Damn I hate nothing more than pet hair hanging around. Luckily I have no pets at my own house. Worst is going to someone's house with a pet, chill on their couch, and take home hair you find for days, lol.
Cats = Fur bunnies. Silicone brush + cats = Cats and no fur bunnies on the floor. Not to mention that brush makes it easy to get fur off furniture, clothing, rugs...
Yesterday I took the living room rug out on the patio and used the shampooer on it because my Electrosux can't handle accumulated cat hair. The shampooer produced gross little cigar-sized piles of fur, and by the time I was done all the little craps added up to one cat-sized pile. Ugh.
Can't buy this vacuum, however, because I bought the HDTV receiver last week. Whoops. Priorities.
Went to vacuum today and the beater bar on the vacuum had so much fur on it there were no bristles showing. Thankfully it's a Dyson, so the bar is easy to pop out, clean, and pop back in place.
Post-surgery, I'm prohibited from not only operating a vacuum cleaner but even making motions reminiscent of pushing and pulling one. My apartment is starting to look like the tumbleweed graveyard. Only seven more weeks!
I have a tarantula... she could potentially become furious and shoot her hairs into my flesh. This has yet to occur.... although, I will not rule it out a possibility. I guess I just live in constant fear.
@connorbush You need to start a strange pet thread just to see what other crazy creatures people have around here. I am ok with the spiders. It's people that keep snakes as pets that really creeps me out. I hate snakes!
@connorbush I had a pet snake as a kid. My grandmother paid us a nickel for every snake we got out of her basement. Mom let me keep one, a cute little garter snake with a red belly.
@sammydog01 That is a solid gig... I might have been tempted to put snakes into her basement that I could: 1. Keep playing with snakes and 2. Make more nickles. Sounds like you have a nice grandma and cool mom. Garter snakes are neat, my neighbor had a wild-caught one that ate goldfish. Always thought that was curious.
@JonT I have a 1.5 year old Chilean Rose Hair. She is docile and used to be the personal pet of a local breeder. As a purist, I follow the 'handle your tarantula as little as possible'. She is way tiny ier and less terrifying than the beast in that video. Tarantulas are actually incredibly fragile and mostly docile--handling them and dropping them even a very small distance can result in their death.
@connorbush Who knows why this thread got bumped, but since it was, my kid has a recipe for tarantula (yes she used to eat them, and other spiders and bugs, due to no other food). I was afraid, when she told me how to cook them that this is what she wanted for dinner. I was wondering how I would tell Petsmart that I wanted their biggest, juiciest, tarantula and no tarantula food. Fortunately she told me, “Spider no good mom. In this country we have chicken”. LOL
I have a gray dog that appears to be some kind of husky/chow derivative. He has a dense undercoat. For the 2nd time this year he is blowing his coat. It's like thistle fluff everywhere!
@mfladd@mikibell@lisaviolet One memory of Chrissy that I'll always keep with me is that whenever she became upset about something, big or small, she'd go and sit in the hallway with her nose up in the air. She would stay this way until someone came along and gave her a pat on the head or a belly rub. Or FOOD. Food always cured what ailed her. Thanks, guys, for your support. It's time for me to leave this thread.
A Loan From God God promised at the birth of time, A special friend to give, His time on earth is short, He said, So love him while he lives.
It may be for eight or ten years, Or only two or three, But will you, till I call him back, Take care of him for Me? A wagging tail and cold wet nose, And silken velvet ears, A heart as big as all outdoors, To love you through the years.
His puppy ways will gladden you, And antics bring a smile, As guardian or friend he will, Be loyal all the while.
He'll bring his charms to grace your life, And though his stay be brief, When he's gone the memories, Are solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, Since all from earth return, But lessons only a dog can teach, I want you each to learn.
I've looked the whole world over, In search of guardians true, And from the folk that crowd life's land, I have chosen you.
Whatever love you give to him, Returns in triple measure, Follow his lead and gain a life, Brim full of simple pleasures.
Enjoy each day as it comes, Allow your heart to guide, Be loyal and steadfast in love, As the dog there by your side.
Now will you give him all your love, Nor think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to call, To take him back again?
I fancy each of us would say, Dear Lord, thy will be done, For all the joys this dog shall bring, The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, We'll love him while we may, And for the happiness we've known, Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him, Much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, And try to understand.
If by our love we've managed, God's wishes to achieve, In memory of him that we have loved, And to help us while we grieve;
When our faithful bundle departs, This earthly world of strife, We'll get yet another pup, And love him all his life.
We like carpet but don’t like pet hair and dust in our house. I bought vaccum cleaner Shark V2700Z http://jonsguide.org/best-top-shark-cor … m-reviews/ directly from Shark (included some free accessories and a lifetime warranty). I have to say, this is one of the best vacuum purchases I’ve made.
I have 2 dogs, a Border Collie and an Australian Shepherd who just love to leave hair everywhere (yes, they do require additional brushing every week). This model makes easy work of getting that hair up from both the carpets and from the hardwood floors.
I will say from a Bare floors perspective, while the powered head without the brushroll running does a decent job of getting the hardwood floors clean, I find myself using the Hard Floor Genie attachment more (it’s a vacuum and microfiber pad in 1 tool).
The nice thing about the Shark is it goes from Upright, to Canister, to stand-alone very easily. I find myself using the Canister mode more often than upright, simply because I can just lower the handle and go straight under the bed with the powered head without having to stop, change accessories, then go under the bed.
Nobody told my domestic shorthair cats that they don’t need to grow winter coats, so they do, and they’ve been blowing them all summer. The longhair rescue cat is so timid that it’s hard to brush her for more than a couple of minutes at a time. She’s very, very large, and it can take days to cover all her surfaces. Roomba keeps up with most of the tumbleweeds, but corners and crevices are a challenge. There is no end to this circle, no end to this song…

