Recipes? Okay, yes, sometimes I take notes and write down what I did, but a heck of a lot of my cooking is based on just using what’s in the fridge and pantry. As for technique and exact ingredients, I wing it; “season to taste” figures strongly in the process. As a result, I have a number of “standards” that never come out exactly the same way twice. And I’m okay with that.
Yes, I also make some things which involve following a recipe. Mostly, that’s baked goods and things like the crumpets which seem to vanish very quickly every time I try to make some to stash in the fridge for later in the week. But recipes are just one approach to food in general, and I only use them when I’m not really sure how I’d make a certain item without one.
@tweezak Yep. If a recipe is involved, something that’s quick and easy is going to get made a lot more often than something that requires shopping at three different stores, recommends performing a stretching exercise before starting, involves using enough different pots and pans and bowls to cause me to load the dishwasher halfway through, makes me look for an extra outlet to plug in the additional small appliance, and leaves me too tired to want to eat it afterwards, particularly when it takes more than one day to complete it. (I’m looking at you, Reuben sandwich made from scratch.)
/showme lazy
Easy to follow.
@yakkoTDI yep I agree100+%
I have 3 crockpots
Depends
@Cerridwyn Are we talking about recipes or underwear?
@phendrick depends
I’m lazy and while not easily distracted, If I’m reading good luck pulling my attention away. Easy to prep, long cook time is more my style.
I never use recipes, too much effort.
I prefer making a simple recipe in a short time, but I like eating complex recipes taking a long time.
Good
@tinamarie1974 Came here to say this!
I like the chopping part. Then I want it over with.

Low effort and short cook time. If I’m cooking it’s because I’m hungry and I definitely don’t want to wait around for something to be ready to eat.

I don’t cook, so for me it doesn’t matter either way
Either effort, either cook time, fewer dishes.
I have ADD…so if there’s too many ingredients I get bored and distracted…so I just avoid those
@sweetjoey Let’s see, I need two eg…huh, what’s in this container? Leftover peach cobbler, I better eat that before it goes bad.
@sweetjoey @werehatrack be sure to heat and then add vanilla ice cream.
Short prep, short cook time. if it’s anything else, I’m eating frozen pizza
None of the above. Quick and easy to both.
