I did it. Even if it does what it says it will, I'm not sure how excited I am. So I guess that means this was the right place to learn about the happy hour.
The idea being, GMail is smart enough to group Promos, Vacation, Purchases, and more that it can put it all together for the user to prioritize. If it's important, the user "pins it" and can see what matters to them quickly.
For me, it takes away remarking something Unread again and again or allows me to Snooze.
I got my invite and downloaded the app. It's interesting. I'll have to play around with it more before I decide whether it'll work for me or not. Thanks for the head's up about this. :-)
Every program that tries to auto-group or auto-arrange anything for me does a terrible job in my opinion. From desktop icons to emails, I prefer to organize them myself and turn off any "feature" that attempts to change or interrupt my system. This app and I would not get along.
@TheAlmighty1 I commonly look through several pages of Google search results, but I don't keep that data - it is merely temporary. I was mostly talking about things I keep like my desktop icons, phone apps, emails, files, etc. I have my own system for organizing those things and I don't like any automated system to try to auto-arrange or sort them for me. If there is a way to turn off that kind of "feature", I will shut it down. Priority Inbox is off, Windows auto-arrange is off, and if there was a setting in Google Search to allow me to sort the search results, you can bet I would use it.
@hallmike I have some empathy for your feeling, but as with any adaptive or AI technology, someone has to slog through the crap before it works even moderately well. Plus, I might be lazier and/or less certain than you. I have dozens of filters; I like that gmail is getting better about helping me create and update them. Also, in my brain any given thing could be grouped too many ways that I don't like to decide among; sometimes it's helpful to just cooperate with the software and let it do some of the work for me. I probably wasn't going to be perfectly happy with my organization either.
I don't find the previous version of gmail completely worthless and I find Inbox to be even less worthless. I feel a little bit better than meh about it. It has potential.
I got Gmail 5.0 off apkmirror.com. Inbox seems to solve problems I don't have -- this new version of Gmail just consolidates things nicely. I tried Boxer Pro for a while, but it doesn't always play nicely with POP3 and those are my most important addresses.
i got one from my cousin last week and have been using it. no opinion either way yet.
@carl669 a strong endorsement.
@JonT in all fairness, it's been a busy week so i haven't really had a chance to dink around with it all that much.

meh.
So, I sent the email, but I have no idea what it's for. I've had my head in the sand, under a rock, for a while now.
I did it but haven't gotten the I'd yet. I thought they would be sent by 8pm E?
I too have been under a rock. What is this and why would one care? How or what makes it different than a gmail inbox?
I like to think of it as GMail 2.0

@TheAlmighty1 I hate that I mark things unread again and again. But it sorta works. Yeah, like you said, maybe this is a better way.

@hallmike When was the last time you looked past Page 1 of a Google Search? If the answer is, "I use Altavista" I'll agree with you.

I've got Gmail Inbox App 1.10 (+), the latest version was updated on July 8th, 2015.
I see necro.
@Pavlov in that case...
Spoiler Alert: It sucks.