I got 99 problems, but a pet ain't one.
@hems79 For all you pet owners "If you got pet problems I feel bad for you son!"
My problem is loose beard whiskers turning into mini "tumble weed" balls.
@Fish_Kungfu you can call them beard whiskers, but everybody knows they're pubes
@Mehntok Damn! You caught me! LOL!

What? No option: "No pet hair and we have pets"? Our Cockapoos shed less than we do - not at all in fact!
@RedOak

6 pets..thank heavens for the Roomba 790
Seriously, this picks up pet hair better than our dyson or the central vac.
One cat, not too bad with the fur.
We brush him occasionally, but only really noticeable if he lays on the same couch cushion for a few days.
Do kids count as pets? Never noticed how much hair they shed until I had to unwind if from the mini quad copter blades!
@mikibell you can just slide the props off and then pull the hair off. Then reattach the props :D much easier than trying to unwind hair.
@Nexar awesome..Of course the directions are already lost, so i was afraid to break the prop..
Sometimes I forget we don't have carpet.

At least my Roomba keeps it down to a reasonable level

@connorbush that's not real, right? Tarantulas don't actually shoot needle hairs into you when they're mad…right?
@connorbush SHIT
@JonT I volunteer at the local science museum. We have two tarantulas. One has a bald butt. Too many elementary school groups I guess.
@JonT they can mess a person up. No bueno if they get in the eyeball.
@connorbush You need to start a strange pet thread just to see what other crazy creatures people have around here. I am ok with the spiders. It's people that keep snakes as pets that really creeps me out. I hate snakes!
@mfladd ooo my last pet was a snake. He was so cute. Had to give him away when I went to college. We spent a good fifteen years together. Good idea.
@connorbush I had a pet snake as a kid. My grandmother paid us a nickel for every snake we got out of her basement. Mom let me keep one, a cute little garter snake with a red belly.

@Kidsandliz I dig it.

My 14 year old, little, yellow Lab mix died last month. I cry when I find her hair in my house. I miss her so much.
@Barney Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss.
@Barney awww many purple sympathies...
@mfladd I'm sorry, Barney. (((((Barney)))))

My dog has a DOUBLE coat of fur…it is redic!
Still loving my Botvac. It does an awesome job. Still a lot of cat fur, but running this baby every day is sure helping.
