@mikibell Yeah, I’m here! Bored as hell, can’t flat sit for more than fifteen minutes at a time (feet in the floor), trying not too sleep too much so I’ll sleep better at night. Pain isn’t really bad, more like a Charlie horse in my butt cheek when I sit just right, usually during urination. Fun.
Second morning in a row I’ve needed the second oxycodone. Feeling loopy right now.
But so far, everything seems to be progressing nicely. I can actually almost touch the outside of my right ankle! That makes me really happy.

They wanted to give me one for a migraine when I was in the hospital and they wouldn’t let me have a tylenol or ibuprofen. I said no thank you, I will take the migraine I think I would STILL be asleep if I took one!!

@mikibell No,No,No you are totally ‘un-bad’. The thought of someone going to the hospital and declining an offered narcotic is just hard for me to grasp. Locally if you don’t get an opioid for your complaint of fill-in-the-blank the patient thinks they didn’t get treated. We end up with lots of “I’m allergic to …” all the NSAIDs and other non-narcotic analgesics.
It’s very refreshing to have someone say “No thanks… I’ll have a Motrin please…”. Over the past decade I have gotten narcotic scripts for a root canal, a heart ablation, and meniscus surgery. I have only taken a half dozen of the pills in that time, and promptly (happily) went back to OTC acetaminophen, ibuprofen or naproxen at the first opportunity.
@chienfou heheh I think the hospital thought I was a junkie, they tested me for EVERY narcotic known to man – all because I had a 105 fever and an infection they couldn’t find the source!! The fever is why they wouldn’t give me the otc stuff. I did beg for a excedrin migraine. I ended up with an imitrex, because I was getting physically ill from the migraine.
When I had my thyroid removed, I ended up with 3 prescriptions for one of the milder narcotics (can’t remember which). I didn’t fill any of them. I am terrified of becoming addicted. It took me quite a while to get my mother in law off of the opioids. I don’t want to have to experience that.
@chienfou@mikibell I shattered my heel in 2014. Worse pain ever, yes including childbirth. Had to have calcaneus surgery, 15 screws and a titanium plate. After the surgery, my mom made the doctor rewrite the script for 800 mg ibruprofen and gabapentin instead of opioids. She thought I might get addicted since I was just going to be laying around for 4 months healing.
The nerve pain was the absolute hardest thing to endure. The 800 mg ibruprofen was barely able to quell the pulsing throbs. There are probably more people out there who shun the hard stuff, than most people think.
Actually I hate commercials period. I don’t remember the last time I watched a regular TV station. It’s all Netflix, Amazon Prime, Redbox rentals etc. for SWMBO and I. Of course, I work evenings so that may have something to do with it too.
I dunno, I find them pretty well thought out and entertaining. I’m also not one to take much stock in opinions that seem overly harsh without reason. -shrug-

They try to rip you off, under value your car, don’t respond unless you speak to a supervisor and then that only works for a couple of days then you are back to being ignored… They make decisions without the paperwork signed (for example sending a check to the holder of my auto loan and then auctioned off my car all without a power of attorney from me or any other signed paperwork from me, we were still arguing over the value of my car and I hadn’t yet agreed to settle)…

In November I was stuck in traffic, completely stopped, and a flatbed tow truck drive was not paying attention. He started to turn before he hit me, but I still had rear window glass in my hair and on my dash.
I called State Farm and a tow truck was there within twenty minutes. He gave me a ride to the body shop, which gave me a ride to the car rental place, and I was on the road an hour and a half after I got hit. State Farm arranged the tow, the body shop, and the car rental.
The car was totaled, and I was a little disappointed with what they gave me, and I’m still waiting for them to subrogate my deductible, but they extended my rental while I was car shopping.

Once you are a certain age cough, cough the AARP coverage is pretty good especially if you bundle with house insurance.
@craigthom State Farm has a lousy reputation of ‘bait and switch’ when it comes to their pricing. I was a victim of it myself when I was younger. They rope people in with great prices and suddenly ‘discover’ they quoted you wrong and want to raise your premiums. Not to say it happens to everyone, but of the many people I’ve spoken to about insurance over the years, State Farm has stood out far above the rest in screwing people over this way. On the flip side, Geico is notorious for dropping people with too many or too big of a claim. I’ve switched insurance companies numerous times over the years while playing the pricing game. As mentioned above, I’m back to Progressive. Any claims I’ve had have been handled very quickly and professionally with constant updates. Amazingly enough, at my last renewal my premium actually dropped.
@craigthom Yeah, sometimes the connection you have with your agent is as important as the carrrier. Besides, if you move your insurance around too often you may lose the opportunity for discounts based on length of policy, number of claims etc.
Thankfully since I live in a small town and have been fortunate to avoid getting hit in traffic when in Atlanta or other metro areas, most of my driving is pretty low risk. Our last claim was on a road trip with DW driving and getting rear-ended as we pulled off from a light. Guy didn’t realize that when you are trying to go up a hill from a dead stop your car hesitates slightly when you manually shift from 1st to 2nd in a car with a stick. Trying to beat the turn light he accelerated into our back end. Luckily, nothing some body work and a few chiropractor trips for the missus couldn’t fix.
I didn’t read the thread but…I like all the insurance commercials because they have a ton of different ones. That way if they put a bunch on durning the same program, you don’t have to watch the same one over and over.

I checked AAA, but State Farm still won. And my across the street neighbor works for my agent, so I need a compelling difference to change.
