My last vacation was a staycation and my next one will be too. All the rest of them as well. I’m very much a homebody. I leave traveling to everyone else.
I’m currently 5 weeks into a 6 week trip through Ireland and the UK. I have been using today’s adapter, that I bought on meh, through my trip.
My favorite city was Edinburgh with Cardiff a close second place.
If I could go anywhere with my next trip it’s a toss up between Spain, Morraco, and Uruguay. But I promised a trip to my nephew if he graduates HS, so the destination is up to him.
@kittykat9180 Edinburgh during the Military Tattoo in August, Dublin and its environs (no specific dates) and a Scotland distillery tour (minimum three weeks, I think) are all near the top of my bucket list. As a Doctor Who and Torchwood fan, Cardiff is also on my list, along with Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, if only to be able to say I’ve been there, though I’m not sure I could ever learn to properly pronounce it… Welsh strikes me as harder than Turkish, though it might not be as I’ve not really tried to learn it.
I can’t choose just one…
All of Spain, all of Italy, all of France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Egypt, Brazil, Machu Pichu, …how about just everywhere I haven’t been…
@00@koils, I found Prague to be pretty crowded, though they do have an ossuary. I liked Brno better. In fact, I’m trying to move to Brno by end of 2025.
Terceira Island Azores. I lived there for three years in the village of Fonte de Bastardo. I would love to travel back to that place. It’s a paradise in the Atlantic Ocean.
I am pretty much up for travel to ANY place, no matter if I’ve been there before or not.
We currently have trips planned for:
Amsterdam-Basel river cruise then 3 weeks in France to visit family
Ocean cruise with daughter and her family NJ-Bahamas then a week in the Poconos for fall colors and a few days in NYC to visit the 9/11 stuff and maybe see a show.
Sailboat (barefoot) cruise to St Lucia and Martinique with side trip to Guadeloupe.
Travel is what we do with our money instead of fancy homes, new cars, bigger TVs etc.
In all honestly, I have such a short old lady attention span that going anywhere feels like a waste of money. About 2 days is enough and I wanna go home. And for an individual place, I probably have about a 2 hour attention span before I’m boredish.
That being said, I’d love to do all the Smithsonian museums, never been, but only when we have a teleporter and I can buy an annual pass and go a couple of hours here and there every few days, so yeah, not in my lifetime.
Rent a European van camper for a few weeks and go to Denmark and Sweden, maybe even Finland and Norway. Visit the Lego city Billund in Denmark. Maybe the IKEA founding city in Sweden… and the Absolut vodka factory. But then get away from the big cities and tourist stuff.
Definitely not in the peak of Summer when all the Central Europe tourists visit. Spring during thaw or later in the year. It’s OK if it starts to get cold. make sure camping vehicle has good heat. And preferrably 4WD.
I’ve been to all those cities (I don’t remember Honolulu, I was only 5) but I’d love to go back to all of them. Also want to visit Portugal, Sicily, New Zealand, Scandinavia … but probably not real soon because my mother is very elderly.
I’d like to go to the moon, mars, Antartica, China… and a ton of other places I haven’t been yet. Reality I am going to be driving 1084 miles one way at the end of the month to visit my mom. Been there before.
I would love a long stay in Felicity, Perspicacity, or Sagacity. The problem is that a road trip always takes me through places like Mendacity, Complicity, and Duplicity.
PARADISE!!
The South Pole during their winter!
@mycya4me With how hot it’s going to be this weekend I’ll agree.
@kjady @mycya4me It’s winter there right now.
@kjady @werehatrack They only have a bare min. crew. it is about 50. there is no In or out! at the South Pole station, The Winter crew designs a New Pole cap each year.
I watched Joe spins the globe & learned a lot!
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=joe+spins+the+globe
@mycya4me I’d go to the south pole in the summer.
@Kidsandliz But there are hundreds of people there!
City of Atlantis!
No tourists around
@lonocat too humid
@lonocat Good Idea if you knew how to Swim & had a rebreather!
Wellington, NZ.
@werehatrack guess you like good dining and earthquakes
@lonocat High-quality earthquakes are hard to find. Most are the wrong size.
@werehatrack The botanical garden in Wellington is very nice.
My last vacation was a staycation and my next one will be too. All the rest of them as well. I’m very much a homebody. I leave traveling to everyone else.
@kjady I’m a homebody too but not by choice! I really LOVE travel…
@kjady That has been me as I have been having Cash flow issues!
Cheyenne, Wyoming. Just large enough for everything I need without all the drama and filth of a big city.

Rome
Sydney please. I’d like to go down under.
@milstarr Ooh, great idea. Would also like to check out Auckland.
@milstarr @Salanth Auckland is OK if you like cities, but I preferred the smaller beach towns and wilder areas.
@milstarr Same here. Love to take a month and hit Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
@cinoclav Let’s go!
Quito.
Already been to London, Paris and Tokyo. Cairo would be interesting.
@Salanth Humble brag!
@Salanth I’ve been to Cairo dozens of times, albeit the one in New York
lonocat
saidIf my thinker were thinking better, I’m sure I could come up with a much longer list of related options.
@xobzoo Those make Awesome selections!
PANS! GLANDS! CRAYONS! AWESOME!
@xobzoo Can I go with you?
@Cerridwyn Sure, if you’re willing to sit in the navigator seat.
Venice
I can’t choose just one…
All of Spain, all of Italy, all of France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Egypt, Brazil, Machu Pichu, …how about just everywhere I haven’t been…
London, since my fiancé lives nearby in Leicester and I have yet to visit him. (He’s been here three times so far!)
I’m fine traveling the US. There are so many beautiful cities right here where I can plug in and recharge without any adapter.
Any city in Finland or the Netherlands. Or Any city in Ireland.
@joshirelan Limerick is a lovely city and an easy day trip to Moher.
Prague in the Czech Republic. I’ve been told it was spared of damage in WW II and is the most beautiful old city in the world.
@koils I don’t have a good reason, but Prague is the place I want to go next.
@00 @koils, I found Prague to be pretty crowded, though they do have an ossuary. I liked Brno better. In fact, I’m trying to move to Brno by end of 2025.
Terceira Island Azores. I lived there for three years in the village of Fonte de Bastardo. I would love to travel back to that place. It’s a paradise in the Atlantic Ocean.
@accelerator My father always said the Azores was a really great place.

@chienfou Spending the kids inherence! Very GOOD!
@mycya4me
Nope… Spending the money I earned. They both make WAY more than I ever have, What they decide to do with it is on them…
@chienfou So you should spend as much as you can then Find some worthy cause & give the rest! That is if you wish…
@mycya4me
I’m working on it!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Prague
I’m Split between Dubrovnik and Zagreb. But somewhere in Croatia.
@OnionSoup Split is less crowded.
Positano

@Cerridwyn, annual pass? Smithsonian museums are free to enter.
@Cerridwyn @kittykat9180
well they can check that off the list.
Now, about that pesky teleporter issue…
@Cerridwyn @chienfou, a little more challenging that one.
@chienfou @kittykat9180 well by the time we have a transporter ,I am sure they won’t be. lol
@Cerridwyn There is an Lifetime National Park pass for Sr. which is pretty kool I have one!
The next one I visit.
New Orleans.
