How long will it take to recharge the 4000 mAh battery pack or a connected device using the solar panel?
Solar recharge times can vary based on the intensity of the sun and weather conditions. The average charge rate is 220mAh per hour.
Ya, because @giphy has developed an attitude lately and has it’s binaries in a bunch. I’m fixin ta give it an attitude adjustment iffin ya know what I mean. Nip it in the bud before @giphy goes all Skynet on us!
I like it, but why didn’t you put it on sale BEFORE the swiss-miss backpacks? I can only by so many backpacks in a month. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, it gets a meh.
@gallogj Couldn’t find that either. Since 2.1A is something to boast about, they would say it if it was so I would assume it’s a maximum of 1A if you’re lucky.
@Shmuel I think they are referring to the solar panel. IMHO, 5V at 1A sounds optimistic. They also note that it is a “manual” charger, and that it can overcharge a battery. A lithium ion battery. Yikes. Did they just solder leads from the solar panel to a USB socket?!? I don’t see specs for the battery pack, which could be anything, though I also would guess that it would be 1A in and 1A out unless otherwise specified.
I am not affiliated with meh in any way, so there’s no lawsuit here, but can you say “where do you hide a fukubukuro?” Exactly.
I’m not saying anything but if you wanted to hide a fukubukuro---- exactly A LOT OF FUKUBUKURO—where would you put it?
wink.
ok.
you all are cool.
(Big shout out to the Psychic Friends Network for helping me out on this.)
@JasonToon I love when you make these music posts. I was so happy and low-key surprised to read your Paradise Garage post, but today’s post about Reggae Sunsplash!, and Gregory Isaacs! and Sugar Minott and Yellaman!! Wow!! This is my second favorite meh post after the one I linked earlier; no mediocre, all satisfaction! Appreciate ya, you the real MehVP!
@Bettya Also in Ohio and purchased for the same reason, but I also have extra portable solar panels, now I can shove them in here. @ whoever-the-hell -said-it last time…backpack song stuck in my head again.
per iLive website under faqs, “The average charge rate is 220mAh per hour.” +per user manual “NOTE: This is a manual charger and will overcharge a
battery if permitted to…”
@mehod this may be a poor assumption on my part, but I always believed the charging circuitry was included in the rechargeable battery pack. Micro usb cables and phone chargers are usually just 5v power sources and not smart enough to know if a battery is charged. So the smarts for regulating the voltage and current to charge a lithium battery would have to be included in the power pack itself.
Has appeal for keeping my Pokémon Go machine topped up during all the summer walking I’ll be doing, but protest march organizers/the Orwellian police state prefer that your backpack be clear for that sort of thing.
Someone drop a review when they get theirs and maybe I’ll pick it up next time. What’s the amperage on this sucker? 2.1ish?
Given the manufacturer, what are the chances after a month it’ll be iDead? Is the backpack designed to be used without the panel/battery assembly (as in the panel stops working, is removable, and doesn’t create a gaping hole)?
My son uses a speaking device… basically a window 8.1 tablet. He also needs a new backpack. We need a list of things this will charge and things that are better off charged other ways.
Thanks, JasonToon for the SunSplash post. I lived in San Francisco during early 80’s- I worked the door etc. at most of these guy’s shows in the Bay Area. One of my roommates was young star-turned-crackhead Hugh Mundell (“Africa will be free in 1983”)…It ran parallel to my punk/underground music scene experience.
My Son and I both needed a new backpack. $18.00 for backpack is very fair so I bought two. For me, having the solar panel is more of a public service announcement to bring the subject of solar energy/renewable energy into a public conversation. It may actually work affectively as well which will be quite useful.

@Kidsandliz Thanks for the button hit for me the other day - appreciate it
@WTFsunshine No problem… you could go for a dual record - 0 personal meh clicks, 100% they are posted each day for you with a daily request… : )
I’d ask what would happen if the Sun stopped working, though we’d have bigger problems to deal with.
@PlacidPenguin You burn coal to generate electricity to shine a light on the solar panel so you can charge your battery. Duh.
@PlacidPenguin Mehbe it’s where I live, but the Sun seems to stop working at least 12 hours a day. Odd.
@mehcuda67
You may want to get that looked at.
But how many watts is that solar panel? I suspect it would take over a week to recharge that battery.

Tempting price just for the solar bit. Can’t justify it, though…
I first thought it said that the price was $8, I was about to buy all of them!
/giphy buy them all
@ConAndLibrarian wow, that is an odd image.
@ConAndLibrarian

What size?
I like it, but why didn’t you put it on sale BEFORE the swiss-miss backpacks? I can only by so many backpacks in a month. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, it gets a meh.
Yo ho it’s hot the sun is not a place where we could live
@CraigDanger but here on earth there’d be no life without the light it gives
@powdermilkman
TMBG
Looks like a great deal, just not one I’d use. The wallet wins again.
Very tempting. If the powerbank is 4,000 mAh, then how powerful is the solar panel? And how long does it take to charge the panel?
@JT954 According to the mfg:
"HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECHARGE THE 4000 MAH BATTERY PACK OR A CONNECTED DEVICE USING THE SOLAR PANEL?
Solar recharge times can vary based on the intensity of the sun and weather conditions. The average charge rate is 220mAh per hour."
So… a long time. At least 18 hours of sunlight.
@Collin1000 So we would have to move to the Land of the Midnight Sun to charge it in one day’s time?
@Collin1000 just buy 10 of these and a USB hub, then you can recharge your phone in 1.8 hours
@Collin1000 200 milliamp hours per hour, good to know!
This is so absurd that I kinda want it?? Not enough to actually pay money for it, though…
Anyone know what the output is? Is it 2.1A?
@gallogj Couldn’t find that either. Since 2.1A is something to boast about, they would say it if it was so I would assume it’s a maximum of 1A if you’re lucky.
@gallogj The manual says it’s 1A.

Gross this deal needs a bath its just too dirty.

I see Meh finally found a product that the folks in Wyoming want to buy.
@heartny sorry that must have been me. Probably only me. It’s lonely out here.
@michaelahess Glad you finally found something to keep you company
@michaelahess
Wyoming is a real place?!?
@madflack It’s a magical place. And empty. If it wasn’t so far away from everything and everybody, I’d move there. Although all that snow…not a fan.
@madflack no!
What’s the use case for this? Being able to recharge your iPod if it is sunny all day and your back is to the sun?
@mediocresquared Um… yep, I think you got it!

Well this lady right here bought one ,just incase I should have to bug out here in Toledo ,Ohio, lol

That should be illegal - so instead of doing the mash potatoe it’s the mash oatmeal?
@WTFsunshine She looks…confused.

@djslack I believe you are correct. The 18650 batteries I own have a protectio board under the + end that is yes only from 3.6 to 4.2v.
So ‘watts’ the deal? …that’s right something we will get a charge out of! Meh the charge go with you…
@AttyVette Did you oversleep?
@sligett actually did lol – nice to know I was missed
