It was kind of crappy. My 87 year-old father fell as we were going down the stairs to go out and got a smallish but deep cut on his face. He had to spend about four hours at the Emergency Room (he takes a blood thinner and apparently that makes a CT scan mandatory after a fall). So Christmas wasn't much fun. But I'm extremely grateful he wasn't injured more badly in the fall. I'm grateful he's still alive at 87 and I'm very grateful he was able to come to visit me this Christmas. He has become quite frail in the last couple of years. The time I spend with him now is very precious to me.
@Pamela May all go well for him. Emergency Rooms aren't that entertaining on any given day, & I imagine Christmas in the ER is even less fun. Take care.
Awesome - no family drama, good food, lots of cookies, nice gifts including A FREAKIN AMZN ECHO from my wife!!!
All the crap I bought here and gifted out (yogurt maker, portable shower, multiple knives, power bank, multiple quad copters) were all well received. My barely-adult-nephews went full derp with the quadcopters :D
mEH'S offerings suck for the past 2 days,but my echo makes up for it :P
@RedOx I cancelled my original launch Echo cause of the creepy "Amazon is reading my mind" factor.
Then i started being more honest w self. Who am i kidding? Amazon already knows everything about me. I am, at the holidaze, kinda a "deals crack whore", and Amazon is the main pusher.
So i grabbed two Echos (on sale of course) and am now deeper than ever into my desease. :)
Hey Amazon, keep putting up those audiophile headphone deals! And how about some Mauviel?! Actually, i should just tell all this to PurpleEcho.
I might have to turn off the Echos now and then. Not only for privacy, but .... true solitude is good for me sometimes.
Ok, back to the crack pipe. Hey, Amazon, babe, whatcha got going on?
Saw Star Wars Christmas Eve, spent a good part of the day ripping dry wall out of my garage. Went to a Chinese restaraunt for dinner. Unfortunately no Chinese turkey.
I'm moving from St. Paul, MN to Denver, CO in 25 hours. Been in MN my whole life. Spent the last 2 weeks packing a lifetime of belongings n the last 2 days with family and friends. Bittersweet... All-n-all is been pretty great! Didn't get to see all the family that I wanted, but fingers crossed that they all might come through tomorrow for a send off!
Not a normal Christmas as there were 29 of us (all family) for dinner. Only downside, a baby with severe colic; felt so sorry for him. But other than that, they appreciated my cooking, we played some Skit-skat (taught some of the younger members), destroyed a home-made piniata with lots of good stuff for the kids inside, ate too much, and all-in-all had a good time.
Went to Christmas Eve church service with all the trimmings. Lots of incense, carols, five piece brass ensemble PLUS tympani and flute, three professional singers to beef up the choir, half an hour of prelude- Berthier, Charpentier, Bach... How can you go wrong with kettledrums? Piles of baked goods, coffee, etc. Only thing missing was snow; it was 82 here.
It was awesome. I got to hang out for a bit with all my siblings and their respective children and my parents as well. All in all, a good time. Getting ready to play League of Legends with my niece.
A fall and a few hours in the er. Amazing place with my own TV. Peaceful, quiet, and thankfully, nothing more serious than multiple aches and pains today.
Christmas morning was wonderful. The rest of the day awful. My husband's friend, girlfriend and son came over. He is a miserable guy half the time which in turn makes his girlfriend depressed. His son is in withdrawals from heroin. I did my best to put on a happy fave and avoid avert controversy, but the friend thrives on it.
I spent the morning in the urgent care walk in. I was so sick. Turns out I have nasty sinus infection. Then We had drive 3 hours to visit family the same day....yup awesome
My wife inherited a house in the boondocks about 5 years ago and we have been ripping the 1970's out of it for some time in order to sell it. Finally on the market and amazingly sold in 6 weeks! So this is our first Christmas with just 1 house to worry about, heat, and pay taxes on.
Ahh so many wasted tears on a day that should be joyous.. You are certainly not alone, but keep focused on the joy of the innocent..it is what got me through it... :)
@mikibell - omg, that was my exact intent. @carl669's son is a perfect stand-in though, his joy is contagious. Thank you, and wishes for much cheer to you, as well.
@KDemo his joy fills up a room quite well, doesn't it?(and so do his toys, but we won't get into that). i'm so glad he may have been able to bring a smile to you. many many wishes of joy from my family to you and yours this season.

@DKL It was fine in the past, but how was it in the future?
@rockblossom Let's just say... it's something else. ;)
It was pretty awesome. Got nerf guns over at the in-laws, shot the hell out of each other. It was great!

@Klozitshopper I'm happy to hear that you are okay.

@looseneck Well, this puts mine in perspective. Guess it wasn't so crappy after all.

I was only in tears for half the day, so I guess it depends on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist.
@KDemo since it's Christmas let's go with optimist. 💐Flowers to cheer you and🦄 For something magical in days to come.
@ceagee - Your response means more than you probably know. Thank you!
@KDemo

My Christmas was fine. I had to work but hey time and a half.
