@dahobbs9 And even the ones that are worded with nothing but good things are 3 and 4 star. That is obvious review manipulation to prevent it from seeming too good to be true.
“Highly Recommended” - 3 stars, really?
“A must-have device” - 3 stars here too?
“Worth it” - 3 stars
“Very essential device” - 3 stars
“it is amazing” - 4 stars
“An efficient and fast vacuum. I have no regrets” - 4 stars
Whenever I see one of these, my first question is “Can it avoid animal poop?” If not, videos have shown that you don’t want one if you have animals in the family. Just putting it out there.
I received one of these in my holiday Irk (well, it WAS the Irk, plus an Irk bag). Open box but everything was there and definitely unused. Once it was positioned on the base correctly (it does come with one, and just barely contacts it to charge), it charged for several hours and then worked fine, mapping and sucking and quickly wrapping up more hair than the roller can handle. The app is a little funny but functions. Have to prep the floor from kid/dog items before running it, or it tries to join with clothes, cables, and other things. Enough battery life to cover a 1100 sqft first floor. It feels like an honest effort at an off-brand robot vacuum. It made for an amazing Irk. Can’t say I’d pay 100 big ones for it, though.
We’ve come a long way since I bought my robot vacuum on meh. My Deebot was a bit more pricey and doesn’t have lidar or a mopping option. And yes, there are pet poop stories out there that concerned me too so I simply ran it manually while present instead of on some schedule while absent or asleep. The little bots work great, but you still have to prep a bit with clothes and cables, as others have mentioned. It’s actually a good thing as it requires you to establish good habits of putting your dirty clothes in a hamper and organizing your cables etc. For the most part, my blind Deebot got things done while occasionally getting stuck on some random thing now and again, but I would expect the lidar feature to help with that. It was also surprisingly thorough being random and blind. The lidar should improve efficiency by mapping the cleaning route which should also mean that it’ll take less time to clean. Blind bots just run until the battery gets low no matter the cleaning area.
I think $100 is a great deal for a lidar bot. I don’t know the effectiveness of the mop feature, but it seems neato. However, my Deebot is doing fine and being a bit neglected because I moved to a different place that’s less robot vac friendly. I always wanted to put googly eyes on em, but never did. He’s such a good little worker!
How do so many people have poop on their floor frequently enough that they expect technology to avoid poop. How about just not having poop on your floor?

@CatFriend The least you could do is provide evidence.
@CatFriend @yakkoTDI OR you could, you know, train your pets to not poop on the floor. Just saying…

@ramaiv Oh, and haven’t used the mop feature yet.

For the record, iHome is the current brand of the company that used to be known as Soundesign.
Interesting that Mercatalyst is selling this on Walmart’s site for $179.99, with a list price of $299.00.
@brakeforbeer Well, Walmart IS a High-End Retailer just like Tiffany & Co. so that makes sense!!
