@yakkoTDI Liver and onion fan here. Also thick Liverwurst, or Braunschwieger slices on fresh white bread with a large slice of sweet onion, and lots of mayo and a cold beer. I make a bee line to any buffet that has chicken liver as well. I can feel my cholesterol rising as I type this.
I don’t eat them often, but when I do, I prefer Dos Liver… (Here, hold my cigar while I ski off a 10,000 foot cliff across a mile-wide pit of burning lava…)
@lonocat Growing up in the South in the '50s, I can remember well the morning AM radio (we didn’t have FM then, folks) adverts for Carter’s Little Liver Pills. I remember there was a small corked vial of them occasionally in the medicine cabinet. I seem to remember that they were small, oblong, and red in color. Then and now, I’m not sure that they actually did anything useful, but they were heavily promoted nonetheless.
Mine only got trashed from chemo (which meant I had to stop it two rounds early but fortunately I was in remission by then). Livers are one organ that can regenerate (as mine did once chemo was stopped; fortunately without having too much damage so it could recover before the damage killed me/made me sicker due to the liver not being able to do its job completely or at all). Of course the liver also is one of the places the body parks stuff in you that isn’t good for you (so “flushing” your liver would mean - if that actually even worked - putting that stuff back in your body where your liver would just need to collect it back after it had a chance to damage your body circulating again).
@Kidsandliz I sympathize with your situation. As you may know, while the liver does regenerate, the new liver tissue is not work as well as original liver tissue. It regenerates in a nodular fashion and the interruption of normal liver architecture causes the problem. A person like you should definitely avoid this and any herbal product for the liver that hasn’t been approved by your liver specialist.
@fredex I avoid anything without solid science behind it. I tell people on the cancer lists that science works all the time, just like gravity, not just when you want it to (wouldn’t that be nice with gravity? ). The ignorance in this country about basic science is dangerous. Um testimonials are not science. Once of my cancers (blood cancer) with no cure waxes and wanes with almost everyone who has it. People do something stupid (like eat apricot pits daily - um that turns into cyanide in your body so of course it will cause cancer cells to shink/die along with brain cells, lung cells, and etc.) and then think correlation means causation. Not to mention give me a couple of hours and I can create a website with a ton of testimonials complete with photos for whatever snake oil I want to sell. Sigh.
Has anyone who has used this product actually seen liver function tests (bloodwork) improve? Has anyone had improvement on ultrasound or other legitimate objective liver tests? The empirical responses to use of this product are completely meaningless and I would caution anyone with real liver disease to avoid these types of herbal products. The results could be
disastrous.
@fredex Damn these body parts; why are they not hot-swappable?
Clearly we evolved (or maybe not so well) before the tech generation that will either solve all our problems or be the end of us. We will let the A.I. judge. Oh, wait… not optimistic about the outcome.
Been thinking about this song since the topic came up. It’s an old Dire Straits song; didn’t know they did an updated video for it. Doesn’t feature any consumption of “heavy heavy fuel” but at 2:30 key line of lyrics cover it.
Grilled with onions.
@yakkoTDI Don’t forget the fava beans.
@phendrick @yakkoTDI And a nice Chianti.

@Jackinga @yakkoTDI Just don’t get the Boar’s Head brand.
Mine’s great. My wife’s just had a biopsy today.
@NapkinEater Hope it’s all good news!
@Tadlem43 Thanks!
I’m not aware of any issues with it.
Are these the same liver pills that everyone said Jimmy Carter took?
For the benefit of those who are scratching their heads…

It’s great to be a liver. I will be a deader soon enough.
NASH
Liver and bacon on a Portuguese Roll…IYKYK
It’s doing well, and sends its love.
I have a pretty healthy drinking habit, so I’m guessing the liver is pretty unhealthy
/showme a healthy human liver dancing
At one point it was pre-cirrhosis. But it has healed itself and is darn close to good as new now!
@sicc574 if you care to say, was it drinking or dna? glad you’re better!
