@jbartus It did. At least they got rid of that horrendous opening they had for the earlier seasons. And another “guilty pleasure” is I love all things Gordon Ramsey.
@mfladd same here. I was pretty disappointed he cancelled Kitchen Nightmares, it was a favorite.
I think they might have dropped the opening to make it less of a spectacle. I think Gordon might have backed out of Kitchen Nightmares because it became more about the spectacle than the stories and helping people through them. I do truly think he cares about the people he helps and helping them to improve. Hotel Hell is new enough that he can still kind of turn things around but with the following Kitchen Nightmares had I’m not sure he had any real say in the matter.
My grandmother had the master key to her whole apartment complex. On the one hand, she was like 95 at the time so how much damage could she really do? On the other hand, she was like 95 at the time…
We stayed at a Holiday Inn in SC once - they assigned another couple to our room. So, about ten minutes after we fell asleep, we hear the frustrated complaints of the other couple who are pissed that the slide lock is on. Until I said hello… thank you, sleepy night clerk.
@Thumperchick A friend booked us into a hotel once in what turned out to be a bad part of the Newport News area. Cheap, rundown looking hotel, and when we walked into our room there was someone’s stuff everywhere and IIRC it sounded like someone was taking a shower. We went back to the front desk and they tried putting us in a different room but it hadn’t been cleaned. It was right across from an Air Force base and there were hookers all around the hotel so we decided to leave. It took him some arguing with the travel website but eventually we got in somewhere else, although we had to drive another hour to find a hotel with a vacancy.
@Thumperchick I recently went to a hotel in Austin where the clerk gave me the wrong room. I opened the door and thought I heard a TV, looked up and saw my coworker I was there to meet. So a potentially awkward moment of barging in on a stranger turned into a “Hey man! Want a beer?” moment instead.
@jqubed holy crap. Wish i had known. Couldve invited you to the den of the Polarbear and wife. Langley isnt far from where i work and can be rather ghetto at times. Theres nice places not horribly far from there, but yea. Be careful around the hookers. Might not be the lady kind. Lol
@polarbear84 So far my only direct interaction with hookers has been shooting video in a bad part of town for the news and them giving me an overview of what happened when the victim got shot, so I’m not terribly interested in being where they are when the sun goes down.
@j8048188 Hey I lived there once in Hilton Village. That was nice when I lived there and is way the heck south of Jefferson. And just a couple of blocks from the river. It that area ghetto now?
Once stayed in a crazy place near Asbury Park when had a minor car prob. Turned out to be, as far as I could tell, a party and hooker palace. Would up moving various furniture to block the door jic.
Quite a few years ago I went to Virginia Beach on a spur-of-the-moment trip and arrived at about 3am. I went from Hotel to Hotel looking for vacancy and after about 15 different places, finally found a room.
I paid and the manager gave me my key. I staggered down the hall to my door. I inserted the key and opened the door. I was greeted by a very large, buck-naked man in the midst of giving his wife a good old-fashioned plunge-job. I slowly backed out of the room and closed the door.
I don’t know if the entertainer was compensated for his exposure or not, but I got a suite for the night. It was compliments of the house. I still didn’t sleep well though
@djslack Not my show, ask @capguncowboy, although I’d be concerned that if that couple was unwittingly part of the evening’s entertainment I might later find myself unwittingly someone else’s entertainment.
That is Hotel Hell.
@mfladd I heard a new season started like two weeks ago, maybe he should go to this place.
@jbartus It did. At least they got rid of that horrendous opening they had for the earlier seasons. And another “guilty pleasure” is I love all things Gordon Ramsey.

@brhfl I had the matter keys for my high school, how much damage could I do?
<Checks statute if limitations>
Lots. Lots and lots.
Or maybe even to your employees… http://www.kob.com/new-mexico-news/hotel-employee-charged-with-sexually-assaulting-guest-police-say/4159223/
A good reason to always use the deadbolt!
Here’s a classic:
Yours is a Very Bad Hotel.
@dashcloud I was checking to see if someone had already posted this.
@dashcloud what ever happened to Mike from the Doubletree Houston? Is he still cleaning septic tanks or has he gone still further downhill?
@jbartus I bet he makes promises to clean septic tanks, and doesn’t clean them.
@capguncowboy he doesn’t call them promises, they’re guarantees.

@Thumperchick
Awkward…

@djslack talk about lucking out! xD
@jqubed Ahhh, Newport News.
Here’s your guide to bad areas there.
Lol
@j8048188 I’m fairly certain that hotel checked off the first 2 criteria, though I’m unsure about its location relative to Jefferson.
@polarbear84 So far my only direct interaction with hookers has been shooting video in a bad part of town for the news and them giving me an overview of what happened when the victim got shot, so I’m not terribly interested in being where they are when the sun goes down.

Wouldn’t “Don’t give out master keys” be Lesson 1 in How To Run a Hotel rather than How Not To Run a Hotel?
@mikey Unless it’s the Norman Bates School of Motel Management.
http://snltranscripts.jt.org/75/75pbatesmotel.phtml
@mikey I suppose it could work either way
Once stayed in a crazy place near Asbury Park when had a minor car prob. Turned out to be, as far as I could tell, a party and hooker palace. Would up moving various furniture to block the door jic.
@f00l
Forgot until just now…the door didnt lock properly and could have been jimmied by s small child. Other rooms were no better.

@capguncowboy This is two strikes for hotels in the Virginia Beach/Newport News/Hampton Roads area.
@jqubed Free room AND a show! That’s Las Vegas style hospitality! What does a hotel have to do to impress you?
@djslack maybe he wanted an invitation to join?
@djslack Not my show, ask @capguncowboy, although I’d be concerned that if that couple was unwittingly part of the evening’s entertainment I might later find myself unwittingly someone else’s entertainment.
@jqubed hence me not sleeping well
