How's Your Day Going?
15It's raining and raining. The guys are trying to build a shed in my backyard, but that's not going to happen until it drys out. Mom's dog won't go outside -- she's afraid of the construction equipment and, of course, the rain. The doctor is still running tests to see if I have a heart. Gee, I always thought it was my brain I was missing... The only good thing is that, THE WEEKEND IS HERE!

Oh, I forgot. We had a hail storm (golf ball size) and I think I need a new roof. On the bright side, @CaptAmehrican likes my silly comments.
I don't know that my day will cheer you up. Just want to say that you definitely have a heart. A beautiful purple heart. I hope your tests come back good.
@Thumperchick Aww, thank you. They already know what's wrong with my heart. Now I'm just paying for the doctor's new car and his summer vacation home. And he's invited a couple of his friends to also enjoy a piece of the pie.
I'm wearing plain purple polo over a catshirt today.
My Friday otherwise: I'll be finishing one project today, a week ahead of schedule, and the other projects I have on my desk are due to be revised, so no point on continuing on them yet. And nothing else yet, as my supervisor is already gone for the weekend.

Day is OK. Will be done w it around 7pm. Then i get to go home and stare at a buncha stuff i really really need to do but i will find the means to put off most of it. Then i will find some semi-useful task to fill up the weekend so i dont feel too guilty about ignoring the hateful tasks.

I spent my day helping 9 and 10 year old kids make pottery for mother's day. Both exhausting and awesome. Now I'm waiting for my youngest to get out of school so we can all go to Dairy Queen. Then it's home to snuggle with a kitty and pass out really early.

@mfladd @Barney Wow. Just wow. Thank you so much. The universe has also provided a nest of just-hatched mockingbirds, which look exactly like grey bumblebees with oversize mouths. I can't get photos b/c parents divebomb me. The slide show is a great substitute!

Sorry for the crappy day. I got an unexpected and very welcome day off from work. Took myself out for breakfast - one of my very favorite things to do alone on a day off. And I'm wearing a purple T-shirt.
@AnnaB Breakfast is my most favorite going out to eat meal.
I don't think telling you how awful my day was is going to make you feel better :( but here is a purple heart

Three weeks ago my vet's office called about a cat who had been abandoned when his owner was evicted. We said okay, we'd take him, but only as a last resort. We really don't want to be taking in anymore since we're looking forward to downsizing, through the natural life cycles. Anyway, next day we get called down and we grab a carrier. When we get there they've run disease tests and it came back positive for FIV and FeLV. FIV isn't a concern. FeLV is. So, they did another test and sent it out. Waited and waited for results, trying to figure out how to save him.
Last night, the call came in. He's negative for everything nasty! And to add icing to the cake, they found him a home where he'll be the only pet! Can we say spoiled?
And I've got au gratin potatoes in the oven next to the meatloaf. The house smells yummy.

This week (hell, this year) has been pretty crappy, but I ended it with doggy cuddles, so I won't complain. I hope things get better on your end.
@PurplePawprints When I was growing up we always had at least one Boxer dog. I guess it was a family tradition or something. Anyway, I love Boxers. They are very loyal and such sweet dogs.

@Barney Boxers are the best. Mine is making it very difficult to add another to our home after losing Galen. We brought home one for a trial that she did well with, but he attacked our cat. Another was perfect in every way, but she was determined to dominate and fight with him. sigh Now we're looking for puppies since I've been told she might be more accepting of a baby.

When i was little we had 2 boxers. The would herd us away from the street, and go snarly if a strange guy came to the door. That is, unless someone was getting food for them.
@f00l We had a Boxer who was my dad's dog; my dad was his person -- except for the time when dad and I were roughhousing and the dog got upset and bit my dad in the butt. Boxers are great protectors. I loved that ol' dog.
6 hours in the ER with a 1/4 in. kidney stone. But boy howdy those drugs they gave me are fun.

I went to a doggy graduation. There's a local program called "this able veteran" that trains PTSD service dogs for veterans. The vets go through a training that lasts 3 weeks before taking their dogs home (all across the country) all at no cost to the recipient. The cost to train is about $25000. I was there with the Illinois Elks, who donated $27,000.

@MsELizardBeth Today is a good day. The sun is shining; my backyard is drying (maybe they can finish the shed on Monday) and I had a pretty good visit with my mom. I took her dog, Lady, and they both had a happy reunion. When the weather gets a little warmer, I'll be able to wheel her outside for walks on the grounds. It's really beautiful there.
This day is looking to be fairly awesome. I colored my hair (back to jet black) and I'm loving it, it's sunny and gorgeous so I'm going for a ride in a bit. Then it's off to a friend's house to celebrate her buying a new place all by herself. Grown up sleepover time!!!

I had to wake up early (like, before noon) to go buy the Neil Gaiman coloring book for my best friend this morning. The person who entered the store just before me was wearing a purple scarf, and was given some sort of prize for it because the owners love purple (and said customer was the first person wearing purple on Independent Bookstore Day). Guess who I thought of?
Also, to stay on topic, I treated myself to a PBR-batter pancake on the way back, and the Nats are already up by 4 in the first inning, so my day is shaping up to be a-okay.

@hallmike Yep yep yup. Actually no, it's a waffle, why the hell did I type pancake? Bit more savory than a typical waffle, but I don't think if you just handed it off unknowingly to someone, they'd think 'hey, this has PBR in it!' It's pretty delightful.
Also when I first saw this thread, I thought 'who the heck is @bamey? Testament that I needed a nap.

Had to get rid of some expired beer (beer does eventually go bad, especially if it's in your garage), but I got new stuff to replace all of the old stuff, so not that bad. The local beer store had undergone a remodeling, which made room for more beer, so that was pretty good. Enjoying the 12 pack I bought today.

@dashcloud You can use beer on your grass to help dethatch it. You can also use it to kill snails.
