@baqui63 I’m glad you mentioned that! You can support the American Eagle Federation (AEF), a not-for-profit 501(3) organization dedicated to protecting and conserving the Bald Eagle and other birds of prey. Here are the live nestcams at the headquarters in Dollywood. https://www.eagles.org/eagle-nest-cams/dollywood-nest-cam/
There are also nestcams in northeast Florida, where the wild eagles Romeo and Juliet are busy refurbishing the nest for the expected arrival of two eggs, usually around Nov 16, and int Washington D.C. All donations gratefully accepted, and they have neat merchandise too.
@baqui63@RiotDemon Caveat: the Florida nestcams usually see the eagles mating a couple of times a day. On camera. They’re quite vocal, too. You can find links to past videos on the site. Eagle porn, if you’re into that.
@baqui63 The NE FL live cams are popular in classrooms. Actually, teachers can schedule live chat sessions with the moderators, so kids can ask anything, and have it answered by biologists & other eagle specialists. At length. Sample from tonight (_AEF is a moderator) :
grt_AEF: Eagles mate 10 months out of the year, strengthening their bond and commitment to each other, but the female is only fertile for about 2+ weeks prior to and during her egg lay period. Her ova are ‘switched on’ by a hormone secreted by her pituitary gland, which is activated by increasing daylight length. They are ‘switched off’ by the hormone prolactin, which is associated with incubation.
If you want eagle pron, turn up your speakers and try this:
@OldCatLady I watched some barn owl porn. The father disappeared, the last surviving baby was removed by a rescue group, and mom and her new guy were making out all the time. It gets boring pretty quickly.
@OldCatLady I don’t remember in which of the 3 or 4 eagle cams I was watching earlier this year this occurred, but the parents dragged a full kitty carcass into the nest. (It looked dead to me, but no one was guaranteeing that.) Some of the more tender-hearted watchers were appalled and complained. There was caveat up for a few hours, but otherwise watchers got to see real live nature in action.
@magic_cave I heard about that- eastern Pittsburgh. Serious reason to keep your cats inside. Small dogs are vulnerable, too. I was watching the DC cam when they unzipped a fresh squirrel. I decided I didn’t want my spaghetti dinner, and made a kale smoothie.
@OldCatLady We were standing inside our back door last year watching a lone grey dove poke around the corn we put out for squirrels when SWOOP! the dove disappeared in a blur of motion. A golden owl that occasionally hangs out in our neighborhood had grabbed the dove without slowing down a bit. All that was left were a couple of downy white under-feathers. We were so startled we weren’t sure we’d actually seen what we’d seen. For no logical reason I kept our two poodles (both weighed over 10 lbs) inside a lot for the next couple of days.
And that, people, is what is known as threadjacking. Sorry, @RiotDemon, but I couldn’t resist. When this brood hatches, I’ll start a thread just for them, but it will be long after the election is over. There will be plenty of blood, gore, and infighting, so nobody will be bored.
@OldCatLady I love nest cams- thanks. I just can’t stand the crazies that think wild animals are their pets. I wish they wouldn’t name them. We were banned from seeing the barn owls because of threats to the landowners. Crazy.
@OldCatLady eh, I guess people didn’t find the video that funny. Without your thread jack, it would of disappeared by now seeing as nobody is even mentioning the video.
I would too, if I could.

@OldCatLady An eagle is taking a bath in a tub of water. Cool.
@sammydog01 If you go to http://www.nefleaglecam.org/, the male is staring at the camera, good closeup.
@OldCatLady Hmmm… I’ve never tried eagle porn. How does it compare with horse porn?
@OldCatLady Also, how is eagle porn a caveat? If anything, that is a good thing, not a bad one.

I am kinda scared that post the shark thread and what I was taught about ducks I googled eagle penis. Eagles are dick less.
@CaptAmehrican I’m gonna need an explanation on where baby eagles come from.
@sammydog01 @CaptAmehrican
Doesn’t the stork bring them?

Speaking of off-topic, here’s a wildlife re-habber’s Facebook page- lots of pics of baby birds.
