@macromeh I’d still trust a $100 vacuum over FSD ($15k) using only cameras, plus the vac has nicer “minimalist” interior styling, just two circuit boards, wires and a few 18650 batteries.
I just wish I could find a new battery online for my Ecovacs Deebot 601 that I got in an IRK a few years ago. I liked the little guy and he did a great job before he died…
@phendrick@PooltoyWolf if the eBay link is accurate regarding matching batteries then any battery matching the Ecovacs Deebot 500 for example would also do it seems https://a.co/d/2d3gpqg
Looks to be a rebrand of the “S8” or “S10” that are commonly around. I’ve got one from an abandoned brand, Tacklife, I had to force install the app because the brand went under so it was never updated to modern Android, and the vacuum itself works great. The app is absolute trash, with a UI that makes absolutely no sense, and the English translation of it only makes the confusion worse.
The app for this one looks to be identical, but it does show as available for my modern Android phone, not just my old ones, so at least it’s not a completely dead app.
The mop part of it is… unfortunate. It might do an alright job of it, but where I’d want it, is a mix of carpet and bare floor… and it has no ability to determine carpet vs bare floor, so it’ll just drag it’s mop pad all over the carpet if you let it. There’s probably some way in the app to tell it it can only mop certain areas, but I cannot figure it out.
I’ve got a little iRobot Braava 240 that is physically incapable of reaching onto the carpet, which I use for that instead.
If you have an area that is all hard floor, the mop might work well, or if you can figure out how to restrict it in mop mode.
I might try this bot’s app and see if it’s compatible, considering that both the vacuum and the app look identical, though I know that usually the rebranding process at least changes some bits so that they can’t be used with each other’s apps… might try that because it at least looks like it’s maintained, and the translation might be better.
@eblade the Tacklife S10 Pro looks like a Roborock S5 Max rebrand considering button configuration and all which itself is a Xiaomi it seems.
Was thinking about opening it up and looking if there is a way to reflash it to something else…
@eblade yes you can select no-mop zones on the main map with most of those. But it’s a pain to get it done precisely. Best is to put cardboard boxes or other boxes over the specific area you want to avoid and after running it, marking the area it didn’t go for avoiding to mop.
This is the Wyze vacuum 100% which is a rebranded Xiaomi MIJIA. I wonder if this vaccum would be able to connect with the Wyze app… if so, this would be worth.
I was wondering why no one was buying this. The comments always give me the answers I need. I was tempted to buy at this price but not not if the app is “hot garbage”
Had to part ways recently with my Neeto XV-21 after 2 replacement battery packs, one lidar motor rebuild and one controller board. Incidently it was my first ever Woot purchase, (2015 , just before the singer left and the rest of the band formed Meh)
Here we go again. In for one.
@datruandi
Yeah, the LIDAR motor is a brushed DC motor and the brushes wore out. Luckily i’ve taken enough DC motors apart as a kid that i knew what to do and adapted some brushes from another motor o fa similar size.
The controller board was not expected. I found one of those on Ebay.
Not only is the app questionable, but the real problem is it doesn’t suck! Or rather that it does, just not the right way. I have watched it, again and again, pick up particles only to drop that same piece back onto the floor a foot or so later…or drive over it altogether and never suck it up at all. This is normal performance, not the exception. I’ll eventually – soon – abandon it on the street in favor of a Shark that actually acts like a vacuum.

I for one welcome our new robot overlords!
Hell, even Teslas don’t have LiDAR!
(although they probably should or at least radar)
@Kerig3
Maybe that could explain their poor performance at cleaning floors.

I want a robot that does all the household chores, not just what this one does.

@PooltoyWolf Resurrect him with a used battery?

“well working condition”
Good luck.
@PooltoyWolf try to find out which bot is most likely identical to the 601.
@phendrick @PooltoyWolf if the eBay link is accurate regarding matching batteries then any battery matching the Ecovacs Deebot 500 for example would also do it seems https://a.co/d/2d3gpqg

@datruandi @phendrick Kinda what I’m hoping, that my robot uses the same battery as one of the other models listed.

@eblade Tacklife S10 has half the suction power (2000Pa)
@troy in that case, this vacuum REALLY sucks!
@eblade @troy it was also a lot cheaper

@BobOki Yeah this look identical to my wyze. Which is why I’m confused because wyze doesn’t have a mop feature.
@BobOki @jacksons8 I saw a post in the Wyze subreddit claiming that mop functionality showed up in the latest version of the app.
No way I’d suggest using the Wyze app. Their software is hot garbage.

@Boot2thehead funny enough just bought a replacement battery for one of those. Wasn’t aware that those components may fail
