@juststephen The meaning and implications of many of these terms, especially in an epic, mythic rock anthem such as this (and especially coming from U2) is far from unambiguous. Even if we assume that the reference is biblical, the suggestion that "devil" refers to a being unequivocally a "fallen angel" is arguably a sectarian interpretation. I think "bad god" is a brilliant translation. And indeed, if we follow Milton, the lesser gods are in fact "fallen angels" anyway. :-)
You bad ass mofo Irk!
I've been waiting for this one. Loved it! Thanks @Matthew! Well done as always!
@mediobarkre That was great! Good job!
@mediobarkre Nice!
@mediobarkre One of my all-time favorite songs. I'm glad you were the translator. Well done, my friend, very well done.
First new clothes and now new scenery? I love it! Change isn't always bad (just most of the time). And Aunt May too.
@sammydog01 #AuntMay
@sammydog01 Oh! Aunt May! I was so confused.
Cept the devil isn't a bad god, just a fallen angel... And 1st is kinda stretching it.. Otherwise, fantastic per usual.
How about "red imp"
@juststephen Yes, '1st' is a bit of a cop out.
