@kjady I’ve seen footage of others blowing away too - one was rolling through a golf course. I guess you can’t put sand in the bottom of them? And your house must be fun to have in the neighborhood.
@Kyeh Some have that option but most won’t due to the risk of tearing on the wond. The main issue is not using proper stakes. We use tent stakes instead of the flimsy wire ones. I assume the ropes tore or the stakes weren’t up to the job.
If used correctly, they’re fine and can be a good addition to a display. Too many people use them in lieu of a display or just throw as many as possible in whatever space is available with no thought to anything else. A lot of my friends (oddly, both some who shoot guns and some who don’t but design things) claim inflatables are best used for target practice.
Seems like it would be a great way to capture and sequester Carbon Dioxide.
Trouble is, it then gets released after the holiday season, when there is so much hot air anyway.
I bought the 14’ Rudolph and 12’ Clarice from Hammacher Schlemmer four years ago. Last year a group of teenagers came through the neighborhood at about midnight and tackled them, tearing the tiedown loops out of them, but thankfully didn’t put holes in the actual inflatables. They did pop my wife’s favorite inflatable, a pig and its piglet in Santa hats. It was the first night they’d been set up.
I think there’re fine if they’re not in my yard and I don’t have to take care of them. Last year I bought my nephew a 5 foot blow up Elmo that we just had indoors and it was cute, he would jump on him and hug him. He loves Elmo.
There needs to be a “Meh” option.
@Pony What I came to say!
It’s to windy around here
Nothing says “lazy people inside” than inflatables outside.
@hchavers I don’t see how you figure. Some of us put actual effort into it!
Saves room when storing. Know anything else similar?
@PriusRam Exactly!
@PriusRam this is the main appeal to me. Don’t have any available storage space for decorations.
@PriusRam
Yes
Our lawn last christmas:
@kjady That’s so pretty!
@kjady Love it!
/youtube giant inflatable pumpkin rolls over police officer
@Kyeh This is great. We had a 15’ pumpkin this year. Thankfully it remained staked down.

I have a Love/ Hate relationship with them!
@mycya4me I understand this completely.
@kjady @mycya4me Why is everything a “both sides” debate now?
Can’t we all just say “Meh, OK?”
@kjady @pmarin OK But I am on Both sides. I love them & Hate them also at the same time!

@jsfs This makes Fenris very sad.

@rogrtheshrubber I don’t understand vandals.
@rogrtheshrubber So vile.
The only acceptable inflatable is @pooltoywolf
Just saying…🫨
@llangley You’re making me blush!

If I had a front lawn, I would probably get this one.
@heartny Oh YES!
