought a blanket like that a few years ago for about $15. Thankfully the toilet brushes don’t look used. @LexPendragon @pmarin
It’ll keep the guests from staying too long, maybe!

@Kyeh I assume it wasn’t usable with a broken case? That sucks
@PooltoyWolf No, I think it must have been returned after getting damaged in transit; it had someone’s invoice in the box!
@Kyeh Ah that does indeed suck!
@PooltoyWolf 🫤 Yeah. Oh well!
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf My best broken item was from a Woot BoC: half a broken shot glass, complete with sharp edges.
@blaineg @PooltoyWolf Yikes! I bought 2 sets of the Meh shot glasses in the birthday Mehrathon and one came shattered, but it was all there. (Customer service has taken care of it. )

Yet, i still buy them in the off-chance it may contain something good…
