@RiotDemon
Hehe. Remind me someday to show you my purple warrior bracelet. It goes with the cap. Maybe I’ll take a pic of it with my resized JustGeorge bracelet, if I ever get it done.
@Barney Some years ago we were competing in the world science fiction convention masquerade. I made three sets of beautiful 6’ wingspan fairy wings with irridized plastic panes on wire frames. They were on hinges to a wood backplate with springs so that when we moved back and forth they would flap open and closed. Because of their size and movement, they needed a solid harness for the platform. So the way that I created the harness was each of us put on a tight fitting, thin t-shirt and we wrapped three or four layers of duct tape in the shape of a harness over it. Then we cut away the excess t-shirt fabric and cut an opening in the front of the harness. We hole punched the opening to the harnesses and used shoelaces to lace them on and off. They fit snugly under our nude dance leotards which we decorated with leaves and flowers and gauzy skirts. The adhesive from the duct tape still itched quite a lot through the thin t-shirt fabric, though.
@RiotDemon Do you think everything that I own is purple? No, that is not my house. Heck, that may not even be me.
My bracelet says “warrior” and it is purple. It was given to me to remind me that I am able to beat anything, if I just put my mind to it. Yeah, it’s helped me get through some rough times with my health.
@moondrake that sounds like an awesome way to make a form fitting harness… I might have to steal that idea for my wings. I currently have a plastic back plate and a couple of belts as shoulder straps. It works, but it’s not the most comfortable when I’m trying to stealthily sneak around wearing my platform boots (highlighted in a different thread somewhere)
@RiotDemon@Barney Sadly, no photos, it was in the days of film, 1990 I think. It is shocking for me to think it was almost 27 years ago. I have it on shakycam, but the tape has been misplaced for some time. I sent it off to get digitized without success (the company only digitized the first 20min bit of a 6 hour compilation tape) and put the tape away !!someplace!! for safekeeping. LOL.
@moondrake back in my sca days, we used duct tape for everything, but for making corsets, one seamstress i knew took tight tshirts, and layered them with duct tape, and cut them off so she would have a perfect pattern just for you
@Barney Nope, purple isn’t my dealio. I like wood, blues and greens for home projects, although my living room is mango and my bedroom is pale yellow. I was calling on their best light when painting the walls. The bedroom gets morning light and the living room gets a lovely late afternoon reddish gold. Plus those are real flowers. My planter has flowers I can’t kill.
@moondrake I love your cute little house (actually it’s not smaller than mine). You’ve done so much to it. Dang it, how come you got all of the creative talent?
@Barney See. Like. Remember. Adjust. Do. The adjusting is where the art comes in, and the more you adjust other people’s ideas to suit your fancy, the more you’ll start having fresh ideas of of your own.
@dashcloud When I was a kid, my biggie chore on Saturday, was to clean the bathroom. We used Comet scouring powder on the sink and tub. (Do they still make Comet?) I was a bit absent minded as a kid, which also makes me rather hopeless as an adult. Anyway, one Saturday, Mom went to the refrigerator to make our lunch, and… yep, you guessed it, I had put the scouring powder on one of the shelves. My parents never let me live that down.
But that doesn’t top the time my parents asked me to watch the pressure cooker and, of course, I forgot. Exploding Lima beans on the kitchen ceiling and everywhere else was not fun to clean up. The sad part is that I never heard the pressure cooker blow up, even though I was in the next room. I was too busy reading a book.
As for my car keys, the keyring has this little lever that when pushed down, it detaches the car keys from the house keys. And that’s exactly what happened, either in the garage or somewhere in the house. I can’t find them. At least I still have the house keys
@Barney I have my car key on a carabiner to my house key ring. The main reason is so when I leave my car to be serviced or valet parked I don’t give strangers my house keys. I also usually leave my house keys in the car and put the car key in my pocket when I go into a store. Unfortunately, twice I’ve reversed that and locked myself out of the car. At least that leaves me with the house keys so I can get a ride home to get the spare car key.
@Barney I hope you found your car keys. That has been known to happen to others. My motto is ‘I’ve always been a space cadet, and I’ll never know when I’ve lost because I’ve never really had it.’ I started saying it in my 20s. That being said- I bought a keyless car, so my keys reside in a zippered pocket in my purse. It’s harder to lose a purse.
If you can’t take it out in public (because you’re so nice that you don’t wanna intimidate the locals, right?), maybe that means you’ll be careful with your keys.
I approve.
@garrick52 Um, thanks, I think.
I suspect they want to inspire your creative side:
Duct tape outfits
@duodec
I have no creative side and neither does the couple in this photo.
/image duct tape mania
@Barney I think “I love purple” as was used in this forum was/is creative
@duodec Why, thank you!
I wonder what happened to that strange person?
I love purple paisley!
@curtise Me too.
Party Time
Who is that in the photo?
@RiotDemon Whoever it is, I’m sure it hurt like Hell taking that tape off. I bet she never does that again.
@Barney I was worried you had a captive.
@RiotDemon
Hehe. Remind me someday to show you my purple warrior bracelet. It goes with the cap. Maybe I’ll take a pic of it with my resized JustGeorge bracelet, if I ever get it done.
@Barney is that your house? It’s lacking purple walls.
Does it say health warrior?

