Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!
I’m 180 degrees from you on this.
You might call me a detractor but I think you are spreading manure and I’m not here to bale you out.
Deere has become a four-letter word as a result of their “you’re not allowed to repair your own equipment anymore” corporate policy, which has been amusing the hell out of their less idiotic competitors.
@brainmist Deere has been fighting it tooth and nail, and so far I haven’t seen it move to Federal court but I might have missed that. My understanding is that the Feds generally consider it a state-court issue, and a lot of states have no right-to-repair laws on the books at all. (Texas is one such, and even some of the Deere dealers are opposed to the policy, not that being on their customers’ side does them any good.)
@aetris@brainmist@PhysAssist Yes, it is. I was just asking brainmist how many she found. Until I saw that website @yakkoTDI posted, I thought maybe she took the picture.
@brainmist That FTC suit was filed on January 15th. I have a funny feeling that about a week later, it stopped getting actively pursued by that entity.
@aetris@Kyeh@PhysAssist@yakkoTDI I just found one; pulled this picture because it’s much easier to read than the rusty one I found. But yeah, it is cool!
I haven’t seen anything about it being dropped. Considering the current damage being done to farmers by policy there’s a chance they might stick it out just for PR but it’s probably been forgotten or people fired…
@brainmist@unksol And given that Deere more recently became the target-of-propaganda-opportunity-du-jour-for-exploitation, the suit and agreement would have fallen into the category of “let the mess continue unimpeded and unheeded”.
Hah - took me a minute!

@rockblossom my brow is furrowed at your response. I think you’re just green with envy. As for me, I refuse to be a hoe for the establishment.
@ybmuG Hay now! For some of us, farm work was a harrowing experience!

@werehatrack Isn’t that being legally contested?
And yeah, utter dick move.
Meanwhile, my yard unearthed the craziest wrench this year…

@werehatrack I think I was raised too Star Trek, or at least too Federation.
self-repair
@brainmist That wrench (only 1?) is so intriguingly sinister-looking!
@brainmist @Kyeh Surely two? And I need a banana for scale.
@brainmist @werehatrack Interesting wrench and has a Deere connection.

@brainmist @werehatrack @yakkoTDI
VERY cool
(& TIL there is a wiki for wrenches!)
@aetris @brainmist Well, I meant did she find only one? I did think that was 2 wrenches.
@aetris @brainmist @Kyeh
It looks to me like a picture of 1 wrench displaying both of its faces.
@aetris @brainmist @PhysAssist Yes, it is. I was just asking brainmist how many she found. Until I saw that website @yakkoTDI posted, I thought maybe she took the picture.

@aetris @brainmist @PhysAssist @yakkoTDI Pretty neat find!
@brainmist @werehatrack
They came to an agreement

Probably because they knew if they did nothing Lina Khan and the FTC were coming for them.
FTC filed suit before something happened on January 20th

I have him, does he count? (Note ‘sign’ near hoof)
@PooltoyWolf So his name is John?
@Kyeh His name is actually Jack Darlington; he’s a character from the novella ‘The Moon Pool’!
@PooltoyWolf Not what I had in mind for farming, but he definitely counts!
@PooltoyWolf Okay, well - “Jack” is sometimes a nickname for “John” (don’t ask me why) so you could say he’s a John, dear!
He’s very nice.
@Kyeh -insert ‘nice rack’ joke here-
@PooltoyWolf
He certainly looks proud of himself!
@Kyeh Yeah, he’s got what some would refer to as bedroom eyes…
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf he’s got that expression “you know you want some of this!”
@Kyeh @ybmuG You could say that!
