I get up at 3:00 AM EST every day for work, and I get up at Midnight every day to check meh... Or I stay up till Midnight... Yes the mugs look "kick ass!" That's why I got one. ;)
I also wake up at 5:30 CST each morning. 90% of the time I am also awake at 11:00 to check Meh. I am sleep deprived and only seem to miss the good stuff. I have one of these mugs I will ship to someone if they want it...for the low cost of $15
If you want a good deal, sometimes you have to make sacrifices in life and possibly change your sleep schedule. If you are unwilling to do that, you may miss out on a good deal.
I miss some deals while I peacefully sleep. Life is full of minor disappointments, and if I really NEEDED the item, I probably already have it. It is like Black Friday sales. Not worth the emotional stress.
@Grimmloch - I actually empathize with you - If I wasn't a left-coaster I would probably miss about half of the items. I'd probably be better off, though. I'm low budget, and I have too much stuff for my little house, so I really have to stop and think before buying anything. I thought the mugs were really nice, but don't even have room for them in the cupboard. My last compulsive purchase in a moment of weakness was pillows that I really didn't need. The forums keep me coming back, though (and maaaybe my 302 clickface streak).
It sure would be nice if instead of midnight the new item of the day would launch at noon, just to give everyone a chance at the fun. Or, even better, at some unannounced random time each day just to add some excitement to the site. just sayin'