@moondrake Duct tape can be a lot of fun especially if it gets hot.
Did you win the competition?
@Barney We were in Novice Class (novice, journeyman, master), we won Best Novice.
@moondrake Cool. Do you have a picture you’d be willing to post?
@moondrake that sounds like an awesome way to make a form fitting harness… I might have to steal that idea for my wings. I currently have a plastic back plate and a couple of belts as shoulder straps. I’d love to see a photo of the wings.
@Barney everything must be purple… Of course.
Once I own a house, I’ll paint it crazy colors like purple and neon orange…
@RiotDemon
Well… There goes the neighborhood.
@RiotDemon @Barney Sadly, no photos, it was in the days of film, 1990 I think. It is shocking for me to think it was almost 27 years ago. @moondrake Aw, that’s too bad, would’ve loved to have seen your costumes.
@moondrake aww, lame company!
What material did you use for the iridescent wings?
@Barney maybe I’ll keep the colors on the inside of the house…
/image purple orange house
@RiotDemon
Wow, where’s my sunglasses?
Wait – That’s not @moondrake’s house is it?
@Barney I actually kinda like it… But the blue would have to be replaced by the black.
Definitely bright.

Hey weren’t you the one who asked about light yellow duct/k tape too? Or was that someone else?
@Kidsandliz Yep, I haven’t bought the light yellow yet.
@Barney Well who knows you might get another package then from whomever sent the first one. So better answer the door after all.
@Kidsandliz
Nope, they’ve learned their lesson… I think.
Maybe you could make a duct tape gown for your wedding?
@jbartus Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. You are posting in the wrong thread.
@Barney that @jbartus, such a rabble rouser!
@Barney
@mikibell
@jbartus Shame on you, you made me giggle.
@Barney
Well now if you get worts you have the cure.
@barney I seem to have misplaced your address- could you send it to my email again? Much purple love and thanks!
@dashcloud Um, not more duct tape? I promise I’ll be good.
So, Looking in my messy email account, I couldn’t find your email addy. Would you like to send it to me at my favorite color barney001 at the G?
Or you could whisper it right here in my ear. No one is listening, I think.
@Barney Hmm- I was trying to be funny here, but it didn’t work out that way. @trillian is clearly to blame for the joke falling flat here.
@dashcloud Whew, you had me worried! Now if I could only find my car keys. Have you seen them?
@dashcloud
@Barney The freezer or the couch?
@dashcloud When I was a kid, my biggie chore on Saturday, was to clean the bathroom. We used Comet scouring powder on the sink and tub. (Do they still make Comet?) @Barney You checked the car floor, eh? We should all guess where. The winner will be accounted a Mehntalist.

@OldCatLady I found them behind a box that was against the garage wall. I guess I swing my arms when I get out of the car?
/giphy monkey arm swing
@Barney has no sense of adventure. Maybe she should start decorating her future palace. Like this:
@OldCatLady Nice try.
Hey @Barney
See how nice this looks?
The colors work well together.
@f00l Truthfully? That orange is just awful. Look how embarrassed that cow looks.
@Barney
Keep trying.
If you swing and swing that bat, odds are that someday you’ll connect with something or other.
Don’t give up hope now.
@f00l How come you didn’t send me a KU keychain? I could take that one out in public.
@Barney
If you can’t take it out in public (because you’re so nice that you don’t wanna intimidate the locals, right?), maybe that means you’ll be careful with your keys.
@f00l You’re awful.
@Barney

@Barney
We respect your privacy. We really do.
I’ll prob send an emissary to deliver this assurance to you in person.
(So that you will recognise the messenger)
Do say “hi” for me, OK?
@f00l It better be wearing a diaper when it comes into my house. I don’t allow any peeing/crapping on the floor.
@f00l
I was looking for Texas on this list and didn’t see them.
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/20163677/surprise-experienced-wichita-state-shockers-top-summer-bpi-update
Oh, wait! There they are right down there near the bottom. Good job, Texas!
@Barney
Extreme congrats to Wichita State. And to other traditional and new NCAA basketball powerhouses.
I’ll just have to fall back on my dual loyalties.
@f00l Shoot, you’re no fun. But I figger you will seek your revenge on me during football season.
@Barney
We try to always be Texans when it’s warranted, ya know?
@f00l Hey, take a look at this one. Looks good?
https://www.engadget.com/2017/07/27/asus-chromebook-flip-c302-review/
I got sticker shock at the lawyer’s today, so I’m not doing any computer buying for a while.
@f00l Nevermind. I’m still going to wait.
