We were warned by the old farmers that there are spoons in the persimmons and therefore we were going to have a horrible debilitating winter.... we've had a dusting of snow twice.
The worst part about this snow in Massachusetts is that they enacted a driving ban and I couldn't get my dunks. I had to make my own at home and it's just not the same, man.
Ahhhh its so torturous hearing about the "too much snow" some people are engulfed in! Even at the local hill this season has seen the least amount of snowfall ever recorded! http://www.timberlinelodge.com/historical-snowfall-data/
Around 3ft at the lowest points, you can only see the tops of most cars. This guy on /r/Boston posted this great set of photos from around my neighborhood. http://imgur.com/a/NCt4m
Yes, during a snow emergency and 24-hour travel ban, there still will be at least a couple Dunkin Donuts open.
It may never snow again in Northern California. Once it all dries up I guess we'll all have to drive out to Oklahoma to find jobs picking whatever the hell it is they grow out here.
@SSteve Aww, crikey! Yeah I've heard about California's drought problems. Is it getting pretty bad there? Like Solarbabies bad?! Last I heard they were going to make water out of sewage. :-( That... sounds bad. And contemplating moving to Oklahoma - that sounds REALLY bad. Sorry, man.
@pepsiwine Local lakes are puddles and there's no snow pack. It's bad. We're hoping against hope that our well doesn't run dry.
My dad got out of Oklahoma when he was a kid in the 40s. He brought my mom (who was born and raised in San Francisco) back to visit in the summer after they got married in 1959. She couldn't deal with the heat and swore she'd never go back. No one in my immediate family has stepped foot in OK since.
@SSteve Yeah I'm very familiar with Oklahoma since I'm in the cesspool directly north of there. And it's gotten worse since your folks left - they have near-daily earthquakes now due to all the recent fracking. We had a 4.2 that woke us up just this morning and 3-4 more throughout the day. Sheesh - just when you think Oklahoma couldn't get any worse. Dude, you gotta fix California. Moving to OK is simply NOT an option.
@SSteve BTW - How do you put a "return" (an extra line) in the posts on here? I've tried hitting return but that just posts what I've written. Thx in advance for any help on this.
@pepsiwine What @YahSah15 said. < br > without the spaces. You need two of them to get a blank line. There were some other clever reply-related things figured out in this thread.
No snow here in Kansas. We broke records today with our 73 degree high. Just got back from running in the beautiful weather - at 10:00 at night - GORGEOUS!
Official number is 34.5 inches here in Worcester MA. Broke the record for biggest storm in history. I don't think a roomba would have helped much to clean the driveway.
@derek17j More coming soon. A couple inches on Friday and then a foot on Monday. (Maybe another couple inches at the end of the following week) I am running out of places to put snow.
About 2" on my driveway. Predictions were originally for 8"-12". Rather bummed, I love the snow. Headed up for some skiing at Gore Mountain in New York on Friday, but even the Adirondacks didn't get hit with this storm. They only got about 3". :(
Florida may be the home of "Florida Man", but at least we don't have to worry about snow. At worst, it gets below freezing for a couple days and the big story on the news is damage to the citrus groves.
All of you people with none snow are welcomed to come up and shovel me out- it's part of my new guaranteed weight loss plan! We were supposed to get 1-2 feet, got a bit more than 2.
@Pantheist While I appreciate the offer, I checked that life experience off my list last year in STL during that whole "Polar Vortex" thing. Shoveled the walk, shoveled my car out of the drifts, and was quite satisfied with myself while vowing to never do that again.
Today, I'll think I'll stick with Dallas' high of 79/low of 48 ;)
No snow thanks to global warming.
@TerriblyHuang thanks obama.

@MsELizardBeth I can't stand it On which page of TOFA are persimmon spoons mentioned? I have a copy here.
@MsELizardBeth were they
@OldCatLady I have no idea. I literally mean "old farmers". #rurallife
No snow thanks to manifest destiny
Snow? whats that?

It's just not the same.
@Mac454 It's up now! But we will all have to deal with mountains of snow for a couple weeks now.
@Mac454 This is the second reference to Dunks that I have seen. Is this Dunkin Donuts, or something different?

Last few days have been in the 50's. Normally we'd have SOME snow now. You have to go up at least 700-1000 ft to get snow on the mountains around us.
We got 2 feet of snow where I live

Also, BeaconX games. They turn the streets on Beacon Hill into snow runs during heavy snow.
It rained yesterday. It is actually nice outside

@pepsiwine I've heard you put this lesser-than greater-than signs, thus: < no space >. Haven't tried it myself yet, though.
@YahSah15 Not 'this'.....'the'... And it's < br > without the spaces. (Hope I've not confused you. Couldn't edit the first reply.)
@pepsiwine What @YahSah15 said. < br > without the spaces. You need two of them to get a blank line. There were some other clever reply-related things figured out in this thread.
Nada. Southern California.
@lisaviolet Same here. It was pretty crazy that the previous storm dumped some snow over Lake Elsinore, though!
@lisaviolet Plenty of yellow snow on Big Bear.
@bmf
Florida - 65 degrees and we're breaking out the cold weather gear!
@Mehrocco_Mole "Cold weather gear" in Florida being a light jacket and a long sleeve shirt and long pants and closed-toe shoes.
No snow here in Kansas. We broke records today with our 73 degree high. Just got back from running in the beautiful weather - at 10:00 at night - GORGEOUS!
Depends how far outside you go. No snow in Garden that I know.

@The_Baron yeah, I don't have anyplace to put it either. My current piles are pretty high. I'm building my arms up throwing shovelfulls.

@sjk3 I'll take the snow over these bastards any day.

@Pantheist no thanks. I live South of I-40 on purpose.
Zero. Zero. Zero. I don't miss the snow
Madison, CT 18" outside.
Three. Feet. Of. Snow.
We're (DFW) supposed to get in the 70s today. I'm hoping for snow next week though. No good reason other than I want it.
Just barely hit the minimum for the forecast. Driveway was shoveled clear, a bit drifted back in last night.
In the 70's Monday, Tuesday and today out in West Texas, but snow predicted for Friday morning.
The last snow just melted on Monday.
It drives the daffodils daffy.
My driveway. About 2-3 feet outside.
Guess what? It's snowing right now!!!!! So fucking excited! I wish I could call out and just be so happy that it's snowing! :)
