Hurricane Michael, It's Worse Than What You Saw on TV
33We survived and thru some miracle my house is in livable condition. It’s just a matter of a giant oak tree leaning on it. I live on an acre of what used to be heavy woods. Not anymore. 40 year old pine trees snapped like matches. Old growth oaks uprooted. We won’t get electric back until the 31st. My son’s house was completely destroyed.
Tyndall AFB was pretty much wiped out. So is Mexico Beach FL. They took the full brunt of the hurricane eye. We were about 15 miles from the full eye. Sustained winds of 150 miles per hour roared for almost an hour. And just like they describe the sound of a tornado, it sounded like a train.
Almost every utility pole in the county was snapped off. It’s been a week and driving is still dangerous. No one seems to know how a 4 way stop works at a dead or more likely missing red light.
I thought my husband was crazy when he bought a whole case of shitty double A batteries but MEH has saved the day. I also want to thank him for buying almost every stupid flash light MEH offered. And all the battery rechargeable thingy for phones have proved to be a god send.
So here’s a big shout out to MEH. Your silly products have saved the day. And please pray for Panama City.

I’m so sorry to hear your story, and sorrier still for all those who have no homes. The world gets distracted by the next event so quickly, and they just seem to move on, as though a few cameras coming in and showing us all the devastation would help with the day to day misery of it all.
My heart breaks for you all. :-{
Wow, @Teripie, I had no idea you were in this hurricane. Is there anything we, as the meh community, can do for you? More flashlights, batteries, power banks? Please let us know.
Hurricane Michael?
@Mehrocco_Mole
@therealjrn Thank you!
@Mehrocco_Mole
@Teripie - So sorry!
If you weren’t able to evacuate, you might need to deal with PTSD symptoms.
Sending well wishes your way.
I second @Barney’s question - Can we help?
@Teripie, I have generator you can borrow. Brand new and still in the box. It’s part of our hurricane supplies. Anything else needed? I’m just down the road in Pensacola.
@Mehrocco_Mole Thanks for the offer. A week ago we might have taken you up on that. But a very dear friend found one and delivered here.
Gosh sorry to hear about your son’s house but glad yours sustained only a little damage in comparison. Yes do let the list know if you or your son needs things/money as this list has helped others in the past and certainly helping “one of our own” is something I am sure some would do.
Thanks all for the heart warming support. It has brightened my day. The best thing you can do is send warm thoughts our way. MEH has us well supplied in battery’s and flashlights. Now if they could send us a few thousand telephone poles, several thousand miles of various cables, and a few thousand linemen with bucket trucks, that would be a great help.
And gas, lord do we need gas!
@Teripie More good thoughts coming south to you. Do lets us know if you change your mind
@Teripie i can send you some taco bell. Every time i get that it makes me have a ton of gas.
(Yesi know you meant the other type of gas)
hello
@naranneil2011 Hello, are you here for your AMA?
My aunt lives in PCB. Her house got a little damage but her mother in laws got pretty messed up. The hospital where she works was damaged and they had to move everyone to a new one. Another friend lives there and her moms house was destroyed while her own house was slightly damaged. The beach my parents camp at (port st Joe) is severely damaged and may never recover. I can’t even fathom what everyone is going through
