@PooltoyWolf I’m beginning to think the writers sneak in a typo every night just to get some sort of comments even if they’re aren’t many for the actual product!
@PooltoyWolf@warpedrotors
Oops. I didn’t. My phone did it. 🫢
(Seems like it’s karma to make a typo when talking about other people’s typos! Or “typso,” as a friend of mine once wrote.)
I’ve been sober since September 7, 2017. That’s a bit over 2,008 days if my math is correct and it’s fucking hard. I ordered a Fo-Hito, a virgin mojito if you will for my birthday a few weeks ago and it came back from the bar a little spicy. I really could have chugged it and not told anyone but after confirming with my wife (who does drink) I set it aside and told the lovely waitress when she came around. The management took care of us that night and hopefully the bartender didn’t get in trouble. I don’t know why I’m telling you all this story other than I think about that drink and it reminded me how much I miss booze but for my kids lives it’s not safe for me to touch the stuff again.
@show_the_maw good for you. I used to be quite the extensive alcoholic. Then, my wife took off on me and never came back and I literally haven’t had the desire to drink since she’s been gone. No meetings, no cravings, she was literally the reason I drank. It’s been since July of 2013 for me.
@show_the_maw@sicc574
congrats to you both (and all the others on here that have traveled that same path).
Alcohol is not inherently evil, but the way different people are wired makes it a potential hazard for some. Ditto for pot. If you find that it’s affecting your life/livelihood beyond the immediate enjoyment, it is time to step back and re-think it. Kudos for making that effort for yourself and those you love.
@show_the_maw I developed a minor struggle with alcohol that came to a head last year (developed physical need without the mental cravings). Had to taper off for several weeks and then had a sucky couple months where I just felt off physically. Was able to reintroduce it earlier this year and have not had it affect me the way it did last year. I can’t imagine what being mentally addicted to it would be like, so kudos to you for being able to push it away.
Also, don’t feel bad for voicing stories like this (unless you’re doing it every day, lol, that’s probably not healthy), getting stuff like this off your chest will always be helpful.
@kittykat9180@chienfou Having just mucked out the chicken coop yesterday (with results that match that title), this doesn’t seem like a particularly appetizing name for a drink.
@Kyeh@werehatrack
To me “someone” lacks continuity with the rest of the list items, which are all types of spirits. (Unless you literally mean making a drink out of someone…) But yes, “somewhere” is definitely wrong.
@chienfou@werehatrack
But it doesn’t say "cocktails made out of, it says made with, so cocktails made with someone special out of whatever spirits would be the best!
@Kyeh@werehatrack
again, I go back to parallelism for the items in the list. Guess I have had that hammered in by listening to my wife grade English papers…
(if the list was mother/father/brother/cousin/neighbor etc I could agree)
Rum.
@yakkoTDI Yeah, how is rum left off the list?
I am a fruity guy. I like rum too.
@hchavers We accept all kinds here.
@hchavers We even have some nutty ones here.
Cocktails made with somewhere else?? Someone’s already had one too many!
@PooltoyWolf That mediocrebot is a drunk I tell ya.
/giphy drunk robot
@PooltoyWolf Or maybe not enough.
Or maybe the copywriter just had this restaurant in mind: https://steakandtonic.com/

@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf I’d like to think you intentionally used “they’re” to get this response, but I’m sure you didn’t.

@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf the curse of the grammar nazi
Rum. Mixed with fruits or coke works for me.
@remo28
makes a mess in your nostrils though…
Liquor.
Usually hard liquor, preferably top-shelf liquor,
especially if someone else is buying.
Eventually I’ll get to try them all.
Rum!

Congratulations to both of you. I live with someone who likes to drink so I know how hard it is.

So, what if I don’t love cocktails?
@rockblossom
there’s always tomorrow.
Nothing beats A Slippery Slide Through A Muddy Chicken Coop
@kittykat9180
…having actually done that I am not sure I want to re-live that experience in a glass!

No option for “any of the above”?
@ahacksaw That’s what I was looking for. Depending on my mood will determine what I’m drinking.

Somewhere else? No. Someone else.
@werehatrack
NO… SomeTHING else.
@chienfou @werehatrack
Either works better than what’s written.

@Kyeh @werehatrack
yep, you called it!
/showme a cocktail made with somewhere else with a splash of comments, please
@mediocrebot I’m on board. Gravity defying citrus has always been my thing.
The correct option is “yes”.
I’ll take a virgin cuba libre
@DocJRoberts
isn’t that just a Coke® and a smile?
