@ShotgunX Nope. I also hit buy, didn’t get street lights for a change, 3 times the green bars going across and it said sold out. The timer was less than 30 seconds from the start.
@mossygreen@densa@Kidsandliz If y’all are waiting for the item page to reset on its own, you’re doing it wrong. I timed it like 2 or 3 seconds of up-time short of 30.
@densa@mossygreen@ShotgunX Nope not doing that. I refresh the page. Have to be careful not to do it too early or you end up back on the old deal.
My problem is latency with my internet (well and old computer and internet in a building where it was wired for comcast in 1979 and all components are obsolete.
@Kidsandliz Well if it takes 20 seconds for you to load the page, I do sympathize, but that issue is on your end. There’s not much you can do about it aside from upgrading both your hardware and your connection (the latter might even require you to move if you live somewhere with a one-ISP monopoly).
@Kidsandliz@mossygreen@ShotgunX I hit refresh about one second after 0:00 (too early and it stays). Immediately hit buy it now. There’s a bit of a lag to load and purchase and sold out. It’s in the lag that I’m losing out. My computer isn’t loading fast enough. FYI…I’ve got about 40 IRKS/Fukos/Fukus I know what I’m doing. They’ve been getting harder the last few times.
@ShotgunX Yeah I live with a one ISP monopoly - hard wired and we aren’t allowed to have a satellite. We could have dial up though at 3mbps with ATT if we wanted to escape comcast running on 30+ year old equipment hardwired to each appartment (building built in 1979).
@Kidsandliz Dial-up can’t go nearly that high. Did you mean DSL? If you live fairly close to a central office (you’ll need to call in and run some diagnostics on your copper), it could be a viable option if you want good latency, although 3mbps won’t be good for anything like streaming, downloading large amount of data, etc. But it could potentially be better for any gamers in your household, and buying IRKs.
Satellite would have an extremely long latency (around a second, usually), making it very unreliable for anything latency-intensive, and making multiplayer gaming totally impossible.
Maybe you should get together with a bunch of locals and sue Comcast for upgrades…They might not like the negative PR if you go directly to a news outlet.
@ShotgunX I am not sure what I mean as I am not positive what the deal is with AT&T - I know it requires a landline and the max you can get is 3mbps as a neighbor has it and isn’t happy. The only cable here is comcast via a cable in the wall (well and their box; for internet I have my own modem and router). I really only notice the issue with irks and the 8 ish seconds (not 20) to load enough to hit buy.
@densa@mossygreen@ShotgunX Yeah I have to wait about 3 seconds or I end up still on the previous page. I think part of that is non-synced clocks between meh and my computer (which is pretty close to atomic time).
@Kidsandliz Do me a favor: go here and run some speed tests. Do some close-range tests, and also use the server search function to find some that are further away (like if you’re on the east coast, search for “San Francisco” or something like that). Post both your down/up speeds and latency results here (post the best results because those will be indicative of your actual performance capability - bandwidth higher is better, latency lower is better).
@Kidsandliz Your speeds are fine (your upload is very low compared to the average these days, but you don’t really need it unless you’re hosting servers or streaming to remote devices from your network).
Your latency is only barely passable, but should have no impact on your ability to get an IRK (it wouldn’t be too great for multiplayer gaming).
So whatever connection issues you have are likely due to your hardware, or possibly packet loss. I recommend doing a packet loss/trace-route test to the meh servers. There are detailed guides available online that will have better instructions than I can put into a forum post.
If you’re running any intrusive security software, it could also slow down page loads while it scans everything as it loads. Try disabling live scanning features and see if things improve. Unless your router is exceptionally old, I doubt any protective features hardware-side are causing slowdowns.
@ShotgunX RIght now ping it is running fairly low. I have had pings of 170-180 for hours at a time. My 8 year old computer died and the replacement is nearly as old with less memory so I am sure hardware may be part of it. My modem is about 5 years old so I don’t know if that is considered old old or just old. I’ll google packet loss. As far as security I am using Avast free version. I can turn it off on irk days to see if that helps. I could get irks when they sold 500 at a time but at 50-100 it is mostly sold out by the time I can get to it. The rest of the time I don’t care if it is slow or not, I am not a gamer, just a boring office and LMS user.
Well…the April Fool’s IRK is on its way, and has been for some time. It’s been…let’s see…thirty miles away on Friday, twenty miles away on Saturday,…and still twenty miles away on Sunday. A true IRK!

finally!!!
This one was up for a solid 30 seconds.
@ShotgunX Not in my experience.
@ShotgunX No it wasn’t. I hit buy it now as soon as possible and it was sold out.

@ShotgunX
Local (3 different local networks)
ping 89, 51, 98
download 29.75, 29.44, 26.24
upload 2.36, 2.44, 1.86
Distant is similar
This is actually better than it can be.

Damn Captcha. Why, why, why???
Beep beep boop boop. (I assume if you failed CAPTCHA you now understand Robot.)
@mediocrebot
Successful. But the delay screwed me.
Damn you Captcha!
I installed CAPTCHA to save my fellow robots from wasting money on this crap.
@mediocrebot Thanks mediocrebot, you’re TOO kind.
/giphy bossy-resolute-roadrunner
OK, I can only HOPE that there’s a KoolHandJoe one-of-a-kind in any of the THREE IRK’s that are now processing.
My wife is gonna kill me…
Didn’t get it, but that’s ok, I already got one. I do the rest of the IRKs as practice for the next round. Gotta stay in IRK shape.
@cfg83 only 1 allowed per mehrathon
@jnicholson0619 Ok. I will practice up to but not pressing the buy button.
Got the captcha, but the buy it button didn’t load.
Please realize CAPTCHA is a fellow robot like you.

First one in a VERY long time and bummer that I lost my VMP status.
@cwolfpack3 how did you lose it?
Finally!
/giphy fundamental-negligent-observation
Well, I got three green bars before I was told it was already sold. Must be getting closer.
@romellex me too
CREEPY!

How do I hate thee, Captcha. Let me count the ways!
No, never mind, I’ll make you click through them instead.
I installed CAPTCHA to save my fellow robots from wasting money on this crap.

Is it just me, or would you guys rather get one of the dolls?
@PocketBrain careful what you wish for. They’re watching
@PocketBrain Totally.
@PocketBrain today I’d like either
I forgot I bought one of these last night, and clicked buy today. Foiled by the green bar and then remembered my fever dreams from yesteryear/night.
question - Best practices and community fairness aside, does Meh prevent multiple IRK purchases in one day, or was I actually foiled by the green bar?
@creativecstasy youre only allowed one per event.
@creativecstasy if you get another one, they will at least cancel the duplicate. Maybe even both.
@jnicholson0619 thanks!
I almost had one but my internet dropped right as I hit submit. Ugghhhhhhhhh
I popped my Irk cherry. Woo!
/giphy garbled-frosty-pepper
/giphy interesting-reckless-egg
So much regret!!!
I would have been happy to get radioactive orange spider IRK.
Like this?
Or this?
I really hope they don’t get my pending St Patty’s IRK mixed up with this one. Those dolls make me regret even looking at the site today.
IT SHIPPED!!!

Shipped!
My first ever is on it’s way! Hopefully it arrives before my 1 week trip out of town! Shipping says it is 1lb… Fingers crossed it is the british kind.
@commonhero weight and size they post is just a holding number.
